The largest one was used for report covers, the ... moremiddle one for letterheads, and the smallest one for envelopes. The heavy black arrow is slightly below type high on all three, as it was heavily made ready to maintain the solid, and has pressed down into the wood over the years of use. However, you can see that they are all in good condition, being sharp and clean, but will need considerable make ready to print as well as this proof. These were used by a market research firm. The idea was that information was collected(the open arrows) and collated and interpreted for the client(the solid black arrow) The large one is the configuration used by the company, but you can turn them to whatever direction you want, hence the two small ones pointing in different directions. These are 3 letterpress printing cuts(plates. Dies) mounted about type high on hardwood used in my grandfather's print shop years ago. They are line cuts, no halftones, and so are suitable for printing on all types of paper, from high gloss to chipboard. They are used and have no significant damage. The image shown is a proof print made with the cuts. If you don't want these for printing. They would make interesting mounted artworks, paper weights, or craft items. I usually ship USPS. Challenge 15GP Letterpress Proof Press
Selling a Challenge 15GP Proof Press. Press is in great condition and ready to print. It's been a great press for our letterpress shop but I am needing to get rid of some equipment to make room for other presses. Press can handle 15x24" sheets of paper and can handle 14.5x23.5" forms and comes with basically new rubber rollers. They have been lightly used. Press plugs into a standard 110v wall outlet. This press was the higher end of Challenge proof press and comes with some neat automatic features. This press also has the original adjustable form clamp to adjust for longer or shorter forms. What's great about this proof press is the bed moves back and forth as the cylinder rotates so the press operator stays stationary the entire time. Unlike Vandercooks. I bought this press in 1974 and it has had very little use in all the years I have owned it. It was used to print facsimile pages for rare books that were missing crucial pages. It is in good condition and good for another 100 years of continuous use. It looks like it still has the original paint and it glides like a dream. The No1. Vandercook Proof Press is in my opinion the best of all proofing presses because of its brand. Girth, simplicity and size. Most Vandercook presses are big and very heavy; this press is practical for a small print room or garage yet has the stuff that great presses are made of. In other words it is manageable. Yet has the ... moreweight, print area and girth to deliver a powerful print with relative ease. I think it weighs around 400lb, can be moved by two strong people. If you have ever dreamed of owning a printing press get the best because it simplifies the entire print process and will always deliver the finest results.
