Let me know if you have any specific part you want me to list, and I'll endeavor to list it ASAP. These are Brass Balancing Shims to balance the cylinder. Usually. You will never need these, but if you have a bad jam, the cylinder impression may become uneven. You can fix this fairly easily by loosening the two large mounting bolts on the side you wish to adjust and sliding the shims down and re-tightening the bolts. That is why the shims are in a"C" shape: they slide down each side of the mounting bolt. There are 5 thick(about 1 point) and 7 thin(about 1/2 point, comparable to 12# paper) ones. They are used, stained, and some are a little bent, but all are usable and in good condition. I am pricing them a little high so one person will think twice about just buying them all up, leaving them available for more people. TELL ME WHICH SHIMS YOU WANT. If you do not specify. I will send you matched pairs of thick and thin until I run out. Remember, I have 5 thick and 7 thin ones. If you are correcting impression from a bad jam. You will probably only need one thick and two thin shims at the maximum, and possibly just one or two thin ones. If you have had a catastrophic jam on one side of the press, you may need 2- 4 thick AND 2- 4 thin ones to readjust it. To check your impression, the easiest way is to remove packing from under your best die cutting jacket so the sheet is barely, or not at all, perforating using brand new perforating rule. Compare the cuts or impression on each side, and if one side has lower impression than the other one, or one side cuts and the other one doesn't quite cut, you need to balance the impression. The heavy black arrow is slightly below type high on all three, as it was heavily made ready to maintain the solid, and has pressed down into the wood over the years of use. However, you can see that they are all in good condition, being sharp and clean, but will need considerable make ready to print as well as this proof. These were used by a market research firm. The idea was that information was collected(the open arrows) and collated and interpreted for the client(the solid black arrow) The large one is the configuration used by the company, but you can turn them to whatever direction you want, hence the two small ones pointing in different directions. These are 3 letterpress printing cuts(plates. Dies) mounted about type high on hardwood used in my grandfather's print shop years ago. They are line cuts, no halftones, and so are suitable for printing on all types of paper, from high gloss to chipboard. They are used and have no significant damage. Vintage Chandler and Price platen printing press, antique, typeset
For sale is a C& P platen press. The serial number in photo two says"1986" from what I have found, that indicates that this press was manufactured in 1890, but I have never used this press other than spinning it over by hand and via the electric motor retrofitted onto it. The press(and the four Hamilton typeset cabinets full of typeset and shapes/designs) are in my basement. Unfortunately our basement does not have good access to get the press out. It will have to be disassembled to get it up the stairs and out. It appears from research that this printer weighs 2550 pounds. Miehle V-50 Vertical Brass Impression Printing Cylinder Balancing Shims Press
You may have noticed my other Miehle V-50 Vertical press parts sales. I have a Heidelberg KSBA. And it works a LOT better than the vertical. I even have some tricks to let me get closer to the gripper with a numbering machine, perf, and score, so I am disassembling the V-50 and selling it part by part. Let me know if you have any specific part you want me to list, and I'll endeavor to list it ASAP. These are Brass Balancing Shims to balance the cylinder. Usually. You will never need these, but if you have a bad jam, the cylinder impression may become uneven. You can fix this fairly easily by loosening the two large mounting bolts on the side you wish to adjust and sliding the shims down and re-tightening the bolts. That is why the shims are in a"C" shape: they slide down each side of the mounting bolt. There are 5 thick(about ... more1 point) and 7 thin(about 1/2 point, comparable to 12# paper) ones. They are used, stained, and some are a little bent, but all are usable and in good condition. I am pricing them a little high so one person will think twice about just buying them all up, leaving them available for more people. TELL ME WHICH SHIMS YOU WANT. If you do not specify. I will send you matched pairs of thick and thin until I run out. Remember, I have 5 thick and 7 thin ones. If you are correcting impression from a bad jam. You will probably only need one thick and two thin shims at the maximum, and possibly just one or two thin ones. If you have had a catastrophic jam on one side of the press, you may need 2- 4 thick AND 2- 4 thin ones to readjust it. To check your impression, the easiest way is to remove packing from under your best die cutting jacket so the sheet is barely, or not at all, perforating using brand new perforating rule. Compare the cuts or impression on each side, and if one side has lower impression than the other one, or one side cuts and the other one doesn't quite cut, you need to balance the impression. VTG/Antique PRINTING PRESS 4x6 Table Top SIGWALT Victorian Decals 19th C +EXTRAS
