Sigwalt #11 Letterpress printing press - restored & 100% print ready
This press has been completely disassembled. All painted parts were stripped down to the metal and re-finished with 2 coats of primer then 2 coats of color and a clear coat. All non-painted parts(pivoting rods. Ink arms, etc. were cleaned thoroughly. The fasteners in platen back and chase have been replaced with new stainless steel hex drive screws. The platen has been balanced to the chase bed with.040" packing under the tympan and is included with the press. The additional sheets of press packing included will allow you to change the packing under the tympan to adjust the print impression height as you change stock caliper. This is much easier than re-balancing the platen each time you change stock caliper. The press is currently packed to print on.012" stock. For example. If you wanted to print on.007" stock, you would add ... morea sheet of.005" packing under the tympan. As with any press, the condition of your type and blocks and the uniformity of the type height will ultimately determine the quality of the printed image. The type used to print the proof card was not new. Rollers& trucks are new. Rollers have only been used on this press(to verify press balance and roller& truck quality) to print the card in the photo gallery for this item. The press has been secured with stainless steel fasteners to a base made of oak which is stained& coated with a satin polyurethane. Rubber feet are fastened to each corner of the underside of the base so the press& base will not'walk' when printing. Base is long enough so that the back of the press will not lift off when you push the press on impression. A 1 inch notch is on the top to latch it on the press with 4 adjusting screws on the bottom and two on one side. There is an aluminium runner on one side that is removeable that i do not know how it stays on when put into the press. All used and in great shape.

Back cover and some binding coming apart in the back with water damage on the bottom part of pages in back with the part on machinery. Pages 1139 and on. Some of the front pages stuck together a little bit from water. The rest of the pages with the type styles and extras are good with dirt and dust from the cellar of a print company where it was found. It's heavy and dirty and dusty and has seen better days, But is still great for checking on type styles and the extras that went along with letterpress printing 100 years ago. The mechanics all move smoothly. The paper on the tray is from the 1970s so this was still in use locally not too long ago. I believe this to be complete except for the ink rollers. Letterpress 23" x 35" Barely Used Cylinder Press Steel Die Cut Jacket
This is a letterpress cylinder die cut jacket apparently for a 23" 58.4 cm) x 35" 88.9 cm) cylinder press made by Bar-Plate. A company that makes after market die cut jackets. It has a virtually untouched canvas tie down. What press it was made for is unknown, but I have used jackets exactly like this for Heidelberg cylinder presses. It has been sitting in an ex-wife's garage after the husband's business was disbanded and she has lost track of her husbands ex-employees, so there is no way to find out exactly what type of press it was for. Apparently, it was only used for two jobs before the business closed. There are a few small die cut circles on the otherwise pristine surface. There is also the ghost image of a kiss cutting job that has not made any permanent damage. Otherwise, the jacket is in brand new condition. The ... morecylinder that it was designed for is about 14" in diameter. My estimation that the sheet size of the press is just that: an estimate. The jacket actual goes for 25" but I haven't heard of a 25" x 35" press. The gripper edge has ten 1/4" diameter holes drilled in it. This unit is in four pieces: the printing mechanism itself, the work bench with 28 drawers, a rolling typeface rack and a light hood. This sign press comes with a compliment of over 3,000 pieces of individual lead typeface(12 full drawers of type similar to Futura, Arial, Helvetica, Script and Felt Pen) plus several 14" rollers in good condition and an excellent 13.75" x 13.75" ink plate. There are many, pre-made blocks of type with often-used words like, NOW" Special" and"Today" plus many more. This is a vintage Ideal#2 stencil cutting machine that cuts 5/8" letters and numbers. It is still operative- even though a portion of the circular handle on the top is broken off and missing. You turn the round handle to the letter or number you wish. Then press down the lever at the front. This cuts the letter or number into the cardboard. There is another lever to reset the machine. Due to the weight(almost 70 pounds) It can either be picked up or I can meet you within a 50 mile radius of Dover, Ohio or it can be shipped via UPS ground for $45.00. I have seen my share of tabletop letterpresses. But this thing beats them all! It is so clean and so smooth, I question if it was ever even used. NO ink smudges, NO gouges of ANY kind on the ink table, the previous owner must have loved this baby. These pictures are from the press being taken directly out of my car. nothing touched AT ALL! PLEASE READ. It comes with 3 chases. And 7 SEVEN perfect trays of type. Yup, 7! They all have the cut portions of the type packaging so you can tell what is in the trays. Trays are Incredible, again, NO INK, nothing, all type is super clean and shiny. It does NOT have any rollers, I looked everywhere at the house I got it at, but I am guessing they got thrown out by mistake, I can't see how he could have such an amazing machine and not keep his rollers in equally perfect shape. This is a die cutting form to die cutting tabs for file folders. The square ones are 1 inch and when they are cut out they are folded in half. Doing it this way you will have the same or different information on each side of the tab. The printing has to be head to head. top to top) and each centered in a 1/2 by 1 inch box. This Ellison stencil cutter is in excellent working condition but does show normal wear. The lettering on the name plate under the handle is worn and it appears that a piece of rubber for the handle rest is missing. It comes with 30 blocks; 26 two-inch letters of the English alphabet. One four inch capital S, four-inch circle, a three and seven eigths by five-inch rectangle having a three by two-inch oval cut out in the center for masking photos for a 4 x 5 inch picture frame, and lastly a two-inch question mark. The blocks are constructerd of wood and foam in which the steel cutters are imbedded. The blocks are all in excellent condition but do show signs of usage.
