Vintage Hardy Palakona " The Halford Knockabout" 2 Piece Split Cane Rod & Bag
This is a unique and beautiful rod built in 1963 according to the serial number H53572A. The overall length is 9' 6" and marked as 7# The wrapping is clean and guides are sound. it has a unique ferrule with a pin which is great condition. There is a screw out piece in the butt which I do not know the purpose. Comes with original bag that is faded and stained but is complete and functional with no rips. Vintage ~"Hardy Palakona The Nocturnal SeaTrout" 2 Piece Split Cane Rod& Bag PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ON THE UK SITE AND LISTED IN GB POUNDS. Vintage Hardy"Palakona The Nocturnal Sea Trout" 2 Piece Split Cane Rod. This lovely"Hardy's" Palakona The Nocturnal Sea Trout" rod with its' additional extension handle. Is in good"as found" condition, it has not been restored or repaired by us. The rod measures approx. 12 foot. including the handle) in overall length. The fittings, reel seat and ring to the butt section are in alloy, they do have some small patches of discolouration. It has a"Lockfast" joint, which is a good snug fit. All of the rings are present and well attached, the top and bottom rings are agate lined. The green whipping is in good order, however, the varnish covering ... morethe whipping has been discoloured in places around the rings and joint. There are no cracks or splits to the cork handle or extension, but the main handle is a little"rough" near the top. The rod appears to be straight. The aluminum butt has the Royal Appointment Crests. Made by Hardy's England" and the number"H14953" 1958) Just above the handle the rod has"Regd. Trademark Palakona" and"The Nocturnal Sea Trout" hand written in indian ink. The rod has its' correct. Original makers cloth bag, with a pouch at the top for the handle extension and the turned wooden ferrule stopper. The rod has a lovely feel when held. Well balanced, sturdy, and it has taken on a super depth of colour over the years of use. We take great care to describe our items as clearly and honestly as possible. All of the rings are present and well attached, the bottom and top ring are agate lined, however, the top ring appears to be a replacement and the top section may have been shortened slightly. Vintage Hardy Palakona Fly fishing 2 Piece Split Cane Rod Bag Spanner 82 inch
Here is a nice vintage Hardy Bros split can fishing rod. No damage or repairs found. When together it measures about 82 inches long. The rod itself measures 68 inches with 2 inches of that fitting into the handle. I can not make out the writing on the pole near the handle. Includes the original carrying bag and spanner wrench. Bag has been poked through at the end and wrench has a little rust. Both easy to fix, but hard to find. Also includes the wood and cork cap that goes into the handle to protect the end. Some minor tarnish on the brass, easy enough to clean. This is a very nice vintage rod, great to display or use. No reserve. Please view our other auctions. The butt and reel fittings are in alloy and the top ring is agate lined. It has a suction joint for a good snug fit and all of the rings are present and are well attached. The tip section has a slight set to the left. The light green whipping is in very good condition. The varnish shows some age, but is still very good condition for it's age.
