Description: This is a very nice and well written book by the famous C.H. Wendel from Atkins. Iowa. This book was originally published in 1982 and then reprinted in 1987 by Stemgash Publishing Company. It covers the history of Fairbanks engines as well as a brief part in the beginning about the Fairbanks Eclipse windmill and also Fairbanks scales. Fairbanks. As you know, is one of the largest engine manufactures from days gone by and produced a wide variety of engines and many different horse powers and ratings, both stationary and portable in single cylinder and multiple cylinder engines. This is a very well put together book with lots of information as well as old photographs and copies of advertisements. The book is 100 pages in length and measures 8 1/2 by 11. After the Civil War, a Fairbanks employee, Charles Hosmer Morse, was sent to open an office in Chicago, Within a few years, Morse had engineered the purchase of Leonard Wheeler and his Eclipse Windmill business in Beloit, Wisc. The addition of windmills proved to be the key to making Fairbanks a highly successful national company, and Morse was made a partner in the company. This is a very nice original book called"Fairbanks Morse. 100 Years of Engine Technology" It was published in 1993 by Stemgas Publishing and was authored by CH Wendel, who authored several books about engines and early farm equipment. It is very detailed and has tons of information about all aspects of Fairbanks Morse engines. It is heavily illustrated and is definitely a must have for any early engine collector or enthusiast! Old Fairbanks Morse Pioneers Book Hit Miss Gas Engine Windmill Pump Scale NICE!!
This is a very neat original book published in 1945 entitled"Pioneers in Industry. Fairbanks Morse and Company 1830-1945" It measures about 9 x 12 inches and has 160 pages. It is in good condition for its age with some general wear and a loose binding but the inside pages are in excllent condition. It has chapters on scales, windmills, pumps, railroad equipment, gasoline engines, motors, diesel engines and more. It has a second part with chapters on World War II and an overview of the company in 1945. The book is heavily illustrated and has some excellent reading in it! This is a pretty scarce book and would be a fine addition to your early industrial literature collection especially if you like Fairbanks Morse engines, scales, windmills, or machinery in general.
