9.5 ft Montague Manitou Fly Fishing Rod 3-piece This is a rare Montague Manitou 3 piece fly fishing rod with spare end section. The reel seat style is rare. The finish on the has no scratches or dents. Made out of bamboo. The handle is a little worn. The length of each piece is about 39" The ferrules(metal connector between the sections) are in excellent condition and original. Based on a style by John Landman. This was probably made prior to the 1930's. I couldnt get a clear picture of the montague manitou lable but it is not worn off and clearly visible. Antique Cherry Wood 9 Ft Fishing Rod, Pole. Oak Handle, Trout, Bass, Sea
Rod is in great shape. Looks to be solid cherry with oak turned handle. Maybe handmade. All eyes are solid and pole is straight with no damage. Joint is metal and very good. It needs a cleaning to push it fully together. Binding on eyes is very solid and no fraying or damage. Rubber end is still rubbery and not rotted. Varnish is very good and shows a little aged patina on the finish. Judging by that. It looks like it's 60 to 80 years old. I don't know what this pole is made for. Some tell me it's a trout rod, others say it's for ocean fishing. I wanted to picture it together but it's too long to get a good shot. I will work on that. Reads: Your rod is equipped with Mimi-Ferrules(there are three words in this line that I can't make out) Wright& McGill Feather Light No MLWL 6 ft trade mark The Eagle Claw stamp on the handle is almost gone but can still be made out. Cork is not damaged but has taken on an aged hue. All metal parts are undamaged. All guides are tight. I believe the tip guide has been replaced as it does not match. This is a vintage fly fishing rod that I found at a Seattle area estate sale. It is a Herter's Model RB6H20 fly rod that is 8.5 long. It is in very good lightly used condition. It actually looks almost unused(see pictures) The finish is in nice condition& cork handle are real nice. Take a look at the pictures and judge this one for yourself. Comes to you in excellent condition for the age. it looks like it may have never been used. Rod is 5 1/2 foot lenght when assembled. rod is yellow in color. I see no cracking, deterioration or breakage on this one. Wrapping is excellent. All eyes look great too. Pole connects well and has no play. Reel holder is intact and adjusts nicely. Cork handle is excellent. original price tag from local hunting/fishing store is still on the handle too. This auction is for a South Bend Rod Bag#4369. With no reserve. The bag shows some wear, has a small stain above the"7" below the word"Length" on the top of the bag. One of the black strings at the top of the bag is frayed right at the bag and is half of the length of the other string. The bag is 42 1/2" long, not including the flap at the top. The rod number is 4369 and the length appears to be a 7. There is a small 1/4" tear in the material at the fold of the bag about 4" up from the bottom. The bag can be seen in the 5 pictures below.
