Offered here now is this old Excelsior 5 x 8 letter press made by Kelsey and Company. It is in nice condition with original grey paint. There is normal surface oxidation and areas of paint loss. The mechanics all move smoothly. The paper on the tray is from the 1970s so this was still in use locally not too long ago. I believe this to be complete except for the ink rollers. Working and in Great Condition! A German made Press by B. Grauel& Co. Modell B3 Includes chase and gelatin rollers on new trucks. Rollers are useable and has polished ink disk. The Model B3 prints on objects with flat. Curved or uneven surfaces. It will produce a sharply defined, accurately registered print on such articles as containers, bottles and vials for cosmetics and pharmaceuticals; transistors, diodes, connectors and capacitors for electronics; electrical switches, bulbs, sockets and plastic parts for housewares and toys. In fact, it prints on almost any item made of plastic, metal, glass, ceramic, rubber or wood. HOW IT IS DONE: The flexible pad takes up the print copy impression. Early GOLDING OFFICIAL Tabletop Letterpress Looks to be a Model 2. Great for YOUR Collection. Great way to get into Tabletop Printing. Up for offer is a Original Golding Official Letterpress. Looks to be a Model 2 although I cannot verify that. Marked GOLDING MFG. CO. as well as FRANKLIN. MASS. USA on one side and OFFICIAL on other side. Press is missing the ink disk and the chase as can be seen in photos. Also missing the small finger that rotates the ink disk. No ink rollers. Ink rollers should be readily available on ebay. This could easily be operated without the ink disk as the form could be inked with a hand brayer until a disk can be obtained. Has normal wear from use and storage including scratches. Scuffs, marring and some light spots of surface corrosion is several spots. I have cleaned it and oiled it to the best of my ability ... moreand it LOOKS GREAT. No breaks or repairs. Looks to have what might be original paint. The press opens and closes very nicely and operates very smoothly. Paper platen is offset slightly to the left of the chase area(pic 4) I believe this is as it was set up from the factory. Has gripper arms as shown. J hooks are nice and move freely in guides. J hook springs look to be original and function well. Paper platen measures approx. 4 1/2" x 6 7/8" Weight is approx. 41 pounds. The rollers were restored at some point and works great. The ink pan turns every time the handle is pulled. It measures 19" long, 15" high and 10" wide. Parts/Fix Kelsey & Co Excelsior 3 x 5" Letterpress Tabletop Printing Press 1893
I sold this quite awhile ago for $300. However unfortunately the plate was cracked in two during shipping and another arm beneath the plate has broken. I'm sure there's people out there who can salvage the parts or perhaps even repair this to working condition. There is some light rust which can clearly be seen in the orange hue. Originally this was black with gold detailing. Much of this black patina and gold detail remains but it is far from complete. This weighs near 30 pounds(shipping will be based upon buyer location since it is so heavy) There is an April 6. 1893 patent date as well as patent numbers for England, France and Germany. I am not real familiar with these letter presses. So I won't be able to answer technical questions. This would need a fair amount of TLC to bring it back to life, but there are inevitably some ... moregood parts on here that can be used to go that route. Shipped based upon buyer location(shipping something this heavy out West can be very expensive) If I'm able to find a cheaper option than the one automatically calculated(USPS Parcel) then that will be used and I will pass savings onto you. Payment I have had to take precautions because of people not paying. You will have 4 days to pay. Then an unpaid item case will be opened. From this point you will have another 4 days to pay. Vintage Craftsmen Monarch 9 x 12 Tabletop Letterpress Printing Press C&P Pilot
One of the largest Tabletop Printing Presses! Craftsmen Monarch 9" x 12" Letterpress Printing Press After Chandler& Price went out of business. Craftsmen Machine Co. of Massachusetts made these copies of the Chandler& Price Pilot. Many of the parts are exact or close copies of the Pilot press and are interchangeable with the Pilot. These later Craftsmen Presses. Like this one, was made of high strength cast aluminum. This monster table top press only weighs 125 lbs(less than half of what is would weigh if in cast iron! This press is fully operational. And includes brand new rubber Rotadyne Rollers and new Craftsmen trucks that I purchased from Craftsmen Machinery Co. which is still in business in Mass. This press includes a Chandler& Price(8 1/2 x 12) chase which fits this machine perfectly without alteration and are ... morereadily available. The funny and sad story about the chase. I purchased this from a home print shop and the owner had never used the press in the almost 30 years he owned it. The press actually shows little use. Over the years he lost the chase. Which I found is almost impossible to locate. Craftsmen sold me their last used one for $180 and the post office left it in front of my shop where it was stolen. As a last resort I tried every chase that I had sitting in the shop and low and behold, the most common chase available fit perfect. The chase is a bit beefier than the Craftsmen chase so it only has a 8.5x12 inner size rather than the 9x12 that the original had, but given that the C&P chase can be found any day for about $40, it makes the press even more versatile. I will be happy to sell the high bidder as many chases as they need for $40 each. You can pick the press up at my shop Antyke. In Scituate, Rhode Island for no charge. Offered in this auction is a Kelsey& co 6x10 model E Excelsior table top letterpress printing press. In great condition. No dents or cracks. Free from rust. many, many extras. 