United Hit and Miss Engine. 2 HP, Model A I purchased this in 1996. It worked fine, but I wanted to restore it. I have always restored old tractors. I took it apart, had it sand blasted, I primed and painted it and the parts. Never got around to putting it back together. Got busy doing other things and I am cleaning out the shop now where it has been stored and want the space. It has been in a dry environment and covered, but it has gotten dirty through all these years because I pretty much deserted my shop and let it go. Now I am ready to reclaim it! I cleaned on the engine a bit, but it will need a good cleaning. It wipes off real easy, I just didn't have the time before I had to leave for work. The parts have been stored in a box, so they look pretty clean. It is on Walnut Skids with a homemade Walnut Pulley. The Head has been bored ... moreand sleeved by professional motor builders. Has new rings. I have new United Stickers for it. As well as I remember, everything is all there. The pictures are as well as I could get back in the shop. I'll try to add some better ones tomorrow, if it isn't raining again. I did notice a scratched place on the paint on the back of the engine where something got shoved up against it where it was stored. I took a picture of it. I am leaving enough space in pictures for 2 more pictures to be added tomorrow. I'm sure there are things that I am forgetting to mention. Clinton engine A 2100,
Here is a"previous owner refurnished" small engine made by Clinton. Type according to the engine data plate is A2100. It has the recoil start(cover reads Fairbanks Morse) Overall I would say it is in ok condition. It does spark, tank is dry and ok, has the correct Clinton carburetor and air filter and should run with hardly any effort. I can't really vouch for the correctness of the tank, it looks it belongs there and the cut outs at the mounting points are also correct. The is a weld at the bottom(see picture) but it seemed well made. The muffler is one of the aftermarket reproduction pieces. It weighs approx. 22lbs w/o packing. I will drain the oil and can pack properly for shipping. Pickup in the N.GA mountains is ok. Most likely I will ship with FEDEX home delivery service. For auction is an old Briggs gas engine. I think it is a model WI but it might be an NS. It has a Sears tag instead of a Briggs tag and I have not looked it up to see what model it actually is. I had the engine running and let it run for about 20 minutes. It had been sitting for a very long time prior to my getting it. It has good compression and fire. It has the original Allstate sparkplug still in it. The flywheel is rubbing very lightly on the screws that hold the tin point cover- I'm not sure what is needed to correct it. MAYTAG Gas Engine 92, sparks with no breaks, cracks or welds,
Here is one of the Maytag washing machine engines. It is a single cylinder, also commonly know as model 92. Someone went through the engine and refurbished it as needed. The original Champion spark plug has a nice spark and with the proper 16:1 fuel mixture it shouldn't take much to get it running. May have to learn how to properly start these engines because that is always cause for headache and frustration. Looking over the engine. I did not see any breaks, cracks or welded repairs. Unfortunately I cannot make out a serial number on the flywheel rim, but these engines where made from late'20s to mid'30s. It does have a air breather, which normally would put it in the early'30s. The ID plate is quite faded, but it is stamped that this engine was mounted on the washing machine type 16, 26. It is the short tank base. The engine ... moreoverall has a coupel spots where either old residue from decals or possible fuel spills discolored the paint. Looking over the pictures, you can see that this engine is mostly redone with all original parts, brass screws at carburetor, tank mounting screws, set screws at the pulley, they have not been substituded with Home Depot hardware. I would place this in the ready to go category. It is not restored to a shiny, show stopper standard(those already fetch over $ 500) or is a garage/barn beater which also demand there price and all necessary parts you need will add up in the hundreds. Please ask questions before the auction is over. The approx. shipping weight is around 65lbs(not including the packaging) It is mounted on a home made skid. Which of course, I can dispose off to lighten the load for shipping purpose. Pickup in the N.GA mountains is welcome. 1953 Briggs and Stratton 5S recoil start, refurbished
