Antique Printing Press- Multi Model 1227: Ser# 303940- Built in 1940- This is one of the earliest electric powered presses-It still runs and feeds paper. All the cylinders and rollers turn. The compressor works and will feed paper-I am sure it would print with very little work-Some of the belts are broke but we have replaced them with"make do" rope. Vintage Chandler and Price platen printing press, antique, typeset
For sale is a C& P platen press. The serial number in photo two says"1986" from what I have found, that indicates that this press was manufactured in 1890, but I have never used this press other than spinning it over by hand and via the electric motor retrofitted onto it. The press(and the four Hamilton typeset cabinets full of typeset and shapes/designs) are in my basement. Unfortunately our basement does not have good access to get the press out. It will have to be disassembled to get it up the stairs and out. It appears from research that this printer weighs 2550 pounds. This press came with the house that we purchased and we need the space for storage, so it has to go. I am hoping that there is someone who has a passion for this and can use it. VTG/Antique PRINTING PRESS 4x6 Table Top SIGWALT Victorian Decals 19th C +EXTRAS
Up for bid is the vintage/antique PRINTING PRESS with TONS OF EXTRAS/ BONUS PRINTING ITEMS/SUPPLIES. As seen in the pictures/ as described in the title. This is my first press find. I know little about it. Other than the missing roller(s) it looks to be complete and fully functional. No blarringly obvious defects whatsoever. From my research. I believe this to be an early Sigwalt Model from circa the late 19th century that is in exceptionally good condition in comparison to others its age. Features many original, multi-colored Victorian style lithograph decals at both sides and small accents throughout(at other sides and crevases, see pics) Some are faded and partial, most near complete and quite bright& vivid. Amazingly, the vast majority of the original black paint/ japanning remains. Another very cool feature is the last, very old ... morepiece of paper found in the frame. It is a"FASHION SHOW" advertisement/announcement that was to take place at Wallace School on Willow Ave on May 28, 1982. Also included are all of the extras found with the press. I do not"speak presses" so I will let the pictures be the extras' official description(see 1st& last pictures) I did not open any of the cans/tubes of ink/gloss though it is clear that they are nearly full. Actual contents/usability unknown. At the very least, they are neat display items and surely have collectability/value in their advertising qualities alone. The(10) quoins are of(3) different types/sizes/makers(see last pic) and have superb patina. The lead spacers are brand new. When found, they were in a box, half out of the package(seen in 1st& last pics) I just removed the rest to show how many are included(a few hundred, I would guess) I picked from a Northern N.J. farm estate that was first developed in the late 18th century. Original owner had passed and the lady who sold me this press did not even know what it was. So sadly. I was unable to learn any fun or interesting history of this piece. Antique Letterpress Printer's Type Planer, Planing Blocks Leather Pads 6" + Mini
2 Antique Wooden Letterpress Printer's Type Planers. A/k/a Planing Blocks Both have leather pads on top. One measures 6" long by 2 1/8" wide by 1 1/2" high. Another is a"mini" and it measures almost 3" long by 1 5/8" wide by 1 1/2" high. Both are most likely made from hard Maple. A friend of mine is the owner of a Press Museum Print Shop and he explained to me what these blocks are. How they are used, and that both are very old"antiques" This is what he told me.the planers were/are used to used to level the type before printing. The block is laid on top of a type set form and tapped(on the leather pad) to make sure that the letters are pushed down and are all level before the form goes into the press The leather pads on top are to protect the wood from being split or otherwise worn as ... morethe block is tapped repeatedly on the top- for many years, in this case. You can see the black ink and scratches on the bottom. This is the result of being tapped gently(many, many times over many years) onto a form of type. What you have there are a standard size and a"mini" size. Both are quite usable as they are- although I would re-surface them on my belt sander before I actually used them. They are bona-fide antique. Could easily be 100 years old. The planers have age and use wear. Marks, dings, soiling to be expected of items estimated to be 100 or more years old. Leather hard, worn not soft. They are being sold"as is" as was found. Interesting items to use as explained above by my friend or to add to your letterpress printing collection to display. This is a Ostrander Seymour. Heavy Duty, 2 Washington Style, Hand Printer's Proof Press. The platen size is 20 1/4 x 26 1/2. The last picture. 