Heathkit IT-21 Tube Tester- Nice! Accurate! HAM Here's a nice. Clean Heathkit model IT-21 tube tester. It has all the sockets you've been looking for to test the tubes in your vintage radios. It'll test those older 4-pin, 5-pin, 6-pin, and even 7-pin tubes, as well as the later 8-pin Octal, 8-pin Loctal and the 7-pin and 9-pin miniatures. It also has sockets for both 5-pin and 7-pin Nuvistors, 9-pin Novar tubes and 12-pin Compactrons. The 9-pin miniature socket has an additional center pin to also accept 10-pin miniature tubes. The test circuit of the IT-21 is identical to Heath's later models IT-17 and IT-3117, and the earlier"TC" models, and the test data for these testers is also usable with the IT-21. To ensure accuracy of a newly built kit. Heath didn't provide any calibration adjustments for this model ... moretester, relying instead on the inherent accuracy provided by using close tolerance components in the measuring circuits. All the components of this instrument have been checked for accuracy and found to be well withing their original specifications; and this TC-3 is working as it should on all ranges. The workmanship is impeccable and very neat with proper layout. The connections and solder joints are professionally done. And it even has the little"extras" like laced wiring not usually found on a kit instrument. The workmanship of this instrument is as good as I've seen on any electronic instrument- even the expensive professional stuff. Vintage Heathkit Tube Tester Model IT-21, very good condition, fully functional
Up for auction is a Heathkit Tube Tester Model IT-21. This tube tester is in excellent cosmetic condition. There are minor scuff and scrapes on it. But nothing out of the ordinary for a vintage piece such as this. There is a knob missing on the lower right side and on the bottom of the unit the caps on the A& L levers are also missing. It is missing two foot pads on the left side and also on the back side it is missing one foot pad on the top left side on the back of the tester. Other than those few flaws, this is a very clean unit that has been tested and all knobs and switches and plugs& plug-ins appear to function properly. I was not able to test every bulb socket because I did not have all the sizes, I did have 7 different bulbs a few different sizes and each worked so I assume all the other sockets do too. Heathkit IT-21 Tube Tester Must See 7868 6550 EL34 6SN7
This is a model IT-21 tube tester made by Heathkit. It is in excellent condition and is working very well. This will test 4. 5, 6, 7 prong older tubes, 7, 9, 10 pin miniature, octal, loctal, nuvistor, 9, 12 pin compactron, and pilot lights. Some of the tubes this will test are O1A, 6l6, 6550, 12AX7, 7591, 45, 50, 71A, 6SN7, and hundreds more. Notice the 3 tubes I tested with this tester. I even tested a known weak EL34 and it tested bad. All filament voltage selections on the switch were tested. The plastic window has come un-glued over the tube chart roll. I will include this if you decide to put it back on. Tester front panel shows a little normal wear. Case looks great. Unit is un-restored, and un-modified. This Heathkit IT-21 Tube Tester- Checker is from an estate so we don't know about its history. But appears to be in pretty good condition. It really only needs to be cleaned up a bit, but we will leave that to the new owner. The knobs all turn freely and the levers all move securely into their three detent positions. Regardless of it they have a knob or not. The thumb-wheel on the right moves the tube selector drum. But we don't know what the thumb-wheel on the left is supposed to do. The area in front of the tube selector drum is open. But we don't know if is supposed to be open or not. We powered it up and the panel lights illuminate. And as seen in the photo, the meter needle centers on the scale for Line Test. We have no tubes to test it with, so it is being sold as is, untested. Heathkit IT-21 vacuum tube tester
Seems to work fine but I don't know much about them. I tested a bunch of tubes and so I think it's fine but I have to sell it as-is since I don't know how to test all the functions. There's one cable that I showed in the second picture that is clipped off. I have no idea what it's for. Here for your consideration is an Exceptional Heathkit IT-21 Transconductance Tube Tester that looks like someone just finished building it in 1964. This is one of the best and most versatile tube testers ever made. This 13” x 10” x 6” tester has 12 sockets and covers a very wide range of tubes from the earliest 4 pin tubes right through sweep tubes and compactrons. Very few testers do this whole range. The IT-21 was offered by Heathkit from 1962 to 1964 and sold for $44.95 as a kit in my 1964 Heathkit catalog. This tester comes with the Heathkit Assembly Manual.
