Hickok 800 Tube Tester. The diode test ports have been modified to test power tube current using a standard DMM for power tube matching. I will send instructions on how to use to the winning bidder if you are not familiar with this function which is commonly used on the 539 series. Also included are manuals and test data on CD. The 83 tube has been replaced with a voltage regulated SS device providing proper voltage drop. This unit had a rough shipping time getting to me and the wooden bracket on the left side came loose. And the top deck is slightly bowed. I have repaired the bracket, and everything fits pretty well but its not perfect, please see pictures. Electronics repaired and calibrated. My calibration voltages read- Plate Voltage = 151.9(150 +/ 5v) Screen Voltage = 133.3(135/5v) Reduced Screen Voltage = 55.7(56 +/3V) Max Bias =-38.9(39 ... more+/1V) This tester reads small signal tubes fine. 12AX7, 12AU7, 6CF8, etc but larger power tubes appear to sag the power supply a bit, and so read a little on the low side. This does not affect the current reading if matching power tubes using current readings. However I'm starting the bidding low. Guaranteed to be functioning on arrival but due to age of vintage gear otherwise no returns unless something is grossly mis-stated or is in error. I spent a lot of time on this unit and have went through just about every component. Meter reads full scale at 100uA. Bridge Balanced and also checked. Repaired, or replaced other resistors, capacitors, switches, etc. Calibration voltages now read- Plate Voltage = 150.4(150 +/ 3v) Screen Voltage = 133(135/3v) Reduced Screen Voltage = 56.9(56 +/2V) Max Bias = 42(40 +/2V) Everything is looks pretty good however the tester still ... morereads slightly high. It is important to test idle current when matching power tubes. This tester is the newer vintage of the 800A with the voltage set pot(see blue dial in interior pictures) This tester has been refurbished so that the clunky adjustment rig R15 for bias and reduced screen voltage can be quickly and easily set. The leakage/shorts check dial in this unit feels like there are an extra indent between settings. I have checked out the control and electrically it is functioning as designed and is in good shape you just need to ensure you are looking at where the dial is pointing in particular with that control. Refurbished Hickok 800 tester- Calibrated- Plate Current Mod- QuickCal Mod Hickok 800 tester. Case is in good condition but shows some signs of wear& the meter is slightly faded- please see photos. Note- the Hickok 800 tester is one of the few Hickoks that can measure tube leakage on the meter! The only difference between the 800 and the 800A is the 800A has the compactron sockets which this unit does not have. But compactrons can be tested on this unit if you have the CA-4 adapter. The tester has been modified to test Plate Current using the diode test points just under the meter. Instructions on how this works included. Hickok 800A tester- Calibrated- Plate Current Mod- QuickCal Mod. Cosmetically the case is a little rough and the meter face somewhat faded. But the tester is calibrated and working well. Price reduced accordingly, if you not looking for museum quality case, and just want a good working calibrated tester this might be the one for you. The electronics inside are very clean. Note- the 800A tester has the extra sockets to do the compactron tubes(without a separate adapter) It is also one of the few Hickoks that can measure tube leakage on the meter! Hickok 750 tester- Calibrated- Plate Current Mod- QuickCal Mod Working and calibrated Hickok 750 Tester- This was the replacement for the 539 Series. Roll Chart Dated 1972. This is the newer model that can test for leakage on the meter itself. This can be easily identified by the pilot light in the center of the tester. The older model had a shorts light in that location and the pilot light near the on switch. The tester has been modified to test Plate Current using the black noise test points in the center of the unit. The noise test has been retained and hooked up to a 1/8” socket. Shown between the two black test points. Instructions on how the plate current test works is included. It is important to test idle current when matching power tubes for class B or AB operation. The 5Y3 socket may need to be replaced someday. I have jumped a couple of connections to ensure stability and proper current flow. The socket is riveted in place and I do not have the proper tools to drill that out. Given that I get testers in that have 50 year old 5Y3 tubes that are still working this will probably outlast you or I as it is now, but wanted the buyer to be aware. I took this unit on a road trip with me recently it is solid should be transportable when needed if done so with care. I do not own or use any voltage regulator tubes so the accuracy of those test functions are unknown. The case is in good shape for its age with no large tears but the covering is curling up

Hickok 6000a - Plate Current Mod - Cal Mod - Intermittent Buttons
Hickok 6000a- Plate Current Mod- Cal Mod- Intermittent Buttons This 6000a has intermittent Filament Continuity and Gas check buttons. You have to press/wiggle them a bit to get the tester to set line. But then the tester will check tubes using the test button. It appears the open switch contacts have a coating of something like deoxit on them that has left a film on the contacts. I have included a picture of one section where you can see its turned colors. Someone with skill or proper tools could clean and adjust these contacts and the unit would probably be fine then, but its a bit beyond what Im wiling to risk taking apart(Im better with electrical than mechanical) and so Im listing this AS IS, FOR PARTS ONLY, No Returns. No Exceptions. I have included a picture of me testing a used 5881(6L6) So electrically the tester does work if fiddled ... morewith enough and I also calibrated it best I could with the intermittent switches. The tester has been modified and the diode check terminals have been converted to test Tube Plate Current. the old wires are still there if you want to convert back) I have also changed out the old fiddly sliding calibration adjustments with pots for easy calibration.
