This Hickok 800 Mutual Conductance checker is in great working condition. R ecent calibration done per mfg. specs, calibration data/ settings sheet i s included. Line cord has been professionally replace d with modern 3 prong cord for safety- front panel is now always grounded- but o riginal line cord will be included in sale. Photos show various tubes being checked. Includ ing a 6L6. A 12AT7, and an 811. Checks for shorts and leakage. Also checks diodes and discrete transistors. Missing only the red plate cap lea d. The black lead can be used for tubes with plate caps. For tubes with both grid and plate caps an additional lead will be needed; you can make one or they are available on eBay. I gave the front panel a light cleaning- more cleaning could be done. But I didn't want to risk any damage. As you can see from the photos, no lab ... moreel/ lettering is missing or damaged. Not even any sign of wear. The meter lens has a couple of small cloudy spots, see photo 7. They are not obtrusive and don't interfere with reading the data. It was surplus from a company that set up their own repair department for the service of their fleet of tube type UHF and VHF radios in the 1960s. Soon after they did this they converted to the more modern transistor type of radios. As such this item has had almost no use. They just recently had an auction to reduce some of their surplus tools and stock. I have used it to check some tubes and it appears to work properly and has similar readings to a B&K tube tester. Hickok 800 Tube Tester. The diode test ports have been modified to test power tube current using a standard DMM for power tube matching. I will send instructions on how to use to the winning bidder if you are not familiar with this function which is commonly used on the 539 series. Also included are manuals and test data on CD. The 83 tube has been replaced with a voltage regulated SS device providing proper voltage drop. This unit had a rough shipping time getting to me and the wooden bracket on the left side came loose. And the top deck is slightly bowed. I have repaired the bracket, and everything fits pretty well but its not perfect, please see pictures. Electronics repaired and calibrated. My calibration voltages read- Plate Voltage = 151.9(150 +/ 5v) Screen Voltage = 133.3(135/5v) Reduced Screen Voltage = 55.7(56 +/3V) Max Bias =-38.9(39 ... more+/1V) This tester reads small signal tubes fine. 12AX7, 12AU7, 6CF8, etc but larger power tubes appear to sag the power supply a bit, and so read a little on the low side. This does not affect the current reading if matching power tubes using current readings. However I'm starting the bidding low. On a few of the tube sockets some tubes seem to need a little convincing to make a good connection but this shouldn't be a big deal. Original cord has been replaced. Instead of the original 2 prong cord it has been replaced with a 3 prong cord without the 3rd pin. Outer case shows wear but handle and hinges are fine and work as they should. Refurbished Hickok 800 tester- Calibrated- Plate Current Mod- QuickCal Mod Hickok 800 tester. Case is in good condition but shows some signs of wear& the meter is slightly faded- please see photos. Note- the Hickok 800 tester is one of the few Hickoks that can measure tube leakage on the meter! The only difference between the 800 and the 800A is the 800A has the compactron sockets which this unit does not have. But compactrons can be tested on this unit if you have the CA-4 adapter. The tester has been modified to test Plate Current using the diode test points just under the meter. Instructions on how this works included. The power cord looks good and the jumper cord is present. The built in tube chart roller operates very smoothly. I could not find the manual. But I see they can easily be gotten right here on ebay. This tester belonged to my father K2UBU. He was a Ham radio operator from 1956 on and took very good care of his equipment.
