But there is nothing serious as far as its functionality goes. There are no big cracks or anything. The hexagonal rod itself is in fine condition. The original brass fittings and the eyelets are in very good condition, with no dents in the brass. And no unraveling of the fastenings for the eyes. The fit is very tight between the pieces. And one end was apparently scrubbed a little bit in order to get it to fit. But no damage was done to it. With a little work you can have a very fine functioning fly rod, or you could restore it completely. The original end is in very good condition as well. I'm not sure what to make of the end piece. Although it is very solid and functional. This vintage flyrod will make a fine addition to your collection. With just a little work. it will be ready for your favorite trout fly or streamer. On the end of one of the pieces the hook or loop is missing, on another piece in the middle another loop is missing. The mail piece with the handle measures 34 1/2" 2 of the pieces measure slightly under 35" the shortest one measures 30" I am not an expert on vintage fishing items so please take a look at the photos closely to determine the condition. Here we have a Bamboo Fly Fishing Rods and Reel.It appeares to be in fine shape.Theres nothing broke.All the eyes are present.Its a Montauge Flash It still retains about 98% of its original sticker.The cork handle is in used shape.Im not sure of the age.It measures roughly 102 in from tip to tip.This appears to be the original cloth bag that came with itr Theres an extra lenght tip with this one. Vintage South Bend Bait Co. Split Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod#253, 9 Foot Rod This is a 4-piece bamboo fly rod with the rare green bands on the eyes and it's signed by Wilbur C. Bury or this rod was made for him. This split bamboo fly rod is in super shape. It has aged very well. Look over the photos and see for yourself. The guides are all in excellent condition with no fraying on any of the green bands. The identifying decals are 95+% intact, the recommended line weight and rod# lettering look as though they where just applied. This is a 9 foot 3 piece rod with the extra tip. It comes with a soft dark blue plaid flannel carring bag(rod sock) with string ties on both ends and it is in super condition. The tube is not available. Its missing seven eye guides(includes 1 missing tip) the wrapping is starting to unravel on two of the eyes guides. It comes with two Tip pieces, one of the tip pieces is cracked. Selling for repair. Comes with cloth Bag that is torn/tattered with holes. Nicely detailed it has a tan/orange colored marbleized handle seat. I believe he bought it right after WWII in the late forties(not sure of year) It has not been used for at least 50 years. It has been carefully stored in dry, warm area. Has Two Tips. Grip end appears excellent. Bamboo appears to be in excellent condition. The decals are partially rubbed off. Those are the only defects on the rod that I know of. I am not an expert. Vintage South Bend #359-9 BAMBOO 4 Piece FLY FISHING ROD Pole For Repair/Restore
Vintage South Bend Bamboo Fly fishing rod. Model#359-9' Comes in four sections. With two rod tips. This rod has been well used, and is in need of some repair/restoration. Line guide on the main section by the tip is missing and the guide wrapping there is frayed. Next section has a loose guide and the next guide is not on at all. I do have the missing guide eyelet for this section. The two tips have all the guides and appear to be intact. I do not see any obvious cracks or breaks in any of the sections, the repairs needed are more cosmetic/functional. The cloth case appears to be in fairly good condition with slots for all four sections. If you are a collector you would know better how to judge the condition of this fly rod and if it can be restored or repaired to add to your collection or used for trading fodder. Vintage Bamboo 4 piece Fly fishing Rod/S.B.H. Co/Supplee-Biddle Hrdw Co./Oldie!