Here is a little. Well known Briggs& Stratton engine. It is the 5S type and according to the serial number it is made around Dec/1953. It was refurbished by the previous owner. Has good spark and seems overall complete and ready to go. The tank is dry and clean(minor surface rust probably due to humidity, nothing serious) Has a pulley cover(made in Hagerstown/Indiana) which actually slides on the shaft. Don't know if this was done to accommodate various belt sizes, haven't seen too many with those. The shroud is undented. It appears one of the carburetor attachment bolts was broken off. So carb is held in place with only to bolts. The color of the crank case is obviously not original black, but it is easy one the eyes. It also has the correct oil bath cleaner and the original steel muffler(not the thin chinese reproduction) Would ... morebe a nice donor for some vintage gocarts, or to get the youngens into the engine hobby with something easy, light weight and not"the boring black" paint. It is mounted on a board and weighs complete approx. 38lbs. I will drain the oil and can pack properly for shipping. Pickup in the N.GA mountains is ok. The biggest problem with this engine is a magneto coil with melted insulation which is a common in single coil engines. Insulation varnish is all over the engine. Essex Hot Air Engine, Vintage Stirling, Stationary Engine
I am offering a vintage and rare Essex hot air engine. These engines were used to drive store displays. Peanut roasters and dentists tools(so I have read) Stamped on top is"ESSEX PAT MCH 24 1903. It is mounted on a crudely cut piece of wood with a hole for applying heat to the furnace. Some of the furnace insulation is missing and as you can see from the photo, the furnace wall has rusted through in a couple of locations. Otherwise, the engine is in very original condition and runs great. You can see it run at using a propane torch for heat. These engines may have come with a small kerosene container and heat source. This motor does NOT have that feature. The motor with board weighs 14lb and is approximately 20" long and has a 6" flywheel. Let me know if you have any questions. Antique Vintage Briggs and Stratton WMB, WI, WM, 5S restored
Here is another small vintage. Collectible engine. Unfortunately it does not have a data plate, but probably belongs to the Briggs WMB. WI, 5S? series. It is painted in all correct black. Has the correct oil bath cleaner and carburetor. Muffler is missing, but for a couple bucks you can purchase a aftermarket reproduction muffler. The tank as a couple minor dings, although previously cleaned, I guess the high humidity produced a new layer of small rust spots. So the first couple runs you may want to clean out the sediment bowl more often. This is a rope start model and probably was used to power a lawn mower. It does have a good spark and you can see the engine has been gone through. Because of all new gaskets at the oil pan, carb. I will drain the oil and pack properly if it needs to be shipped. Antique Vintage Briggs and Stratton WMB, WM, Sears 500
Here is a vintage Briggs and Stratton engine. Badged and probably sold as and by Sears as Model 500. I believe they resemble the WMB or WM line from Briggs. It is an older restoration. Where the previous owner didn't agree with Henry Fords color selection philosophy. The block, head, carb and flywheel is painted red. It is the kickstart model, which also places it in the washing machine application like so many others, such as Maytag, Iron Horse, Continental. The shroud is not rusted. Has a couple minor imperfections, but is far from being a"repainted, beat up piece of sheet metal" The pot metal carburetor(mixer) is also in good condition. Nothing broken off. You can see that the tank is not original, however, it is very clean on the inside and somebody went through great length to made an adapter plate which a) closed the carburetor ... morehole for the previous application and b) to adapt the check valve and fuel line. The engine sparks and probably only needs some gas to fire up. The governor linkage is also there. The muffler is not here. Many substitute these aftermarket repro muffler, commonly available for a couple bucks. It is mounted on a piece of plywood for storage and display, however, I will remove for a more compact packing. Overall. This is a nice little engine, a step away from the boring black, but maybe that will attract some youngsters or a collector who wants to freshen up his line of 50 or more black painted engines. I will drain the oil and pack properly if it needs to be shipped. The engine weighs approx. 35lbs and I will ship this most likely FEDEX ground. Witte 12HP Dieselectric Stationary Engine Hit Miss
