Manufacturer: Beckman Coulter Model: Allegra(6R) Condition: Used Price: The photos show the exact item(s) the buyer will receive. Manufacturer: Beckman Coulter Condition: Used. This centrifuge has minor(normal) blemishes from use as well as a few small spots of surface rust which you have to be looking for to find. There is a spot on the front where the previous owners put a dot of orange paint. Which we mostly removed. The insides of the rotor bowl are heavily dented/scratched(see photos) Notes: We switched this centrifuge on and had no troubles getting it up to the 3.750 RPM maximum rating of the rotor. Speed control was VERY stable. We pulled the rotor off and were able to get 8000+ RPM with somewhat more over/undershoot(below min. rated ... moreloading) We set the speed to a couple hundred RPM with the rotor installed and the temperature was able to reach-10ºC. With the rotor spinning at 3000 RPM, it would only hold-6ºC. The manual at Beckman Coulter's website says it will take an"extended run" to get the temperature up to 40ºC and they weren't kidding. We stopped waiting at 32ºC after an hour of increasing temperature(from-10ºC) The brake works, reducing the rotor from 3750 RPM in 30(high) to 45(low) seconds, vs. 4+ minutes with the brake off. The door interlock works. The display is bright and clear. The refrigeration works. NO other testing was done. The refrigeration compressor and spinning centrifuge are VERY quiet. If you have a noisy ambient environment and run this unit at low speed. You might not even know it is on. No manuals, cords/cables, or additional items are included if not listed or shown. It went up to 13k rpm, and came back down. It seems that you can adjust the rate at which it speeds up and slows down, and it did do these things gradually. Refrigeration function works fine. Sorvall RT6000 Refrigerated Benchtop Centrifuge w/ Rotor RT-6000
The centrifuge powers up and runs. But it does have a couple of issues! The unit spins up and remains balanced and quiet(all the way up to 5.000+ RPM without issue) and all controls appear to be functional. REFRIGERANT HAS BEEN REMOVED, so the cooling ability of the unit has not been tested. The compressor does kick in when the thermostat is turned down to a temperature below the ambient temp. This centrifuge is university surplus equipment- for environmental reasons, university policy dictates that all refrigerant be removed from equipment before being sent to surplus. The lid lock engages. BUT refuses to disengage as it should- The solenoid that controls the lid lock CAN be manually overridden by pulling on a small'handle' underneath the unit- the last image above pictures one simple technique for accomplishing this. This problem ... moreshould not compromise functionality of the machine, providing the user is willing to put up with the inconvenience of manually unlocking the lid. It may be possible to repair the circuit, but a preliminary investigation the issue turned up no obvious problem. The unit is guaranteed to arrive as described. This unit powers on and works correctly. It speeds up. Slows down as you turn the rpm knob respectively. I have not yet verified that it cools or that it locks and unlocks correctly or not.