23 full trays of letters, sorted, not mixed. Rubber rollers are used with dried ink on them. Pivot points are free moving. Very hard to find these in this condition and with all the bells and whistles. The original cabinet cannot fit all the letter trays! All sorts of pieces, and extras in very old cigar boxes is how they were stored. It was stored in gentlemans attic for years. All sorts of printing manuals also included. The press weighs 85 lbs. SIGWALT CHICAGO No.11 Tabletop PRINTING PRESS LETTERPRESS
Sigwalt Chicago#11 letterpress. This is a wonderful Sigwalt Chicago tabletop letterpress. Believe this is the#11 press as it does hold two rollers. The press is black with gold accent paint and retains most of the decal decoration on one side. But only a portion on the other side. This press measures approximately 17' long with handle down, 14' with handle up, 6-1/2' wide and weighs about 12.4 lbs. It is in very good working condition with smooth action but does not come with a chase, type or rollers. The paint is in good condition with some paint loss and normal wear. This displays beautifully and is a nice example of a small Sigwalt letterpress. Questions are welcomed and thanks for the interest! Insurance is included with shipping price.

Good solid piece with no weak spots in cast metal. Looks great as it sits, would look amazing with a 20 minute cleaning or ready for cleaning and paint and it will look as it did new. Chandler and Price Pilot Press letterpress tabletop C&P (Kelsey Vandercook)
We are selling our Chandler& Price Pilot Press. This press is unrestored. But is in full working order with all original parts(with the exception of 1 spring and the feed board) We have owned the press for 8 years and printed some projects on it, but our volume and sizes requirements forced us to work commercial letterpress printers instead. Since then it has safely sat unused in our studio. When we bought the press from a shop that had closed. We had it refurbished to perfect working condition by a Pilot expert in his shop. Other than some dust, its condition is unchanged from then. There are no cracks and no missing parts-with the exception of rollers. These were misplaced in a move, but new ones can be bought from NA graphics for about $100 each. All adjustable parts move as they should(impression screws nuts, tympan bales, and grippers) ... moreIt could use some cleaning and some oiling, but otherwise it doesn't need any further restoration to print capably for a long time. We're also including all the extra parts and tools pictured below. Other than rollers and whatever plates you'll be printing with. This is everything you'll need to get up and running: 3 6.5 x 10 Pilot Chases. A composing stick. 8 nearly full tubes of 1/2 pound ink(most unused) from NA graphics. Leads and slugs. Assorted furniture and reglests. 2 Challenge Hi-Speed Quoins(6" and 9" with Barplate Quoin key. 5.5 Kelsey Quoins and Quoin key. Some loose type and spaces. Most type is from small jobs that remained setup when we inherited the press. 10 gauge pins. Steel wool and 1 gallon Color Wash. 4 shop trays and a few other extras. We spent a lot of time and $100s tracking down these items. And getting them all with the press will spare you a lot of hassle. We've loved this press. I believe it was probably made by the Baumgarton Co. although there are no marking from that Company and that Company was connected to Baltimore Printing Press. The Base of the Press measures 4 1/2 by 6 inches and it has some wear and paint wear plus there are a couple spots with older grinder marks with one on the side of Red Handle and one on the smaller Green Handle(photo 7) There are no Letters or other accessories with the Press. Since there are no Letters on the Press the Handle goes further ... moredown than normal so it needs to be lifted a little in the middle swivel area to clear and lift handle. The press was made by J. F. W. Dorman of Baltimore MD. The name on the press is"monumental lever#1" The inside measurements of the chase are 6 x 8 7/8. They call that a 6 x 9 chase. This is a double roller production press. This press was built to work! The cast-iron arms have built in Greece valves. The highest point of the press on the stand is 46 inches. Just the press is 24 inches high including the handle. The press is 25 inches wide including the handle and 21 inches deep with the platen open. The feet on the base are 16 x 20.