You are Bidding on a Witte Dieselectric 12HP Oil Field engine. It is a Model MD Serial Number D17013. I had this running briefly a couple years ago by injecting fuel in the breather. What a beast! Unfortunately over the winter the plug allowed snow to build in the hopper. Melt and then freeze, cracking the head. I don't have pictures of the cracks at this time but I will try to add them soon. I don't think they would be to hard to weld and I haven't taken the time to look for a new head. The engine is on a home made trailer as seen in the pictures. Trailer has 2 Bulldog Jacks and a 2" hitch. Lights probably need rewired. I wanted this to be the center of my collection but I dont forsee having the time or money any time soon so it needs to go. There is no damage or repairs. The bracket has two 17/32 holes, 2 3/8 inches apart. I have seen this same bracket listed for a Galloway engine. The whole unit is complete. Vintage Power Products Tecumseh Lauson Go Kart Mini Bike Engine 2 Cycle Stroke I believe it was in the early 1960s when Tecumseh. Lauson and Power Products became one company. This engine has all three names on it but I could not find a model number. It was probably on a decal, now gone. 2 stroke. Untested but engine does spin over with good compression. Lot 2x 9-Inch Cast Iron Flywheels with Bearings and Axles + One-Way Rollers
Two 9-inch cast iron flywheels with bearings and steel axles. One got left outside overnight and got a light surface rust. It looked exactly like the other one before that. The U-shaped bolt tightens the axle to the flywheel. The black rubber rollers turn only one way. They have roller bearings(see the picture) They operate silently. All the axle bearings are high quality and smooth running. The pieces on one side of one axle wont slide off like the rest. I won't try removing it. These can be powered by a belt on either of the black rollers or on the flywheel groove. Measurements: Flywheels: 9-1/8" x 1-5/16 Flywheel Groove: 3/4" Axles: 11-5/8" x 5/8" Small Bearings: 1-3/8" od x 7/16" Black Rollers: 2-5/16" diameter x 2-3/16" long

Power Products 5800 engine.
Good Engine To clean up and run. Everything Works! Has good compression. Pull start works. I took a picture of the spark while pulling the rope start. Recoil works. The spark is in the last picture. I had trouble timing the pulling with the camara shutter I blocked some of the spark and it is blurry from moving in a slow shutter. It can still be seen in the last picture. Has a good clutch which is included. The clutch housing has a shaft that could have a gear attached if wanted. The clutch shoes have little wear. The rope start is imbossed with an insignia and the words FAIRBANKS MORRIS. Carburator is a tillotson double diaphragm with the number HL15A on it's base. Schroud has the cut off switch. Good muffler. Good air cleaner. Throttle linkage returns by spring action. No broken fins. There is no tag on the engine. Engine is exactly ... morethe same size as the 5800 engines. 1913 Sandow Tulip Top 2 Cycle Stationary Engine
Here we have 1913 Sandow stationary 2 cycle engine. According to Wendel's book it is 2 1/2 HP. It uses fuel injection instead of a carburetor, and the fuel system is all there except for a gas tank. It turns over and is complete except for the oilers and a grease cup, but those are easily found. It does have an old patch on the bottom of the crankcase, but it is an old one and it looks like it has been run after it was done. Otherwise it has no other cracks, breaks, or repairs to it. The bearings feel good and snug, the timer is all there and looks to be in good condition. All it needs are the oilers, a grease cup, and some skids and a gas tank to run! Vacuum Rotor Dayton Flame Licker Cast Iron Engine Toy
It runs great and sounds better but didn't at first. The piston was stuck with grunge and removed by using a plate over the port and pressing it out with a grease gun. Another problem it had was the plate where the piston rod attaches was not connected to the flywheel shaft. A small pulley with a set screw was used and JB welded to the plate. The set screw allowed the right timing spot to be found which turns out to be after the flame is drawn in the slide valve closes right before the piston reaches full travel which cools the hot air by pulling on it a bit that's just a theory. The plate wobbles just bit where the piston rod attaches but not enough to effect operation. Several different fuels were tried now I don't remember the best. VINTAGE ANTIQUE BRIGGS & STRATTON GAS ENGINE "IT STILL RUNS" 1st pull