Vintage 4 piece bamboo fly fishing rod. Label is for Supplee-Biddle Hardware Company(S.B.H. Co) in Philiadelphia PA I believe. Label also says Congress Fishing Tackle. The Reel seat is stamped Congress Qualitey Trade Mark. Each Section is 35" long, so I think its probable an 8 1/2ft rod. Cork is dirty but shows only normal wear. Two guides have been re-wrapped and one needs to be redone, but it looks like all guides are accounted for. One of the two tips has a pretty good bow to it. The tips look original, and all sections of the fishing rod are the same length. Label does have wear. The original rod holder comes with the rod and has both of the ties in place. Small label tacked into the holder site for the main section has owners name and Titusville PA written on the tag. Vintage Horrocks Ibbotson 4 Piece Beaverkill Split Bamboo 9' Fly Fishing Rod
For your consideration is a Vintage Horrocks Ibbotson 3 Piece Beaverkill Split Bamboo 9' Fly Fishing Rod. The rod has a few issues. A couple of the windings are loose and I noticed no large nicks or chips in the wood but one piece is missing a ferrule and another piece is missing a tip guide(see pics 5.8 and 12) There are a few blemishes as well. Wood retains a very nice gloss. Ferrules show average age related wear. The cork handle looks complete with no major chunks missing. I see some cracking and indicated wear. The army green cloth carry bag has staining and discoloration. Note too that there is a large hole in the bottom of the carry bag. Vintage Split Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod Belmont 4 Piece w/ cover and tube
Up for auction is this fabulous vintage split bamboo fly fishing rod. This beautiful old 3 part rod is a complete 4 piece set which includes two identical tips. This sturdy well-crafted rod has a wonderful red agate stripping guide and is complete with its original main canvas case. And original metal tube with separate canvas case for the two tips. It is marked in gold script lettering"Belmont" From the information I could find on Belmont rods. I believe it is a Montague rod and was made between 1939& 1952. It measures about 8 1/2 feet long. With each piece measuring about 34 1/2" long. This great vintage rod was recently discovered in a very old estate and is in amazing condition. It looks like it was never used. And has been safely packed in its case for years. It has sturdy secure ferrules and guides, and complete cork ... moregrip which is darkened a little. VINTAGE ABBEY IMBRIE ? UNKNOWN BAMBOO FLY FISHING ROD 4 PIECE 9 FT ESTATE
Up for auction is a 9ft Bamboo fishing rod. I was unable to identify the piece 100% It did come in a bag that has a partial label that has Imbrie on it. Also has 9ft-6 oz on the bottom of the label as well. But I can't say for sure that the rod inside is an Abbey Imbrie. It has no numbers or identification at all on the rod. It's in pretty good condition overall Some of the thread on the rod is missing in a few sections. The bag is badly soiled and very fragile and coming apart. it also has the carrying case that the pieces slide into. It's a total of three pieces with one extra tip. Vintage Montague Rapidan Bamboo 3-Piece Fly Rod Fishing Pole 9' feet 4-Piece Set
This is a Vintage Montague Rapidan 3-piece Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod. It comes with 2 different tips. Making this an adjustable four-piece set. The differences between the two tips include: Slightly different lengths. One tip is a full inch longer. Slightly different tiptops. The tiptop of the slightly shorter tip has a guide with a red eyelet) Slightly different widths. The longer tip is also slightly thinner: the bamboo just below the tiptop measures 2mm and 4mm just above the male ferrule. While the bamboo of the shorter tip measures 2mm just below the tiptop and 5mm just above the male ferrule. Despite the differences between the tips. They are clearly made of the same materials(the same bamboo, windings, and ferrules) With the longer tip in place, the pole measures 9' from butt cap to tiptop. Vintage Horrocks Ibbotson. Utica, NY bamboo fly fishing rod 4 piece w sock &tube
A 1940's vintage fly rod in its original sock and metal tube. The sock still has it's colorful label from the Horrocks-Ibbotson Co in Utica. NY. It says the rod is a Hudson Model 2304 and that it's 9 feet long. The 3 piece rod is complete with an extra tip.making four pieces in the photograph. All wraps and eyes are in excellend condition. The only thing that looks like it has been used is the cork handle which has a divot out of it. Everything else is pristine. It is a Hex-shaped bamboo rod. Very pretty. The pieces each measure 34 5/8" 38" 33 5/8" and 30 1/4 respectively" On the handle of the rod is printed"PATENTED JAN 22 1907" There is no manufacturer's name, but the rod may be a"Montague" since a patent was issued to that company on that date. The rod is in very good condition- all the eyes are firmly in place. There are some signs of wear to the handle(see photos) I am not an expert in bamboo fly rods. This is a Vintage Hardy Bros Fly Fishing Rod. Offered at a Low Start ~ With No Reserve! Titled the Palakoma De Luxe. With the Serial Number 17930B. This is a 9ft three piece Split Cane Rod. With one Extra Finer Tip, Four Piece in total) Complete with the Original Bag. And the original Bamboo Carry Tube, which is also titled. The Rod has the Pat. Number and Regd. number both to the cane and end. The Rod is in very good condition. With little signs of use, there is a slight bloom to the polish in places, and possibly one whipping change, as shown in picture 8) and some minor pitting to the metal in places. The Bag has some marks and a name stitched on to it, Barnard Smith) the bamboo tube still has the original cap, but has lost the leather strap, some of the whipping to the tube has come astray. The aluminum tube measures 52 3/8" The rod has the following details printed on the metal: PAT APR 12 1938 PAT NO. 2414.107 MADE BY GOODWIN GRANGER COMPANY DENVER" The rod is in good condition. There is some minor wear to the handle(See photos) The eyes are all firm. The previous owner replaced one of the tips at some time.
