Here is a very nice Hickok branded 83 tube that was removed from a working Hickok 539C. Tube is tested and is very nicely balanced as you can see from the meter reading on my Triplett 3444. tube has reasonably good marking. Particularly the Hickok logo and tube lot number of 63-35 274 marked on the bottom. 274 is RCA's EIAA code. tube will be double boxed for protection, so I am showing a shipping weight of. 2 pounds, which will allow for really good packaging. good luck bidding!

A used vintage Hickok 539B tube tester. See the 5th photograph for other wire connectors and bulbs also included. The working condition is not known. It has not been tested in any way. Selling"as is" The case has no cover. There is no roll chart. I have a used roll chart for other models that I am selling separately. The metal front has scratches and nicks. The knobs look good with a few light scuff marks. One of the knobs is a different shape. The meter covers show some wear with some scuff like marks. One screw around the edge is missing. It needs some cleaning. The case shows wear and the metal parts on it have some rust. Originally. I was not able to remove the tester from the case after removing all the outside edge screws. ITEM(S) FOR AUCTION This auction is for a vintage 1950’s Hickok Model 532 Dynamic Mutual Conductance Tube Tester in working condition. It needs a good surface cleaning and probably an interior cleaning as well. I have not opened up the face of it. The power light comes on and all the knobs are functioning as far as I can tell. As is the“rolling” graph or chart at the bottom. I don’t know how to use the equipment and there is no manual, so this unit is being sold“AS IS” with the power-up feature working as shown. I got the needle on the Dynamic Mutual Conductance gage to move by accidentally turning one of the knobs when it was powered up. The manuals shown were found inside the unit and consist of a GE Electronic’s Essential Characteristics 302 page manual and a Hickok Adapter chart. There is also some sort of socket on a wire coming out of the top of the control box and two orange sockets of some sort as shown in the photo. This is a Vintage Hickok model 540 Tube Tester. This was powered on and the lights came on and appears to be working fine. I don't know much about these devices but it appears to be in good running condition. This machine is around 70 years old. There is definite wear to this machine. Please check pics. MAIN METER HICKOK 539B or 539C – Tested for Accuracy – Nice!
This meter was removed from a clean operating 539B that I converted to all digital meters. If you have a 539C with the smaller plastic face meter. Then the testers metal face plate will have to be altered to make this fit. I can furnish a paper template if you want to do a conversion. It will be shipped with a shorting wire across the terminals to protect the movement from vibration. The meter is rated at 115 Microampst 172.5 Millivolts and 1500 ohms for full scale deflection. As shown in the pictures I checked it at several points on the meter scale. The voltage across the meter can be checked at the same time. But I have found it’s really not necessary unless the meter has been tampered with. It limits the maximum current to about 125 uA. Which is safe for these meters. If your old meter is not indicating at all check it with the circuit in the picture. If it’s open. Then replace the meter with a 1500 ohm resistor and measure the voltage across the resistor with a digital multimeter. A reading of less than172.5 mV reading while testing a tube would indicate the tester is operating in the normal meter range and anything greater than that would indicate troubles in the tester circuit. NEVER check these meters with an ohmmeter as it can damage the meter movement. This meter is sealed with markings to keep everything honest. HICKOK 600A DYNAMIC MUTUAL CONDUCTANCE TUBE TESTER AMP HI-FI TESTED AGAINST 539C
DESCRIPTION* Here's a decent Hickok 600A tube tester I have used for several years testing only some simple guitar-amp tubes: 6L6. 12AX7, 12AU7's. etc. I'm only selling it because I recently bought a calibrated 539C tester. It would continue to serve it purpose well as a"service tester" determining if tubes are shorted, and a general good vs bad idea if a tube is usable or not. I would not rely on it for matching tubes or for selling tubes based on a specific Gm output. I would question it's accuracy. It could probably be calibrated though to achieve more accurate results(it's never been calibrated to my knowledge) In fact. Just to see how it compared. I tested 2 of the same tubes both on this tester and my recently calibrated Hickok 539C. The tubes I checked were a 12AU7 and a 6L6. Here's how they compared: ... more6L6- on this 600A = 4.300 Gm 6L6- on 539C = 5.750 Gm(where 539C says Min. for 6L6 is 3.300) 12AU7- on this 600A = 1.900/ 2,000 12AU7- on 539C = 2.600/ 2,700(where 539C says Min. for 12AU7 is 1.950/1,950) So based on these readings it looks like you have a conservative margin for error to your advantage on this 600A(assuming the 539C is accurate) Both of these tubes read well into the Green"Good" range on the 600A at that. Also. A new power cord has been installed recently. It has a grounded-plug but the ground wire for some reason is not attached. So, I imagine it could still be attached and grounded if so desired. The tube-data chart does not roll properly when installed in the tester- it binds. If you remove it from the tester you can get it to reach both ends of it's chart though with no problem. For the time I used it, I just kept it out of the tester for that reason. This tester will ship completely assembled though as seen in the first 3 photos.