Up for bid is the vintage/antique PRINTING PRESS with TONS OF EXTRAS/ BONUS PRINTING ITEMS/SUPPLIES. As seen in the pictures/ as described in the title. This is my first press find. I know little about it. Other than the missing roller(s) it looks to be complete and fully functional. No blarringly obvious defects whatsoever. From my research. I believe this to be an early Sigwalt Model from circa the late 19th century that is in exceptionally good condition in comparison to others its age. Features many original, multi-colored Victorian style lithograph decals at both sides and small accents throughout(at other sides and crevases, see pics) Some are faded and partial, most near complete and quite bright& vivid. Amazingly, the vast majority of the original black paint/ japanning remains. Another very cool feature is the last, very old ... morepiece of paper found in the frame. It is a"FASHION SHOW" advertisement/announcement that was to take place at Wallace School on Willow Ave on May 28, 1982. Also included are all of the extras found with the press. I do not"speak presses" so I will let the pictures be the extras' official description(see 1st& last pictures) I did not open any of the cans/tubes of ink/gloss though it is clear that they are nearly full. Actual contents/usability unknown. At the very least, they are neat display items and surely have collectability/value in their advertising qualities alone. The(10) quoins are of(3) different types/sizes/makers(see last pic) and have superb patina. The lead spacers are brand new. When found, they were in a box, half out of the package(seen in 1st& last pics) I just removed the rest to show how many are included(a few hundred, I would guess) I picked from a Northern N.J. farm estate that was first developed in the late 18th century. Original owner had passed and the lady who sold me this press did not even know what it was. So sadly. I was unable to learn any fun or interesting history of this piece. Sigwalt #11 Letterpress printing press - restored & 100% print ready
This press has been completely disassembled. All painted parts were stripped down to the metal and re-finished with 2 coats of primer then 2 coats of color and a clear coat. All non-painted parts(pivoting rods. Ink arms, etc. were cleaned thoroughly. The fasteners in platen back and chase have been replaced with new stainless steel hex drive screws. The platen has been balanced to the chase bed with.040" packing under the tympan and is included with the press. The additional sheets of press packing included will allow you to change the packing under the tympan to adjust the print impression height as you change stock caliper. This is much easier than re-balancing the platen each time you change stock caliper. The press is currently packed to print on.012" stock. For example. If you wanted to print on.007" stock, you would add ... morea sheet of.005" packing under the tympan. As with any press, the condition of your type and blocks and the uniformity of the type height will ultimately determine the quality of the printed image. The type used to print the proof card was not new. Rollers& trucks are new. Rollers have only been used on this press(to verify press balance and roller& truck quality) to print the card in the photo gallery for this item. The press has been secured with stainless steel fasteners to a base made of oak which is stained& coated with a satin polyurethane. Rubber feet are fastened to each corner of the underside of the base so the press& base will not'walk' when printing. Base is long enough so that the back of the press will not lift off when you push the press on impression. Line-O-Scribe Sign Machine made by Morgan Co. Chicago, IL. circa 1940s. Used in a large, Upstate New York family-run department store that did their own print ads and signs, in house. This unit is in four pieces: the printing mechanism itself, the work bench with 28 drawers, a rolling typeface rack and a light hood. This sign press comes with a compliment of over 3,000 pieces of individual lead typeface(12 full drawers of type similar to Futura, Arial, Helvetica, Script and Felt Pen) plus several 14" rollers in good condition and an excellent 13.75" x 13.75" ink plate. There are many, pre-made blocks of type with often-used words like, NOW" Special" and"Today" plus many more. Ebay-1(2) Golding Official Model 6 Printing Press( pre 1923) This complete inking press has an inside chase dimension of 8-1/4 x 12-1/2” It has its 2 tympan clamps present and movable. Right and left hand gripper fingers present and functioning as well as upper and lower roller hooks with springs. Working. The ink disc rotates slightly on each impression. The roller wheels are present and free on the shafts supplied. The rollers supplied are not inking rollers but foil pulling rollers as the original rollers were completely dried out and crumbling, and I thought it would be better to supply something that may work rather than have them missing. Included will be one shaft that is original from the ink rollers that were trashed, for