The No. 1315"Delu xe" has been attributed by many to E.W. Edwards Rod Co. Who supplied the Shakesp ear e Co. with se veral high- quality models for a number of years. Rodshaft still carries a partial"Shakespeare- Honor Built- Honor Sold" decal. While the sliding band is stamped"1315- B- 9 Shakespeare MADE IN U.S.A. PAT'D" The patent was granted to Wm. Shakespeare Jr. in 1924 for the reel seat design. The seat itself is correctly stamped"Made In U.S.A. I'm guessing this might be a 5 or 6 wt. Auction is for a Vintage Heddon Pal Spook#1 or Deluxe Fishing Rod. This old rod is circa early 1950's. Heddon produced the Deluxe version with gold guides and tip. Gold& black trim windings, a tenite foregrip made to look like burled walnut which was gold flecked and checkered. It had a black handle. This one is in excellent condition- the handle, seat, eyes, wraps etc are all nice.the label is missing but, that's about it. Rod is a 1-piece 5'6" casting Rod. This auction is for my Hardy Bros The Deluxe Palakona. 9ft 3 piece split cane fly fishing rod. In excellent condition, with original bag. Stamped E 56220 for 1943. I have owned the rod for the past 15 years and have never used it. It has only been out of the bag a handful of times since I have owned it. Rod in great overall condition. There are a couple of light scuffs on the cork handle as can be seen in photos. Everything is as should be. In original bag, but bag is ripped and dirty as can be seen in photos. It measures 8 1/2' and is 4 1/2 ounces. Inscribed on the rod shaft as a 5/6WT(HDH or E) line. Only 0.5% of bamboo was good enough for the Heddon President grade of rods. Made in Heddon’s“Handmade Rod Department” where all rods(Model 20 and up) were crafted by a single rod maker. This rare#50 President is in very good+ condition. The rod is clearly marked on the shaft: Heddon Deluxe President. 50- 8 1/2' 2F- HDH or E" The ferrules are rock solid and the sections seat/ unseat together nicely. Only some very slight marks on the deep black enamel. All sections are straight. The rod has gold thread tipped dark green. The rod appears to have had the mid and ... moresingle tip restored at some point, and the butt section appears to have just had the ferrule re-wrapped. The butt section may have also had a varnish overcoat at some point in its life. Reel seat is nickel silver over walnut and is in excellent condition. Cork is excellent. Original tan bag and dark copper tube. Both with clear labeling. I will also include in the sale the few pages I have from the Heddon catalog(pages 29-34) of the same era. There's some great information on the construction, specifications and actions of their high grade bamboo rods.
