Up for Auction ONE Hickok Roll Chart For models 532-533-533DM-534-534A-534B& 600 Tube testers. This auction is for the roll chart only and not the tube tester underneath it. The pictures do not show the entire chart but only a few areas from beginning to end. Date: 3-1-1956 Condition is very good. There are no brittle or rotted areas on the paper and seems strong. There is some light yellowing in a few various areas. I will ship this in a 10x10x4" box and not in any sort of flat cardboard envelope for better protection. I was going to treat it with"Map Life" paper preservative but decided not to and leave it original. I would suggest you apply this or similar preservative when you receive it.

1950's Hickok 600 tube tester. I aquired this tube tester from a retired engineer-audiophile who used it for the last 30 years. It is in good condition and working. The case has some bumps and scratches. But is otherwise solid. The faceplate has some wear from use, but is quite clean. One photograph shows this unit testing a 6L6 tube. Shipping weight is 26 pounds.

Hickok 600 Transconductance Tube Tester. Low Hours Tester was used on the bench of a gent that was not an engineer but in management. Owner had limited time and tester accumulated low hours. Tester was always in shop with the same atmosphere as the living quarters of a home. Switches have that low hours feel. Meter is working fine. Tube measurement results correlate closely with a known accurate TV-7. Faceplate has no wear at the usual spots. Chart is working with correct tension. Faceplate screws are all original. Cabinet shows some wear and what appears to be paint spots. Cabinet has no serious stains. Inside of tester has that sweet smell and not the damp musty smell of a tester stored in damp atmosphere. VINTAGE HICKOK TUBE TESTER MODEL 600 - FIXER UPPER OR PARTS - POWERS UP, NO LID!
Up for auction is a vintage Hickok tube tester Model 600. This unit has a missing lid/cover. The 5Y3 and 83 tubes are in working order. But the 83 is probably on its last legs, just an FYI. The tubes are dated 0-43 and 0-50. The meter is in working order too. Some mounting screws are missing and the case has normal wear, scratches, and a few gouges. The scroll works and is dated 12-1-56. All knobs and switches are in tact and appear to be functional. I was able to power this unit up without any fuss as you can see in the pictures. I tested three different tubes.80. 6CG7, and 6F6G. After testing the three tubes, I found the readings a bit lower in comparison with my TV7 tester. The worst reading was the first side of the 6CG7 as this tube is in good condition(both sides) but came up with a false bad. I also had trouble with testing a 12AX7, ... morewhere neither side gave me a reading for whatever reason. I believe all this unit needs is a good cleaning and calibration and some TLC. Unfortunately. I have no know-how in performing these things. This would make for a good candidate as a fixer upper or you may be inclined to use it for parts. The choice is yours. A used paper roll chart. I believe it is an original chart for Hickok tube testers- models 532. 533, 534, 534A, 534B, and 600. It shows wear. The paper has creases and short tears and nicks on the edges. One end of the roll has tears. I did not unroll it all the way so I do not know if there are any tears at the other end. There appears to be some tears on the edges of the other end. It is yellowed from age. Please view all 5 pictures.

Hickok 600 Tube Tester- Calibrated! HAM This is a very nice. Clean Hickok model 600 tube tester of the Dynamic Mutual Conductance type. The 600/800 series of testers were Hickok's most popular because of their easy portability and uncanny ability to identify tubes that were not performing properly. The 600 is still one of the easiest to use testers that has complete testing functionality. It has those 4-pin, 5-pin, 6-pin and 7-pin sockets you'll need for testing the tubes in your really vintage radios, as well as the"modern" 8-pin Octal and Loctal sockets and the 7 and 9-pin miniatures. The 600 uses a variable bias supply to properly bias the tube for testing. And high enough plate and screen voltages to properly exercise the tube under test. It also measures the presence of gas in a tube- something most testers can't ... moredo. The"ENGLISH" control can be set to read the quality of a tube on the Good-Bad scale, or to measure"Gm" on the three calibrated scales. The calibrated red dots on the English dial eliminate the need for a separate switch for Gm ranges. A neat trick that helped keep the tester small and portable. Hickok testers. With their patented testing circuit, are uncanny at finding bad tubes that other testers often miss- which is probably why the Hickok testers were used almost exclusively by the U.S. military. I find them best for that purpose too. This tester has been recently calibrated using the original factory calibration procedure. And is shown here measuring a NOS 6L6GC tube on the calibrated 6000 micromho"Gm" scale. The"bogey" value for a new 6L6 type tube on this instrument is 5000. The RETMA(Radio, Electronics& Television Manufacturers Association) standard for new tubes tubes was +/ 20% of the bogey value- tho major manufacturers tried to keep within half that limit. The readings were either very close or the same. The 6L6 shown being tested in the second picture tested at 40 on my TV-7/U(5000 Gm) The picture shows the same results obtained on the Hickock. Very similar to Hickok 600. 600A, 533, 533A, and uses almost identical data settings(e.g. 6L6: JR 53472, bias 17, RG" i.e. english or shunt, 88) Reads dynamic mutual conductance(gm) directly in micromhos. Works well; checked with: 5U4, 6AQ5, 6BQ5, 6L6, 6SN7, and 12AX7. Tests 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 pin tubes for shorts, gas, and quality, including: 5V4, 6CA4, 6CA7(EL34) 6BQ5, 7027, 7189, 7199, 7247 and 7591, actually, pretty much tube of the appropriate Hickok settings(which are available on the net) In some ways, it is better made than the Hickok on which it was based(IMO) Has a great"machine age" look to it. This one is in good condition. The only real defects I see are near one of the ends- there are a couple tears in the data for 12AT6(it's the filament voltage so you know that anyway) and OY4 ballast tube- I penciled it in. The edges near that same end are a little raggedy in some places(see the first photo) but that shouldn't affect operation. There are places that have yellowed with age more than others and a few places it looks to have been folded. But again they shouldn't be any issue to use or legibility.