copying if need be. The roller wheels are correct and turn freely, they are 1-3/8” diameter and according to ... morea copy of a direction sheet that will be supplied the ink rollers themselves should be no more the 1/16” smaller than the roller wheels, the rollers I have supplied are 1/8” smaller but as I said. This press would make a great addition to your collection or to start your own inking projects. Original selling price of the Golding#6 was $60.Rough size of press 16” x 20” x 42” high, includes handle, weight 275#This press was stored in the basement of the former Thomson National building in Franklin Ma. In 1906 Golding had outgrown its buildings in Fort-Hill Square area of Boston and moved into the former Snow. Bassett Straw Goods Company of Franklin, Thomson took over the Golding building in 1923 and started manufacturing the Colts Armory presses, and later Thomson National Press machines. The smaller, unidentified press is NOT part of this sale or listing. It is only there for a size reference. It is approx. the same vintage as the larger Ostrander Seymour press, so it is a fair comparison. Both of these presses were made in the 20th century. This press was one of the last of it's kind. Built by any manufacturer. When they Cast into the top of the Press. HEAVY DUTY" they meant it! It has Unbelievably Massive Webbing on Both the Platen and the Bed. By doing some Research. I have found that this press was manufactured some where in the area of 1920 to 1923. or thereabouts. The#2 model weighs in at 2,200 Lbs. and is 78" Tall. When this press ... morewas built it was at the pinnacle of this style of design. This press has the Very Rare. Optional Auxiliary Yoke, to stabilize the Vertical Movement when put on Impression. This will Ensure that Slurs and Unwanted Sideways Movement is either Eliminated or kept to an absolute Minimum. This is a Wesel Mfg. Co. N.Y. Washington Style, Hand Printer's Proof Press. This press would be a beautiful addition to a small studio print shop. The Wesel Co. was in business from 1900- 1923. The platen size is 13 3/4 x 18. By doing some Research. I have found that this press was manufactured some where in the area of 1905 or thereabouts. It weighs in at approx. 900 Lbs. And is 63" Tall. The factory scribed two lines that find the dead center of the bed. For layout purposes. I have checked the bed and it has a slight low spot in the center area of.001 to.002. Which if OK, and normal. This press has an old paint job using a very good quality of primer and paint that could have been done 30 year's ago or so. All I did is wipe it down with a 50/50 mix of mineral spirits and new engine oil. I have not disassembled and/ or reassembled ... morethis press. Other than the figure 4 toggle mechanism and the platen adjustment. I did however paint on the gold leaf lettering and the large nuts on the top of the press. I have left the beautiful patina on the figure 4 toggle mechanism and also on the inner brass ring on the large wood handle. The outer rounded nut on the end of the handle was cleaned and then clear coated by some previous owner. I have also left the layers of ink that has built up over the years on the wood handle. I feel if the buyer want's to emery cloth. Sand and polish these in the future that is their option. T here is no Tympan or Frisket with this press. In my Opinion This is a Samuel Rust. N.Y. Printing Press. This would be the 1st True Washington Press. Made by it's Inventor, Samuel Rust, Approximately 180 Years Ago. THIS PRESS IS AN EXTREMELY IMPORTANT PIECE OF AMERICAN HISTORY. The Platen Size is 23" x 36 1/4" This Press Was Built for Newspaper Printing. Cast into the Top of the Press is a Stylized Eagle. It's Very Hard to Make Out in my Pictures. Below the Eagle is a Wreath with What Look Like Berries. Surrounding Where the Brass Name Plate Once Was. On Each side are Floral Medallions. Also Note the Cross Hatched Diamond Pattern all Around the Press. All of these Characteristics are typical of a Rust press. Unfortunately the Brass Nameplate has been Pried Out& Removed. Many Years Ago. P erhaps for Brass Shortages During the War Time Years. Which in this Case Could ... moreHave Included The Civil War! The press is in a fantastic, unrestored, working condition, but it does need new rollers. I am including a box of antique type and leading in this auction to get you started. Rare Kelsey OK Jobber. Built between 1886 and 1898. 9" x 13" Comes with 1 chases. Weight Approx 600 lbs. Is in working condition. Rollers are usable but not great. The press works but it is not the smoothest running press. Missing a bolt and washer to hold one of the side arms. The rod that holds the treadle is a replacement. The bolts holding the feed table to the sides are replacements. Sigwalt Chicago #9 table top letterpress printing press antique platen Kelsey
