Purchased in the 1960's from a traditional and very rustic Paradise Valley. Montana fly fishing pro shop, this genuine Hardy Bros. Alnwick) hexagon bamboo still looks to be in near mint condition- It was purchased as used. Fished about 6x, but looks pristine with no obvious wear, which is the condition I kept it in for the last 40+ years. The rod is a 2-piece with one matching tip. The cork grip is VERY clean and shows no marks or wear. The ferrules are squeaky clean. Smooth and tight fitting, while the guides(including the brass butt guide and chrome snake intermediates) are all original with no signs of wear at all. Windings and varnish are pristine and show no wear; Comes with the original blue sock and aluminum rod tube. In excellent to mint condition. The sections are straight as an arrow, although the tip piece appears to be about ½” shorter than the butt section. One thing I can truly attest to is that this rod lays out an awesome amount of line and has the backbone to take on even the nastiest of sea run brown trout! I’ve walked this rod into a fly fishing pro shop– They examined the piece and looked it up in their“bible” estimating that with a single tip it is valued@ $700.00. Should you have any questions. This is a lovely vintage 10' 6" split cane fly rod. The Duchess" by A E Hodge& Son of Redditch, complete with good condition bag. Bridge rings throughout. The rod is in virtually new condition, complete with ferrule stoppers, although the cork handle would benefit from a clean and light sanding. Antique Bamboo Fly Rod 8'-6" 2-tips Felt Lined Case: Split Cane
For your consideration a three piece. 8'6" split cane fly rod with an extra tip. Also comes with the original felt lined case. I can not find a name or mark on the pole but its a well made custom piece. The condition is very good there are no cracks or splits in the cane. There are no bends or dents in the nickel guides and ferrules. And all the windings are secure and original. The cork grip has wear and shows signs of age but it's in tact. The finish is old and I believe it is also original. Notice the frequency of the windings on the tip possibly a clue to the maker? Please look at all the pictures they are part of the description. Horrocks Ibbotson, "Beaver" Split Bamboo Fly Rod "Tonkin Cane" 8'6"
Nicely restored approx. 8 ft. 9 inch Horrocks Ibbotson Beaver. There are 3 rod sections. No cracks, or crazing in the finish. There are no defects in the bamboo. The varnish is very good. Both the model Beaver and the Horrocks decal reasonably good shape for being around 70 years old. There are no cracks, corrosion or other ferrule defects. The cork handle and reel seat are new with new insert. All snake guides are double footed with new wraps. I have fished this rod since restoration and it is FUN. Great little 4-5 wt. The original cloth bag is in pretty good shape.

Green Whippings and all Rings present. Even after 76 years. Holding this rod feels"right" Perfectly straight! Ferules stamped hardy. Reel seat also fully stamped and good condition.Some scratches on the black part. Writing on rod says regd trademark Palakona the Houghton. Unrefurbished and original. First ring on middle section needs re-whipping. Si last picture. Ring still present. I would also recommend re-whipping the tip eye. The Cork on handle has some damage to the bottom of it. See second last picture. The reel fitting is unaffected by it though. All in all a lovely used example of this quality rod that's 76 years ... moreold.
