Vintage Craftsman Victory Letterpress Manual Hand Operated Printing Press Rare!
For your consideration is this vintage. Hard to find, Craftsman Machinery CO, Boston Mass, letterpress, printing press. I know little about these. My research indicates that this is a Victory model. In very solid condition with little rust. One thing that I found interesting is the Craftsman name in the casting on the side is missing an"a" As shown in the photos, it is spelt Crftsman, not Craftsman. The flat metal plate( I think is called the platen) measures about 7 3/4" by 5 1/2" The rollers are missing. The metal bracket and wood tray that holds the paper is also missing. There are four bolts that have been replaced. One is a hinge bolt, One of the bolts that attaches the platen and the two bolts that attach the bracket that holds the round ink plate. These bolts are two long and are interfering with the lever that ... moreturns the round plate. These should be visible in the photos and a easy fix with the proper bolts. Not sure if there is anything else missing. Otherwise, mechanically, it appears to be in working condition. Very hefty piece of equipment weighing in at 54 pounds. Kelsey Excelsior 3x5 Model M Letterpress A51L fully restored & 100% print ready
This press was manufactured in December of 1951. This press has been completely dis-assembled and stripped down to the cast iron. All cast iron parts have been painted with 2 coats of primer. 2 coats of color and a clear coat. Mating surfaces have be masked as to allow proper contact when re-assembled. The raised type in the press castings have been detailed with gold paint. All pivot rods have been thoroughly cleaned and lubricated upon re-assembly. The press is mounted to an oak base that has been stained and coated with a satin polyurethane. The mounting screws are new and made of stainless steel. There are 4 rubber feet secured with new stainless screws to the underside of the base to keep the press from walking while printing. This press has new rollers and new locking trucks. I have added an extension onto the chase bed latch as to ... morekeep the gripper latch spring away from the press frame. The chase bed latch spring is new and made of stainless steel. The platen back balancing screws. Nuts and washers are new and made of stainless steel. The grippers, gripper bar and gripper bar spring are all new. The gripper bar& spring are stainless steel. I added two locking collars to the gripper bar to keep it from moving side to side while printing. The p ress has been balanced and test printed using the rollers that are included with the press to print the card in the photos. There is.070 packing under the tympan and additional sheets of packing are included with the press. This will allow you to adjust the packing to compensate for different stock calipers without having to re-balance the press. Mercury Model 5x8 Excelsior Kelsey & Company Platen Press
Used. In good mechanical condition. No breaks, no welds. Ink table spins freely. Both roller cores need new rubber. I found it in our warehouse yesterday and got the two owners to agree to sell it. I oiled it and took the rollers off, because the rubber was dried up, so I could try it out. It operated smoothly. This morning, I heard one of the owners of our shop say that he believed that it was one of the best ones that you were going to find, whatever that meant. It looks like it hasn't been used much to me. We can't find anything missing except the rubber on the roller cores. The cores and trucks are included. It weighs about 57 lbs. 4 Letterpress Printing CHASES Chandler& Price C&P Type-Frames 8"x12" 9x13 Up for auction are four letterpress printing chases for type. They are all made of cast-iron. Two of the frames bear the name"Chandler& Price" Along with the number 828 1/2, hash marks on the borders. The third frame bears the same number but does not have the manufacturers name. Instead it bears a Roman numeral, otherwise it is nearly identical. All three have rounded interior corners for lifting the type. All three are 3/4" deep, and have an interior dimesion of 8"x12" exterior dimension is 10 1/4"x 13 3/4" The fourth frame is slightly different, without any markings and an interior size of 9"x13" Condition is Very Good/ VG: apart from some mild surface rust the only damage to speak of is a cracked ... moreupper-right corner to one of the C&P frames. It's a hairline crack but goes clear through& should be mended. The other frames are sound& there are no other serious defects. You are bidding on a wonderful VINTAGE Sigwalt Chicago#11 letterpress. This is a Sigwalt Chicago tabletop letterpress and believe this is the#11 press as it holds two rollers. The press is black with gold accent paint and retains most of the decal decoration on one side. But only a portion on the other side. This press measures approximately 17' long with handle down, 14' with handle up, 6-1/2' wide and weighs about 12.4 lbs. It is in very good working condition with smooth action. The paint is in good condition with some paint loss and normal wear. I believe one of the bolts has been changed. It comes with the chase and rollers.