Hi. Selling a little table top letterpress printing press. No markings, its either a sigwalt or Chicago#9. Chase inside dimensions are 3-13/16 x 2-1/2. Is made to use with 2 rollers, but this does not have rollers with it. About a year ago I stripped it down, sandblasted it, and painted it black. Looks nice! I replaced the lever nut/ bolt with new stainless hardware. I made the chase out of 1/4" stainless. not original, but works great. I also drilled and tapped for(2) 1/4-20 bolts in the bottom of the chase which eliminates the need for quoins when using a block. platen is nice and even. Adjustment screws work properly. Needs gripper spring. ink disk works and spins as it should. Nice little press. I use it regularly, I just want something bigger. Use as is and ink with a brayer as I do, or buy rollers/trucks. Kelsey & Co. "Excelsior" printing press complete with Type drawers
This Kelsey& Co. Excelsior" model 5X8 press belonged to a Virginia family for several generations. It appears to be complete and functional. And operates easily. When received it still had the last print job set in it. The wood spacers had shrunk and the type fell out when it was moved however. All the springs. Rollers, etc appear in good shape. The press is all original and not restored in any way. The gold leaf is still present on the letters of Excelsior on the side. The press includes 2 wooden printer's drawers with type and the wood& brass spacers required to set it. This is a heavy cast iron machine(approx. 45 Lbs. Letterpress printing press Craftsman Pilot C&P table top CHASE 6 1/2 x 10" type
Chase for a large table top printing press. I had several of these laying around. If I recall correctly I got them with a Craftsman brand table top press with a 6 1/2 x 10" printing area. They may also fit a C&P Pilot which is designed and made very similar to the Crafstman. I'll give you the chase dimensions so you can measure your particular press to see if it will fit. My chase does NOT have the little wedge protrusions on the side that are used to fit and mount some chases. My chase would nest into two feet at the lower section of the press and be secured with a movable spring loaded clamp at the top. Antique Multilith Model 1200 Printing Press
Up for sale is an antique Multilith Model 1200. We were using this press until about ten years ago when we put it in storage. This one is rather unusual in that it is equipped with a jogger. It is all there including the Davidson feeder. Included in the price is an original Parts Catalog and a Davidson feeder Parts Catalog. The 1200 was one of the first small offset presses sold. I also have a unique booklet published by Addressograph on the Multilith showing how to make a plate and how to photograph copy. Early GOLDING OFFICIAL Tabletop Letterpress Looks to be a Model 2. Great for YOUR Collection. Great way to get into Tabletop Printing. Up for offer is a Original Golding Official Letterpress. Looks to be a Model 2 although I cannot verify that. Marked GOLDING MFG. CO. as well as FRANKLIN. MASS. USA on one side and OFFICIAL on other side. Press is missing the ink disk and the chase as can be seen in photos. Also missing the small finger that rotates the ink disk. No ink rollers. Ink rollers should be readily available on ebay. This could easily be operated without the ink disk as the form could be inked with a hand brayer until a disk can be obtained. Has normal wear from use and storage including scratches. Scuffs, marring and some light spots of surface corrosion is several spots. I have cleaned it and oiled it to the best of my ability ... moreand it LOOKS GREAT. No breaks or repairs. Looks to have what might be original paint. The press opens and closes very nicely and operates very smoothly. Paper platen is offset slightly to the left of the chase area(pic 4) I believe this is as it was set up from the factory. Has gripper arms as shown. J hooks are nice and move freely in guides. J hook springs look to be original and function well. Paper platen measures approx. 4 1/2" x 6 7/8" Weight is approx. 41 pounds. Measures approx. 25" tall from bottom of base to top of arm when arm is upright. Hole for ink disk shaft looks to be 5/8" diameter.Auction includes only what is shown in photos. Previous owner did a ton of restoration on it. Comes with 2 chases. I believe the treadle is from a C&P due to the patterns on it. The treadle was removed in some of the pictures but I assure you it exists. Actually. Here is a video I took of it: The inside chase actually measures just under about 13”x9” but I would treat it as a 12”x8” Comes with new. Never used rollers. They are still wrapped with paper except for the little edge I tore in order to take a picture. It’s currently on the skids pictured. Located in a residential garage in Seattle. Challenge Platen Printing Press Letterpress
Challenge platen press I bought it a few years ago and while attempting to move it ourselves. It fell off the truck and was damaged. The bar that holds the flywheel on is broken. As well as the arm that holds the wooden shelf on the front, and the lever on the side. In addition to the damage from falling off the truck, one of the holders for the rollers is broken, and the roller that is on there needs to be replaced as well. I havent had the time or money to look into repairing it. And it has just been sitting in the garage under plastic. Local pick up only. It is extremely heavy and you will need at least a few people and a truck to pick it up. But an engine hoist would be best if you have it.

In fact. They were nearly identical copies.