12 out of 12 shows 2 presses. The smaller, unidentified press is NOT part of this sale or listing. It is only there for a size reference. It is approx. the same vintage as the larger Ostrander Seymour press, so it is a fair comparison. Both of these presses were made in the 20th century. This press was one of the last of it's kind. Built by any manufacturer. When they Cast into the top of the Press. HEAVY DUTY" they meant it! It has Unbelievably Massive Webbing on Both the Platen and the Bed. By doing some Research. I have found that this press was manufactured some where in the area of 1920 to 1923. or thereabouts. The#2 model weighs in at 2,200 Lbs. and is 78" Tall. When this press ... morewas built it was at the pinnacle of this style of design. This press has the Very Rare. Optional Auxiliary Yoke, to stabilize the Vertical Movement when put on Impression. This will Ensure that Slurs and Unwanted Sideways Movement is either Eliminated or kept to an absolute Minimum. This is a Wesel Mfg. Co. N.Y. Washington Style, Hand Printer's Proof Press. This press would be a beautiful addition to a small studio print shop. The Wesel Co. was in business from 1900- 1923. The platen size is 13 3/4 x 18. By doing some Research. I have found that this press was manufactured some where in the area of 1905 or thereabouts. It weighs in at approx. 900 Lbs. And is 63" Tall. The factory scribed two lines that find the dead center of the bed. For layout purposes. I have checked the bed and it has a slight low spot in the center area of.001 to.002. Which if OK, and normal. This press has an old paint job using a very good quality of primer and paint that could have been done 30 year's ago or so. All I did is wipe it down with a 50/50 mix of mineral spirits and new engine oil. I have not disassembled and/ or reassembled ... morethis press. Other than the figure 4 toggle mechanism and the platen adjustment. I did however paint on the gold leaf lettering and the large nuts on the top of the press. I have left the beautiful patina on the figure 4 toggle mechanism and also on the inner brass ring on the large wood handle. The outer rounded nut on the end of the handle was cleaned and then clear coated by some previous owner. I have also left the layers of ink that has built up over the years on the wood handle. I feel if the buyer want's to emery cloth. Sand and polish these in the future that is their option. T here is no Tympan or Frisket with this press. If this is a problem for you call me Before Bidding. I have made them before with good results. But we will need to talk about the details first. This is local pick-up only item. No shipping. In my Opinion This is a Samuel Rust. N.Y. Printing Press. This would be the 1st True Washington Press. Made by it's Inventor, Samuel Rust, Approximately 180 Years Ago. THIS PRESS IS AN EXTREMELY IMPORTANT PIECE OF AMERICAN HISTORY. The Platen Size is 23" x 36 1/4" This Press Was Built for Newspaper Printing. Cast into the Top of the Press is a Stylized Eagle. It's Very Hard to Make Out in my Pictures. Below the Eagle is a Wreath with What Look Like Berries. Surrounding Where the Brass Name Plate Once Was. On Each side are Floral Medallions. Also Note the Cross Hatched Diamond Pattern all Around the Press. All of these Characteristics are typical of a Rust press. Unfortunately the Brass Nameplate has been Pried Out& Removed. The press is in a fantastic, unrestored, working condition, but it does need new rollers. I am including a box of antique type and leading in this auction to get you started. Length 15" height 9-1/2, width 6-1/2; chase 3-3/4x2-1/2. Please note that even though it's a small press, it is quite heavy and weighs 22 lbs as it's made of cast iron. Sigwalt Chicago #9 table top letterpress printing press antique platen Kelsey
Hi. Selling a little table top letterpress printing press. No markings, its either a sigwalt or Chicago#9. Chase inside dimensions are 3-13/16 x 2-1/2. Is made to use with 2 rollers, but this does not have rollers with it. About a year ago I stripped it down, sandblasted it, and painted it black. Looks nice! I replaced the lever nut/ bolt with new stainless hardware. I made the chase out of 1/4" stainless. not original, but works great. I also drilled and tapped for(2) 1/4-20 bolts in the bottom of the chase which eliminates the need for quoins when using a block. platen is nice and even. Adjustment screws work properly. Needs gripper spring. ink disk works and spins as it should. Nice little press. I use it regularly, I just want something bigger. Use as is and ink with a brayer as I do, or buy rollers/trucks. Antique Multilith Model 1200 Printing Press
Up for sale is an antique Multilith Model 1200. We were using this press until about ten years ago when we put it in storage. This one is rather unusual in that it is equipped with a jogger. It is all there including the Davidson feeder. Included in the price is an original Parts Catalog and a Davidson feeder Parts Catalog. The 1200 was one of the first small offset presses sold. I also have a unique booklet published by Addressograph on the Multilith showing how to make a plate and how to photograph copy. It is located at ground level and can be easily loaded as it is in two parts. It was all working when stored located in Durham. NC, phone 919-471-9492.

