Greenheart wood fly fishing rod in superb condition, three section plus original matching spare tip, has individual rod number 94451, pre 1900 and one of the nicest ive seen, Hardy Fold Over Bridge Patent guides whipped dark green. Inc intermediate whips, bronze lock fast ferrules, wood stoppers, 11" sheet cork handle with sliding upper reel ring and W registered 1873 lower reel 6 screw support, brass butt cap stamped with makers details and red rubber removable button which can be unscrewed and replaced with the brass spike, also stamped Hardy Bros 94451) allowing you to stick the rod in the ground whilst tying on new fly etc rather than be trodden on, comes with original Hardy bag with early Rod in Hand logo embroidered label and little pocket for the brass spike,

Hello and welcome to the auction and thank you for viewing.This is for a good original vintage Grants Patent No.2167 greenheart rod in four pieces with two top sections.The greenheart looks to be in very good condition.The rod makes up to approximately 13 feet.Each splice is stamped Grants Patent No.2167.There is no Playfair of Aberdeen mark to the rod fitting to the bottom(early example before this was done?There is what appears to be an agate lined butt ring(there are no cracks) and two agate lined tip rings(no cracks)One of the tip rings has been re-whipped and this top is approximately 3.5cm. shorter than the other.One of the splices was missing(you would not know) which I have replaced with a matching one that I had.There is some writing to the inside of the splices and some unimportant marking to the splices where some binding has been ... morein place.There is a fitted red button which looks original and which is marked MED I presume for medium.Overseas bidders are welcome.Please email for a delivery quotation to your country if it is not shown. Edward Vom Hofe Greenheart Fly Rod Ultra Rare Never Seen Another One
I have never even seen a picture of another one of these much less held another in my hands. I have tried to research this piece but have come up empty handed. I am led to believe based on the materials and guide that this is one of Vom Hofe's earlier models of light weight trout fly rods. The only piece which is the butt measures 41" long. Based on handling other rods I believe this is a 2 piece rod meant to measure 82" total. Based on the guides and rattan handle and the fact that it is not made of bamboo I believe this rod came from the 1800's. I have not touched a thing. You can see the nickel silver is in great shape under the slide band reel seat and I believe everything would clean up nicely if a restore is performed. Again this is super rare greenheart trout fly rod made by an amazing craftsman. Please let me know ... moreif you have any info on this piece or would like any additional pictures. 11 ft Whole Cane and Greenheart Fly Rod Vintage Edgar Sealey Bag
Very unusual 5 piece Vintage Fly Rod With bottom Three Sections Made From Whole Cane and Two Greenheart Tips. The Rod has a flamed pattern on it and varies in length from 10 1/2 ft to 11 ft depending upon which tip you use. Lovely Brass ferrule Joints that fit beautifully. The whole rod looks to have been re varnished and all rings etc seem original and sound. I have always wondered what exact model and date this rod is but have never been able to identify it exactly. The actual rod has no visible markings or manufacturer on it but I bought it some time ago and it came in an Edgar Sealey Bag that's fits perfect and was part of an Edgar Sealey collection that I purchased. However I am unable to positively identify the rod. It is in my guess pre split cane and looking at the fittings and design I would guess around 1900's to 1920's? ... moreThe rod seems to have been restored by the previous owner with a coat of laquer applied to the whole rod except brass fittings. Reel seat is intact and the handle has a cork top section and wooden(greenheart? Bottom below the reel seat. The rod has 5 pieces two of which are tips. Here we have an old Vintage Greenheart salmon double handed fly rod. It is approx 12ft long when built and is a 2 section rod it does come with a spare top, it also has a short top for i think turning it into a spinning rod, it then measures approx 8ft 3 ins. All the whippings and eyes are very good for it's age as i think it will be over 100 years old going by the drop eyes on the small top section. On the 2 top sections the whippings have been reinforced with extra thread. if you have time have a peek at my other fishing items.
