Oil, and dried ink on the associated assemblies, but I cleaned them enough for you to see what good condition they are in. I lubricate my equipment very well because I am penurious. You will never need these, but if you have a bad jam, the cylinder impression may become uneven. You can fix this fairly easily by loosening the two large mounting bolts on the side you wish to adjust and sliding the shims down and re-tightening the bolts. That is why the shims are in a"C" shape: they slide down each side of the mounting bolt. There are 5 thick(about 1 point) and 7 thin(about 1/2 point, comparable to 12# paper) ones. They are used, stained, and some are a little bent, but all are usable and in good condition. I am pricing them a little high so one person will think twice about just buying them all up, leaving them available for more people. TELL ME WHICH SHIMS YOU WANT. If you do not specify. I will send you matched pairs of thick and thin until I run out. Remember, I have 5 thick and 7 thin ones. If you are correcting impression from a bad jam. You will probably only need one thick and two thin shims at the maximum, and possibly just one or two thin ones. If you have had a catastrophic jam on one side of the press, you may need 2- 4 thick AND 2- 4 thin ones to readjust it. To check your impression, the easiest way is to remove packing from under your best die cutting jacket so the sheet is barely, or not at all, perforating using brand new perforating rule. Compare the cuts or impression on each side, and if one side has lower impression than the other one, or one side cuts and the other one doesn't quite cut, you need to balance the impression. As one of them was misnumbered by the factory, and one doesn't appear to be in the parts book. These parts all came off of the impression cylinder when I removed it. These parts are from the left side of the cylinder. The part#22051(not listed in book) can be seen on page 10 of the parts book, but no attribution is there. I would call it a left cylinder mounting bracket as it is the one that the two large mounting bolts go through to hold the left side of the cylinder in place. The part misnumbered by hand at the factory as#23853" as shown in the photo) is listed in the parts book as#23859, Ratchet Pawl Lock Collar. The three springs are#22265, Thrust Collar Springs. The other collar I can't easily find in the parts book, but it goes with these other parts. When the cylinder is removed, these parts just slide off the side. All parts here are in good to very good condition. The press was completely refurbished around 1980 and was used pretty much continuously for the next 15 years. When I got the KSBA. This is the long steel shaft that most of the parts in the first VA parts page are mounted on, and the long control rod assembly that goes inside the bushing. This is the Cylinder Gear(part#22152) Right Cylinder Mounting Bracket(my name for it, as it doesn't seem to be in the parts book) part#20152) and the Cylinder Stop Disc Assembly(part#23154A and most associated parts) The Gear has one chip on one tooth which can be seen in photo#3 as a bright flash. The stop disc had to be heated and hammered on the side to get it off. You will probably have to sweat it on. That is why there are hammer marks on the side of the disc, but it is only cosmetic and does not affect the operation. I will try to find the huge taper pin and two mounting bolts that go with these parts and include them later. All parts here are in good to very good condition. Line-O-Scribe Sign Machine made by Morgan Co. Chicago, IL. circa 1940s. Used in a large, Upstate New York family-run department store that did their own print ads and signs, in house. This unit is in four pieces: the printing mechanism itself, the work bench with 28 drawers, a rolling typeface rack and a light hood. This sign press comes with a compliment of over 3,000 pieces of individual lead typeface(12 full drawers of type similar to Futura, Arial, Helvetica, Script and Felt Pen) plus several 14" rollers in good condition and an excellent 13.75" x 13.75" ink plate. There are many, pre-made blocks of type with often-used words like, NOW" Special" and"Today" plus many more. One utility drawer has unopened tubes of Line-O-Scribe inks and thinner and another has all sizes of furniture for padding spaces ... morebetween type. There are also several inking rollers, a pump tin and ink dispensing can. The only electrical part of this unit is for the 48" light fixture in the hood and needs rewiring. The Morgan Co. Chicago, Ill. Line-O-Scribe Sign Machine Model No. M 711 Serial No. M 7619 Made In U.S.A. Line-O-Scribe Sign Machine in Excellent working condition from the others I have seen online going from $255 to over $1000. Comes with all letter inserts and weights around 50 lbs with them in the tray underneath. Rolls perfectly fine and almost no rust on this product. I do not know too much about this antique but from what I have researched they are worth quite a bit of money and this one appears in amazing condition. Have not tried to clean because I want to leave that up to the buyers discretion.
