Vintage Ideal #2 Stencil Cutting Machine, Hand Operated, 5/8" Letters
This is a vintage Ideal#2 stencil cutting machine that cuts 5/8" letters and numbers. It is still operative- even though a portion of the circular handle on the top is broken off and missing. You turn the round handle to the letter or number you wish. Then press down the lever at the front. This cuts the letter or number into the cardboard. There is another lever to reset the machine. Due to the weight(almost 70 pounds) It can either be picked up or I can meet you within a 50 mile radius of Dover, Ohio or it can be shipped via UPS ground for $45.00. This is identical to the machines that have sold on here for hundreds of dollars- except that a portion of the round handle is missing.but it still operates. Ideal no. 2 Stencil Cutting Machine-cuts letters. Upper and lower case as well as numerals and several punctuation marks-upper case 5/8 in.40 characters in all I believe-Commercial and Military ID Stencil applications(learned that from a Sailor)works but one needs to figure out what you are cutting by trial and error-it's pretty easy with practice. This has moderate wear for the most part EXCEPT the gear on the top of the turntable is gone-it would have meshed with the gear from the dial. To indicate the letter or number wanted-otherwise this machine moves very smoothly, seems to advance the paper just fine and cuts stencils easily. Ideal Stencil Machine No. 1 Military Industrial 1" WW2 Works! Vintage Antique
Here I have an awesome. WW2 era(I believe) Ideal Stencil Machine Number 1. It makes 1" stencils out of oilboard/cardstock. The machine is complete and does make stencils. It punches strong and prints evenly. The gears that turn the wheel are very brittle. see last photo) They also slip sometimes while turning the wheel(I'm guessing they just need to be tightened) As brittle as they are I do not know how long they will last. But for now they work. And they look like easy gears to get replicated. Other than that. The machine is in incredible shape for how old it is! Could use a little cleaning and oiling, but overall a nice solid machine. I have taken the machine apart into 3 pieces. I will ship in 2 separate packages to avoid damage during shipping.
