In order to stop it, you just turn the timer switch to zero and it dings and shuts down. I would say the timer has to be replaced. Does not include the vacuum pump or rotor. Unit also seems to be missing a circuit board in the top-right of the unit(see photos) The front cover isn't shown in the photos below. Click to Enlarge) Product ID# C111605 This Thermo Electron Corp. Sorvall WX Ultra 80 WX80 Ultracentrifuge Centrifuge looks to be in decent cosmetic condition. Showing some signs of wear. It's got a few dents and dings on the external panels(please see photos above for detail) When I got it, the power cord had been cut pretty short, and what was left of it was stuffed inside the machine, and the On/Off breaker has had its mounting brackets broken, so it was also sitting inside the machine. I took the front cover off, and attached another power cord(not included) to what was left of the old one, and plugged it in, and the machine did power up, as shown in the photos above. The digital display is bright and clear, and it responds to input from the controls, and I was able to open and close the door, and when I pressed the"Vacuum" ... morebutton, the chamber sounded like the air was being sucked out, and the door would no longer open. As you can see in the photos, this centrifuge does NOT have a Rotor installed. I pressed the"Start" button, and the centrifuge seemed like it was going to start spinning(the rabbit icon started running, and the rotor icon has"Accel" inside of it) but then the centrifuge seemed to sense that it did not have an rotor installed, and"ROTOR" started flashing on the display, and the rotor icon displayed"Decel" inside. I was able to adjust the temperature set point, but I'm not sure how to actually get the chamber to start cooling down. Maybe it needs a rotor to cool down as well, but I'm really not sure. If there are any tests that you would like me to perform, just send me some instructions, and I'll be happy to follow them.
