Kelsey Excelsior 3x5 Model M Letterpress + extra chase - 100% restored
My best guess on the original manufacture date of this press is 1940's or 50's. I am including an extra refurbished chase with locking bars with this press. This press has been completely disassembled. All painted parts were stripped down to the metal and re-finished with 2 coats of primer then 2 coats of color and a clear coat. The raised type in the castings have been accented with silver paint. All non-painted parts(pivoting rods. Ink arms, etc. were cleaned thoroughly. The fasteners in platen back and chase have been replaced with new stainless steel hex drive screws. The chase latch spring and platen spring are both new and made of stainless steel. The platen has been balanced to the chase bed with.060" packing under the tympan and is included with the press. The additional sheets of press packing included will allow you ... moreto change the packing under the tympan to adjust the print impression height as you change stock caliper. This is much easier than re-balancing the platen each time you change stock caliper. The press is currently packed to print on.012" stock. For example. If you wanted to print on.007" stock, you would add a sheet of.005" packing under the tympan. As with any press, the condition of your type and blocks and the uniformity of the type height will ultimately determine the quality of the printed image. The type used to print the proof card was not new. Rollers& trucks are new and have only been used on this press(to verify press balance and roller& truck quality) to print the card in the photo gallery for this item. The press has been secured with stainless steel fasteners to a base made of oak which is stained& coated with a satin polyurethane. Rubber feet are fastened to each corner of the underside of the base so the press& base will not'walk' when printing. Base is long enough so that the back of the press will not lift off when you push the press on impression. Included with this press: 2 rollers& trucks- 2 sheets.010 press packing-

Vintage Kelsey & Company Letterpress Chase
You are bidding on a vintage Kelsey& Company letterpress chase. It measures 11 1/2 in. by 7 3/4 in. out side and 10 1/4 by 6 1/4 inside. A 1 inch notch is on the top to latch it on the press with 4 adjusting screws on the bottom and two on one side. There is an aluminium runner on one side that is removeable that i do not know how it stays on when put into the press. All used and in great shape.

Letterpress printing press Craftsman Pilot C&P table top CHASE 6 1/2 x 10" type
Chase for a large table top printing press. I had several of these laying around. If I recall correctly I got them with a Craftsman brand table top press with a 6 1/2 x 10" printing area. They may also fit a C&P Pilot which is designed and made very similar to the Crafstman. I'll give you the chase dimensions so you can measure your particular press to see if it will fit. My chase does NOT have the little wedge protrusions on the side that are used to fit and mount some chases. My chase would nest into two feet at the lower section of the press and be secured with a movable spring loaded clamp at the top. DIMENSIONS are: 6 1/2 x 10 inside and the outside measures 7 7/8 x 11 3/8. Chase is in fine usable condition. It will hold metal or wood type. No damage or repairs. It lays flat. Letterpress chase 20 and 5/8 by 15 and 3/8 No welds-no rust
I'm selling an old printers chase used at the print shop that I worked at in the late 60's. Early 70's. I'm not positive but I think it was used on a Kluge letterpress. The chase measures 15 and three-eights by 20 and 5-eights-outside dimensions and 13 and one eighth by 19 inside dimensions. It's in super nice condition with no rust or welds. Shortly thereafter I bought a Chandler& Price 6x9 and sold my 3x5. Then in college I bought Kelsey 5x8 and mades lots of money. Over the years I owned many presses. But each move ended up sadly selling them. About 7 years ago, to relive my youth and joy of printing, I started buying presses to use and restore. Don’t ask how many, but it is not fair to have them in storage when someone else could enjoy them. Kelsey Mercury Excelsior 5x8 Model P Printing Press With Chase
This is a Kelsey Mercury Excelsior 5x8 Model P printing press. It is in solid working condition and includes the chase. But it is missing some other parts. Most notable is the feed dog that turns the ink plate on each press. The hole that it goes into is open and pictured in photo#8. Also missing are the grippers, gripper spring, and the screws that go into the chase. That's all that I know is missing, but I'm not extremely familiar with these presses, so if it isn't in the photograph, then it isn't included. The machine operates smoothly and all nuts and bolts turn freely. Also included is"The Printer's Guide" by the Kelsey Company and"Do Your Own Printing" which is a catalog also put out by Kelsey.
