An Illinois banker, while negotiating to buy an interest in the Cleveland Type Foundry, met William H. Price, son of a builder of printing presses. They founded the Chandler& Price Co. of Cleveland to build printing equipment. In 1884 the partners introduced their famous jobber in two sizes-7xll and 10xl5 and by year's end over 300 presses had been built. Subsequently the press was built in 8xl2. 14x20, 14.5x22 sizes. Vintage Chandler and Price platen printing press, antique, typeset
For sale is a C& P platen press. The serial number in photo two says"1986" from what I have found, that indicates that this press was manufactured in 1890, but I have never used this press other than spinning it over by hand and via the electric motor retrofitted onto it. The press(and the four Hamilton typeset cabinets full of typeset and shapes/designs) are in my basement. Unfortunately our basement does not have good access to get the press out. It will have to be disassembled to get it up the stairs and out. It appears from research that this printer weighs 2550 pounds. This is an original Chandler& Price Pilot Press upper feed board bracket& feed board. This is the complete bracket with upper and lower parts and an original wooden upper feed table. It mounts directly to the underside of the lower feed board. If you don't have enough room for feeding on your C&P Pilot you might enjoy having a bit more surface area. The bracket assembly is in excellent original condition. But the board is a bit rough. You can either use it as-is or use it as a pattern to make a new one to match the wood on your press. For Sale is a chandler and price 14x22 die cutting press. Hand fed. We used it for several years before taking it out of operation(replaced with a newer press) Wooden"feed boards" have been refinished. New die cut plate(from Bar-Plate) was installed and has been lightly used. Currently set up for.918, but by backing bolts out, 937 die could be used. The motor is 3 phase, controlled by a Teco electronic controller. This controller lets you set the speed of the press very efficiently. The press was working when removed from service. No warranties or guarantees are implied however. We will bolt to pallets for shipping(will likely ship on two pallets(one for press, one for motor) Our facility has both a standard shipping dock, and a street level access with a fork lift for loading. Pair Of Vintage Chandler & Price Letterpress Frames 15.5" X 20.5", Handles, Rare
This is a fantastic pair of vintage cast iron letterpress forms made by Chandler& Price. One has a pair of handles attached to the top and is more rare then the other one which is just a frame. They are about 15.5" tall and 20.5" wide. The inside dimensions are exactly 12" x 18" They have a great patina and look to them. They could be used as a repurposed picture frame or could be the missing pieces to a restoration project. They each weigh about 15lbs and have been left as found. This listing is for a 10 x 15 Chandler& Price Letterpress(C&P) with a manufacture date of 1911. It is a great press( piece of history) but we can’t keep it as we just don’t have the space. More pictures can be seen here… This press comes complete with 2 Chases and brand new Rollers& Trucks that were used once just to pull a test print. It has a working Kimble motor that can be wired for either 110v or 220v. The press currently sits on a pallet ready for loading at ground level. We can secure a forklift but buyer responsible for cost. Using our Come-Along& Pallet Jack would be an alternate option for those with a tilting trailer.

We are selling our Chandler& Price Pilot Press. This press is unrestored. But is in full working order with all original parts(with the exception of 1 spring and the feed board) We have owned the press for 8 years and printed some projects on it, but our volume and sizes requirements forced us to work commercial letterpress printers instead. Since then it has safely sat unused in our studio. When we bought the press from a shop that had closed. We had it refurbished to perfect working condition by a Pilot expert in his shop. Other than some dust, its condition is unchanged from then. There are no cracks and no missing parts-with the exception of rollers. These were misplaced in a move, but new ones can be bought from NA graphics for about $100 each. All adjustable parts move as they should(impression screws nuts, tympan bales, and grippers) ... moreIt could use some cleaning and some oiling, but otherwise it doesn't need any further restoration to print capably for a long time. We're also including all the extra parts and tools pictured below. Other than rollers and whatever plates you'll be printing with. This is everything you'll need to get up and running: 3 6.5 x 10 Pilot Chases. A composing stick. 8 nearly full tubes of 1/2 pound ink(most unused) from NA graphics. Leads and slugs. Assorted furniture and reglests. 2 Challenge Hi-Speed Quoins(6" and 9" with Barplate Quoin key. 5.5 Kelsey Quoins and Quoin key. Some loose type and spaces. Most type is from small jobs that remained setup when we inherited the press. 10 gauge pins. Steel wool and 1 gallon Color Wash. 4 shop trays and a few other extras. We spent a lot of time and $100s tracking down these items. And getting them all with the press will spare you a lot of hassle. We've loved this press. I have a PAIR of Chandler and Price Letterpresses OVER 100 years old EACH! MOST LIKELY NOT GOING TO LIST THESE FOR MUCH LONGER SO MAKE AN OFFER SOON! These were both working presses just about 3 years ago and we saved them from being sold for scrap. We just couldn't see these being lost forever so we bought them to hopefull find them a home to appreciate them! I have offered NUMEROUS PICTURES so someone could get a sense of what all is offered. Chandler & Price 14 1/2 x 22 letterpress printing press
Your looking at a Chandler& Price 14 1/2 x 22. From the what I've gathered it was manufactured in 1931. This press is big and runs smoothly. I purchased this last year and refurbished it myself. Which means I took it all apart. Cleaned 80 years of ink and grease off of it, welded any cracks, painted it and put it back together. You won't find a cleaner/ shinier press. The only cracks on the press were on the roller arms. I had them professionally welded and should last a long time. The press comes with 4 rollers that need to be recovered. I did an embossing job on the press and that is it. The only thing the press is missing is the bottom gear that turns the inner inking disk. The motor is 220V, 1 hp@ 1165 rpm which turns the machine too fast for my liking. You must spin the machine by hand in order to get it going. I've been ... moresearching for a variable speed motor but if it sells before I find one then so be it. The press comes with 2 chases, a platen wrench, and tools to assist pulling the rollers. 4 Letterpress Printing CHASES Chandler& Price C&P Type-Frames 8"x12" 9x13 Up for auction are four letterpress printing chases for type. They are all made of cast-iron. Two of the frames bear the name"Chandler& Price" Along with the number 828 1/2, hash marks on the borders. The third frame bears the same number but does not have the manufacturers name. Instead it bears a Roman numeral, otherwise it is nearly identical. All three have rounded interior corners for lifting the type. All three are 3/4" deep, and have an interior dimesion of 8"x12" exterior dimension is 10 1/4"x 13 3/4" The fourth frame is slightly different, without any markings and an interior size of 9"x13" Condition is Very Good/ VG: apart from some mild surface rust the only damage to speak of is a cracked ... moreupper-right corner to one of the C&P frames. It's a hairline crack but goes clear through& should be mended. The other frames are sound& there are no other serious defects.
