Up for auction is a rare Heathkit TT-1 tube tester. The unit comes complete with the user manual. As well as the original construction manual. Overall, the unit is in great physical condition. The faceplate sparkles with hardly a scratch on it! The outer case is somewhat faded, but the cloth is intact with the exception of on tear(see photos below) Some of the metal hardware has a little rust, but nothing too serious. I actually owned a TT-1 a few years back. And loved it. It's a great tube tester for someone who tests common audio tubes(6L6, 6V6, EL34, EL84, 12AX7, 6SN7, etc) The unit powered right up as the previous owner said it would, however, some of the knobs were very stiff, and a few would not turn at all. They will need to be cleaned and lubricated before the tester can be used. It also has a built-in roll chart for test set-up. Test sockets for: 4, 5, 6, 7 pin early type tubes, 8 pin octal and loctal tubes, 7,9,10 pin miniature tubes, 9,12 pin novar and compactron tubes and 5,7 pin nuvistor tubes. It tested alright/good but when I tried to calibrate this tester, I couldn't get the proper calibration reading. There were three calibration steps to perform but in the very first step, the meter didn't fluctuate as specified in the instructions. I don't know if I was performing the calibration properly as instructed or not. when I turned the pot that was specified in step one of the calibration instructions the needle didn't fluctuate as it was supposed to do. This to tube tester has worked well for me when I used it but I haven't used it much recently. In the photographs you can see it working well testing a 6v6 tube. Assume it may need calibration. Though, this tube looks to test accurately. This tester is in excellent condition and is a very highly regarded tube tester. Vintage Heathkit TT-1 Tube Tester Project
I have an older Heathkit TT-1 Tube Tester for sale. The case of the tester is in somewhat poor shape. Overall it's a desirable unit that would make a nice project. Case is coming apart on the edge. Hinges are loose. Please look at the closeup photo. I don't know much about testers, so I can't say if you can simply re-drill those hinge holes and re-fasten, or what. The material of the case is also pretty rough- faded, dirty, etc. Tester is untested. I wouldn't know where to begin. Panel is dusty and dirty. But the unit looks complete. It's somewhat loose from the case itself- see photo how I lifted it up out of the case a bit. I don't know how it's supposed to attach or whether this is typical. I see it as an issue, could be due to the case not being so great. I'm sure it would need to be gone through- tested, ... morecaps replaced, calibrated, whatever it needs. It's a project- don't expect it to work. Has several manuals with it. I'm sure others can be found online to print off. It's really heavy. Available for sale is a Heathkit TT-1 tube tester(with TTA-1-1 adapter) Complete with the original manuals. This tester was acquired from a gentleman who was downsizing his collection. The tester hadn't been used in many years. But I was told it was operational. Unfortunately, I did not receive the power cord with the unit. It takes am usual power cord(rounded 2-prong type) and while these are readily available on eBay, I do not have any in the shop. Because of this, I cannot test the unit. Because I cannot test it, I must sell it as-is. It may or may not require service and/or calibration. The case is missing the top cover. And the case itself has some rough edges on it. The exterior of the box isn't in the best shape. But inside looks great. Manual dated 4/4/69 is in nice shape. Manual dated 8/29/69 shows some water damage. There are other pieces of manuals dated 1/1/66 and 10/1/69. Also includes a Tube Substitution Handbook. This book shows a little water damage but is still in good shape. Hey guys. Up for sale is my Heathkit TT-1 Tube/Valve tester along with the rare optioned TTA-1-1 in the top of the lid. This machine is in museum quality condition and works great. The only issue with it is that view finder with the red line has fallen out of the tube rolodex/chart. However with some 2 faced tape. It can easily be reinstalled. The needle does not always fully line up with the Line Check, so I am going to assume it needs to be calibrated. It does line up though once fully warmed up when testing. Other than that this machine is in great original working condition. I however do not have the original power cord to it, but a usable one will be included. Comes with the original special valve manual along with a couple other print off of the original manual and a few other documents. Due to the age of this thing. I am going to assume ... morethat this machine does need a cap or two replaced. However for an experienced tech or a at home person with the knowledge, this would be very easy to do.
