Vintage HICKOK MODEL 546 Vacuum Radio Audio Tube Tester NO RESERVE!
Vintage test equipment in used condition. Has missing/wrong screws on face plate. There is some electrical tape around the power cord where it goes through the plaate. The carrying case shows signs of wear but overall very good condition. The paper reel is intact with no tears and the thumb dial works smoothly. Testing: Unit powers up. The line adjust works. Tested a few known good and bad tubes on the 9-pin socket only. It"passed" the good tubes and"failed" the bad ones so it appears to be somewhat functional. Instrument is not/has not been cailbrated so accuracy is not known. That is the extent of the testing that was done. No manuals. Test leads, socket adapters etc included. For sale here is a HICKOK Model 532 vacuum tube tester. The unit is working as you can see by the first picture im testing a known good 6L6. The unit does seem to be complete though unit will need a good cleaning as most tube testers do. I sprayed the insides down with deoxit to help with connectivity and electrical lubricant to help the switches turn smoothly. As with all tube testers it MUST be assumed that the unit needs a calibration. As you can see it is working powering on(pilot lamp needs replaced) etc. The roll chart is free and moving as well as the switches and knobs including a free moving meter. Due to its age and unknowns the unit is sold as is with no returns. The unit is in a metal case and is fairly heavy. Powered by The free listing tool. Precision Model 912 Tube Tester This is an old Tube Tester that I believe was first manufactured in the late 1940’s by the Precision Apparatus Co. Elmhurst. New York. The case is in good physical condition with just the normal scuffs and scrapes for a 60 year old unit. When the unit is powered on. The meter moves from the red zone to the yellow zone(See pictures) but that is all I can tell about the working condition of the unit. It comes with multiple rolls of tube data that provide the info for different tube specifications. It also has what appears to be an addition 9 pin test socket adapter for smaller tubes. Selling my Vintage Triplett vacuum tube tester after it serving me well for many years. I just don't have the use for it anymore as I am not as active as I used to be in the antique radio hobby. This set is in excellent original condition and even includes original hang tags and even has the original warranty card that was never mailed. My Dad had sent away for a manual from the Triplett company and he was fortunate enough for them to mail him back a photo copy of the manual that is also included as well as the mailing they sent for other products. They are still in business today! This tester is very much like other brands like Hickok or Precision or Jackson. As far as condition the carry handle just broke off on me when I went to pick it up but it can be easily repaired for appearance, I should of known better not to try and use the ... morehandle on any vintage radio or test equipment. SECO MODEL 107 VACUUM TUBE TESTER / BOOKLET
Picked this up from a local estate. I don't know much about this sort of item and have no tubes to test it and even if I had tubes I wouldn't know how to operate it or what to look for. Looks pretty clean on the inside. Outside latches show some rust. Outside case shows some wear here and there. Missing 4 of the rubber feet. I did plug it in and the eye lighted up and the eye adjustment knob opened and closed the eye. I also pushed the red button that says press to adj. line and the needle moved to the center of the dial. So I know those 2 items work to some extent. Has some other box that holds testtubes attached to where the cord is stored and there is also a plugged in clip that also stores in the same compartment. Outside is in pretty decent condition. With one small stain, a very small tear, and a little rust on the latch. Inside is beautiful and spotless. The screws have a little bit of rust. This is my father's beloved Eico Model 625 Eico Tube Tester. Has the 4, 5, 6, and 7-pin sockets, the Octal/Loctal, 7-Pin and 9-Pin Miniature sockets. It has Shunt, Line Adjustment, Filament, Selector, with a few other swithes. The center scroll moves freely and guessing it is original as it is somewhat discolored. The light behind the scroll lights up. I was too afraid to plug in a tube, afraid I would blow up something either on the machine or the tube itself. It does not have the original instruction manual. The front is a vibrant blue with grey edges and the case is military green. History: My father was in the US Air Force and was a radio operator. He retired and they hired him as a civilian associate. I bought this tube tester used as a young ham decades ago. I used it lightly over the years to test vacuum tubes for transmitters. Receivers and amplifiers. All this time it was stored on a shelf under my bench in a dry non-smoking environment. I recently powered it up to test a set of old tubes prior to sale. You'll see one of these in the photo. This is TUNG-SOL Model 78 tube tester by Seco Electronics, Inc. Seco Manufacturing Company) of Minneapolis, Minnesota U.S.A. The serial number is 5051. It is a small portable unit measuring approximately 10 1/2 x 9 x 5 inches, housed in a hinged wood box with what appears to be a plastic covering, metal hinges and latch, and a plastic handle. There are 4 metal feet on the bottom. The case has two compartments. On the right side is the electronics chassis with tube sockets, switches, pots, plate ... morecap, and meter. This tester seems to work ok. Occasionally I would have to flip or rotate the switches a couple of times to get it to work. The more I used it. The better it seemed to work. I'm not for sure but it would seem that maybe some of the contacts need cleaned, maybe blown out? Also the needle seems to jump or jitter around while testing, I don't know if this is normal. The face plate is in pretty good condition with some minor dings and scuffs. The outer housing is missing a lot of the finish and has some minor surface rust. I'm not sure if the two light bulbs on the lower corners are working. They had never came on when I tested a few tubes. It looks like the power cord may have been replaced. The information/data scroll has one small spot that had been tore and taped back together(see picture) My knowledge of things of this nature ... moreare minimal. Dubbed the'Mustang' was developed in 1965 by Hickok Electrical Instrument Company. in Cleveland Ohio and it retailed for $199 or $1,500 in today's money. I purchased this beautifull unit about 12 years ago in a Ham Fest here in Florida. I repaired and used it for awhile then it stayed in the attic, with my Hi-Fi& tube collection until I moved out recently. As you can see in the pictures. Some lettering on front panel are faint but still readable. This is a collectible vintage electronics item and there is no DOA(dead on Arrival) guarantee. Eico 666 Tube Tester. I plugged it in and nothing happened. I have no way to test the unit. The fuse looks to be good. I can't tell if the bulb is good. Or not. Everything is complete except for the rubber ring that protects the power cord. I did retape the paper to the rollers and that works fine, now. The case has rust, scrapes, and scratches.