Early GOLDING OFFICIAL Tabletop Letterpress Looks to be a Model 2. Great for YOUR Collection. Great way to get into Tabletop Printing. Up for offer is a Original Golding Official Letterpress. Looks to be a Model 2 although I cannot verify that. Marked GOLDING MFG. CO. as well as FRANKLIN. MASS. USA on one side and OFFICIAL on other side. Press is missing the ink disk and the chase as can be seen in photos. Also missing the small finger that rotates the ink disk. No ink rollers. Ink rollers should be readily available on ebay. This could easily be operated without the ink disk as the form could be inked with a hand brayer until a disk can be obtained. Has normal wear from use and storage including scratches. Scuffs, marring and some light spots of surface corrosion is several spots. I have cleaned it and oiled it to the best of my ability ... moreand it LOOKS GREAT. No breaks or repairs. Looks to have what might be original paint. The press opens and closes very nicely and operates very smoothly. Paper platen is offset slightly to the left of the chase area(pic 4) I believe this is as it was set up from the factory. Has gripper arms as shown. J hooks are nice and move freely in guides. J hook springs look to be original and function well. Paper platen measures approx. 4 1/2" x 6 7/8" Weight is approx. 41 pounds. Measures approx. 25" tall from bottom of base to top of arm when arm is upright. Hole for ink disk shaft looks to be 5/8" diameter.Auction includes only what is shown in photos. This press is for sale This press is in good condition set up as a display. It is a old around 1870, Looks like some of the paint was touched up at one time unfortunate but it is what it is, very ornate I have only seen a few like this. It is bolted to the box looks like box was set up by a old printer not Hamilton looks to be the right time period. Rollers look original, a little dry rotted[a lot dry rotted] as they should be. yes it smells old. I would not clean it. This press is retired not for printing. It will make a nice office display. Antique Kelsey & Company Model 3 X 5 Excelsior Printing Letter Press
First off. I don't know much of anything about printing presses, but I will describe as best as possible. The is an antique Excelsior Letter Press that prints a 3" by 5" card. It is marked on the handle as well as the base. Size is about 8&1/2" by 19, and it weighs about 32 pounds. The plate with the letters in it has a patent date on the bottom- hard to read, but I think it is 1893. Condition is as found and as shown. While I don't know if it's missing anything else, it is missing the flat round plate. The print rollers look quite dry and I would guess that they need to be replaced. Other than that, it looks good to me. Please look at all of my photos for best idea of quality and condition. That's all I can tell you about this. Including what I believe is the form, that holds the type that you are printing. The press only states Baltimore. No model# or year, or country of manufacture. Up for auction is a antique Baltimore toy Platen miniature letterpress. It does say"Baltimore" on it but I don't see a model# anywhere on the press. It was manufactured by Baumgarten and company. This press is more than 100 years old. It was probably last used in 1926 because that is the date on the paper that is still in the press. The press is missing its rollers and platen but these can be replaced. The color is black and the measurements are 12" long. 11" high and 7" in depth. It weights between 11 and 12 lbs. Offered in this auction is a Kelsey& co 6x10 model E Excelsior table top letterpress printing press. In great condition. No dents or cracks. Free from rust. many, many extras. 23 full trays of letters, sorted, not mixed. Rubber rollers are used with dried ink on them. Pivot points are free moving. Very hard to find these in this condition and with all the bells and whistles. The original cabinet cannot fit all the letter trays! All sorts of pieces, and extras in very old cigar boxes is how they were stored. It was stored in gentlemans attic for years. All sorts of printing manuals also included. The press weighs 85 lbs. RARE ANTIQUE ADAMS COTTAGE PRINTING PRESS
The Adams Cottage Press is in very good condition as shown by the photographs. Very few seem to be in existence today. Historians believe it was this type of press that was transported during the Civil War to use in the field for printing. It was lightweight and easy to use for its time. The date of the press is clearly noted on the photo- Patented March 19. 1861. The history of this exact press is not known. A press similar to this one is believed to have been used at Appomattox Courthouse during the surrender of Lee's Army to the Union to print parole forms for the Southern Troops. Size of the press is approximately 25" long, 14" wide, and 5" deep and weighs approximately 85 pounds with the wood base attached. Also shown is information about the press from the 1860's.

This is a great old cast iron Diagraph Bradley Stencil Cutting Machine from a local estate. In great original used condition as you can see in the pictures. Cuts letters about 3/4" tall. No cracks. Chips, breaks or damage and original stencils and decals are very good for its age. Made by the Bradley Stencil Machine Co. of St. Louis, MO. Seems to work good as you can see in the last picture, but would probably need a good cleaning and lubricating to actualiy use. This is a Baltimore No 7 card size hand inked letterpress. It has about 75% of the original black japanning and gold pin striping and embellishments. The inside of the chase is about 2-1/8 x 3-3/8 x 3/4 inches and is removable. The top inking table is 2-1/4 x 3-1/2 inches. The letterpress is 9-1/4 x 4-3/4 x 3-1/2 overall. The base is 9-1/4 x 7/8 and has a small hole for and aft for screw attachment to a desk top or larger wooden base. ANTIQUE CHANDLER & PRICE PRINTING PRESS WITH PATENTS
Vintage Chandler and Price printing press. It has been in storage for many years. It belongs to a family member and I am trying to sell it for him. From what I am told the piece is good shape for as old as it is. It moves freely with no binding. It has 4 patented dates on the side dating May 26.1886/ Apl 12,1887/ March12 1889& Jan,1890 which is rare.There is also a stamped date on the handle May 26 1886. The measurements are 28" in width, 42" in height and 44" in lenght. It would make a nice addition to any collection or antique for display. Antique Diagraph Bradley Jumbo Stencil Machine 1 3/4 Letters Cast Iron Steel USA
I have for sale a very old and heavy-duty Antique Diagraph-Bradley Jumbo Stencil machine made in St. Louis. MO. USA. This one stamps out 1 3/4" tall letters/numbers and appears to work properly. The only thing missing that I can tell is the wooden handle.
