RARE VINTAGE HEDDON PAL SUPERLATIVE BASS 6.5' FISHING FLY ROD
According to a past listing I saw. This is a bass fly fishing rod. I really don't know much about such things, but I will describe it as well as possible. Feel free to ask questions if I have missed any pertinent details.This vintage item belonged to my late Dad- found it when we were clearing out his house 10 years ago. It measures 6-1/2' when the 2 parts are put together. It is probably fiberglass, going by other descriptions of this type of rod from the 1950's-early 60's. The handle is cork. It has a red plastic end cap attached by a screw. There is a metal casing on the handle with 2 moveable metal rings to attach a reel. It has a small triangular metal loop attached just above the handle, and 5 ferrules attached by thread wrapping- all secure and perfect. Near the handle, in script writing, it says: Heddon Pal Superlative#1170-7-L" ... moreThere is a tan cloth bag with brown piping that the rod goes in before putting it in the tubular case. It has a seam sewn down the middle, making a section for each part of the rod. The case is all metal, with a screw-on cap. The cap is pretty dented up, but it still works well. There is more denting, mostly on 1 side at the other end of the case. There is a well-worn"Heddon" sticker on the top end side. Check out my! VINTAGE HEDDON FISHING ROD OLD HEDDON PAL FLY ROD 8145 8' FLYROD OLD TROUT ROD
Here is an old Heddon Pal Fly Rod fishing pole. Large white spots are camera glare. This is a old fishing rod made by Heddon in Michigan and shows very well. The vintage fishing rod is a flyrod pole. The old Heddon fly rod is marked HEDDON. PAL, just above the cork handle. The vintage Trout Rod is also marked 8145 8' 7 lines on the old fish rod. The old line eyes are odd, the first one looks like a normal rod eye and the rest of the eyes are wire type including the tip of the rod. This vintage Heddon"PAL" Fly Rod is in used condition but what I would call very good condition with only a couple or so tiny flea bites. I don't know much about old fly rods but don't think it's been messed with or don't think it's and old bamboo fly rod but sure the old heddon fishing rod collector will know. The old cork handle ... moreor the rod has not been cleaned yet but it should clean up quite well. This would be a nice old fly rod for the collector to clean up and add to the vintage fishing rods collection. You are bidding on a rare vintage Heddon Lifetime Pal Model 8247 Fiberglass Fly Fishing Rod. Manufactured in the USA in the mid 1960s this is a 2 piece rod that measure 8’ 6” in length. Heddon advertised this rod as having“Exclusive Rust Proof Stainless Wire Wrap” This is indicated on the rod blank just in front of the grip and again just behind the stripping guide. They also advertised it as having“controlled flex Action” For Weight 8 Line” This is on the sticker just in front of the grip. The original Heddon“Try Me” label is still on the grip stating that the grip is made of genuine burnt cork and it“grips tight reel tight” The original price of this rod was $32.50. The rod has a bronze black silver anodized reel seat with black hoods. Black nickel silver ferrules and stainless steel wraps over a black backing. This rod is in what I would ... moreconsider VG + to EX– condition with some age rash and a little fading on the decals but no other problems. This is a Vintage Old Heddon Pal#8478 Mark V 8' Fly Fishing Rod. It is in very nice used condition. Looks new. The only issue I found is the cloth of the zipper is torn on one end as can be seen in the last picture. See the pictures and judge condition for yourself. I have many more lures as well as fishing items so be sure and check my other listings. I'll be listing more on a regular basis so look back for other nice old items.