Auctioning a vintage clinton engine. The model and ID tag is missing but I believe it was a forerunner to the model 700. This unit starts on the first pull and will run for hours on just a quart of gasoline. Recently I quickly refurbished it to fumigate some mice that were taking over an outbuilding of mine. I removed the head and decarbonized the combustion chamber. Cleaned the carb and cleaned up the mag. It was a quickie but it now starts on the 1st pull and runs till its out of fuel. Flywheel is solid and has no cracks. Because of the age of this engine I am selling without warranty. MAYTAG BALL MUFFLER. HOSE, FLANGE FOR MODEL 92. 72, OTHERS GOOD ORIGINAL CONDITION THIS IS A GUARANTEED GENUINE MAYTAG CAST IRON BALL MUFFLER. COMPLETE WITH HOSE AND FLANGE. This would have been for a Maytag Multimotor, a model 92, 72, or possibly others. The hose on this one is long, about 96 inches to be more exact. There are no breaks or cracks. Some might ask why I am selling the muffler separate from ... morethe multimotor. There are three reasons: first. They came out of different estates, so this particular was never on the engine I am selling; second, not everyone wants this type muffler on their engine, and others already have an engine and are seeking only a muffler; and third, I operate on a rather thin profit margin, and I am not sure the muffler would increase the selling price on the engine anyway, more critical since I purchased them separately. I sell all mechanical and electrical devices in technically"as-is" condition. As old items can get damaged or out-of-adjustment in shipping. However, you still have a 14 day inspection period during which it can be returned for any reason, or for no reason, as long as it is in the same condition in which I shipped it. MAYTAG MULTIMOTOR MODEL 92 GOOD ORIGINAL CONDITION THIS IS A GUARANTEED GENUINE MAYTAG MULTIMOTOR MODEL 92 HIT-AND-MISS GAS ENGINE. The paint. While far from perfect, is original, as are the decals. It is serial number 372442, which would have been produced between July 1 and September 30, 1929. This motor was well taken care of. In the estate from which I bought it. It was in a wood-working shop, no doubt ... morekept as a curiosity. I cleaned the sawdust, remove the gas residue from the tank, cleaned the spark plug and carburetor(and replaced its gasket) The needle valve is in good shape, still sharp. I have run it several times; of course, I do not guarantee that it will start the first time or every time, but I had it running well. My grandmother had a Maytag with one of these engines, and after her death, my father removed it and ran a pump sprayer with it, so I know a little about how temperamental they can be. There are some stress cracks in the retainer ring just inside the pulley(see photos) I normally offer next day shipping. But will be unable to do so with this, especially if I have to crate it up. About shipping: free for pick-up, and I can hold it for a considerable period if paid for in a timely fashion. I will personally deliver FREE within 50 miles of Zip Code 20601; I will deliver it for a flat fee of $25 within 100 miles of 20601, and for $50 within 150 miles. Vintage Power Products T-1141 Go Kart Mini Bike Engine RUNS Two stroke Power Products engine. Model 1141 serial#2955609. Runs via squirt bottle. See video above, I had the oil mixed a little heavy in the fuel, better too much than not enough though. I dont believe the fuel tank mounting brackets are factory. One of the cool features of these engines is that they can be mounted at different angles depending on your application. The carburetor has an adapter plate to allow it to be mounted at different angles, see close up photo, the previous owner obviously had this one mounted as such. The shaft is 5/8" diameter and 2-3/8" long. The pull handle is cracked and has a small piece missing. See photos in super size for condition. 1937 Montgomery Wards Battery Charger Hummer E2 Gas Engine Generator Pair of 2
Pair of approximately 1937 Hummer model E2 engines running Montgomery Wards battery chargers or generators. Mounted on a homemade 2 wheel wheelbarrow type cart. Both engines have been restored and run. Although they are a little tempermental and may need a little tinkering to get running. Green Engine specifics: Model E2 Horsepower 5/8 RPM 1750 Serial E2H20194 This engine is a direct drive generator with a cast iron base and a tin gas tank(repaired) beneath engine and generator. It has a 6 volt battery and coil ignition system. Has points in the housing on the end of the crankshaft. Has a foot pedal for starting that doesn't work well so I start it by wrapping a pull rope around the pulley. The generator has been cleaned up and seems to charge. But I'm no generator expert. There are some neat little knife switches next to the ampmeter ... moreto turn charge on anf off and to start or stop the engine. Has a foot pedal for starting that works good. It has an old repair to the crankcase that was repaired before I got it that does not affect operation at all. This one does smoke a little. The generator has been cleaned up and seems to charge but is not wired up to charge batteries. See it run here I have totally disassembled. Cleaned and reassembled both of these engines myself. I built the cart from salvaged materials and new wood. I don't think you will find a better pair of Hummer engines anywhere!
