Acurate Instrument Co. Inc. Model 257 tube tester
This tube tester is in rough condition. But appears to work. I tried a 7 pin and a couple of 9 pin tubes(not included) on it, and got good indications for a couple of them, and a"shorts" indication on the other. There are some handy pin straighteners in the top row, and one of the sockets is for Nuvistor tubes, which are kind of rare. I have listed it in the"for parts or not working" category. Mostly over concerns that some of the switches and sockets might need cleaning. All of the metal is rusty, and the material covering the wood enclosure is coming off. You can see this in the pictures. The manual is coming apart, but looks like it has all of the pages except for the front and back cover. It has a date of 1/68 on the first page. You are bidding on a Tube tester#151 by Accurate Instrument Co. with instruction manual in very good condition. 1960 model I think. The lid comes off to allow you to better use the instrument. This deal comes with 3 other manuals. RCA receiving tub manual from 1954 in fair to good condition. Also Tube substitution handbook numbers 14 and 17 from 1971 and 1974. These two books are in very good condition. You will also receive about 20 tubes of different sizes. The tester did work on a few of these but I do not know much about testing them so I don't know if they are good. Some did light up however. I do not know if the instrument is working properly or not, it seems like it is. Any questions please feel free to ask.

Was able to test it was working by plugging in. Turning Line voltage control to right and needle moved progressively to right. Includes all leads as shown in photo of inside lid. Any ... moreelectronics for that matter. I purchased it in a lot at auction. I can tell you I plugged it in. The lights came on under the chart(picture 2) and the needle went to center. Well, almost center, in the yellow anyway, as shown in picture 9. The chart is a little off kilter. And when you roll it, it's not always even and dips and rises as you're turning it, and seems loose inside. Maybe there's an adjustment underneath to take up the slack? There is a cut/ splitting in the casing of the red wire in more than one spot. So that will need to be changed. There is a pretty good patina build up on some spots. It surely needs a good cleaning. There is also some cracking at the top of the clear"window" covering the needle as shown in picture 9. Nothing horrible. The case is pretty crappy. The covering is peeling all over and one corner is coming apart or has come apart and barely hanging together. Also. It's clearly been stored in a basement, so has that musty basement smell. It comes with the manual which is hallway decent shape. Certainly useable, and a"Tube Test Data" booklet for Heath Model TC-1& TC-2 for use with roll chart 1-1-66, which this

Vintage Tube tester Accurate Instrument Co. Mod.157 Works good.
Here is a vintage Accurate Imstrument Co. Mod. 157 tube tester. I have taken photos of it testing several different tubes. I tested a 6Q7. 6C5, 6K7, 12BA6, and a 25L6. The readings came out comparable to a Hickock tester. I intentionally tested some different voltage tubes with different settings and tubes that have grid caps. I did not test all the sockets, so I sell this with no garantee and AS IS. The book included is worn and appears to be missing the front and back covers, but seems to be very readable and complete as far as a tube chart goes. The page shown in the one photo is the in the worst condition. I do not have a manual. I did however, when testing the tubes, simply looked up the tube, made the settings, pluged the tube in, turned the tester on, and as the tube warmed up, the meter gave a reading. There is no test button to push) ... moreYou always want to set the voltage first before plugging a tube in to be tested. I see listed on ebay a couple of different manuals for this instrument. I would probably pick one up if I bought this. I would like to also mention that this instrument was apparantly in a damp place, so the latch and hinges have rust. Vintage Heath Co. Heathkit Vacuum Tube Tester Checker Model TC-2 With Manual This is a nice vintage Heathkit TC-2 tube tester. It has only been tested to power up. It does power up with no issues. The light behind the tube list comes on and the needle on the meter goes to the yellow area when powered up. No further testing has been done. Overall this does have wear but looks good for its age. Outside case is original and has general surface wear. Corners are beat up and one is especially torn. Looks like someone added tape all the way around or it was put there by the company(looks decorative) Overall size is 14 1/2" x 12" x 6 1/2" The lid inside has a place where it is gaping but still sealed from outside. see last pic) A bit musty smelling.No burning smell hisses or noise.
