DESCRIPTION Fairbanks. Morse& Company had its beginning in 1823 when inventor Thaddeus Fairbanks began an ironworks in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, to manufacture two of his patented inventions, a cast iron plow and a heating stove. In 1829 he started in a hemp dressing business for which he built the machinery. Though unsuccessful in fabrication for fibre factories, another invention by Thaddeus, the platform scale, formed the basis for the great enterprise. In the late nineteenth century business expanded in the Western United States. As did the company's catalog. It grew to include typewriters, hand trucks, railway velocipedes, pumps, tractors and a variety of warehouse and bulk shipping tools. The company became an industrial supplier distributing complete"turn-key" systems: tools, plumbing, gauges, gaskets, parts, valves ... moreand pipe. Fairbanks Morse and Company was a manufacturing company in the late 19th and early 20th century. Originally a weighing scale manufacturer. It later diversified into pumps, engines, windmills, locomotives and industrial supplies. This is a collection of vintage catalogs spanning the years 1910 to 1920. Of special note is the 1910 Fairbanks-Morse catalog. A wonderfully illustrated catalog, full of engines, pumps, parts, information on there workings, and more. Includes a very interesting section for farm power plants, generators, lamps, bulbs and everything you need to electrify an early farm establishment. 6HP FAIRBANKS MORSE Z ENGINE PISTON GOOD SHAPE NO CRACKS BREAKS OR WELDS!!!
Here is a piston from a 1919 6HP open crankcase throttle governed engine that is in very good shape and was a great running engine. The piston is in good shape but DOES HAVE SOME SCRATCHES AND SCORING but the engine had good compression. I tried to get the best pics possible but is hard to do. This piston is the match to this block I am selling and does come complete with the rings. Wrist pin and lock screw for wrist pin, ready to put in your engine and run! This should fit a hit and miss, but give me your dimensions and we'll see for sure. This was a good running engine and was parted out only because where I live there is NOWHERE to ship engines from. Old 6hp Fairbanks Morse Z Hit Miss Gas Engine Cast Iron Belt Pulley Steam Oiler
This is an original cast iron flat belt pulley for a Fairbanks Morse Z gas engine. It measures about 12 inches in diameter with a 6 1/2 inch face. It mounts to every other spoke of the flywheels on a 7 3/8 inch bolt pattern. It is in good condition with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs other than one of the mounting lugs being broken off. The piece is there and it should be pretty easy repair. These big plain pulleys don't turn up very often in the wild or even at swap meets so if you've been looking for one to put on your engine so you can run something with it here it is. I've sold these for over $200 here on Ebay and this one just needs a little talent in the shop to be perfect. The pictures tell the story. It would even be a good spare on the shelf. Good Luck.

HOT fairbanks morse type J magneto 2 cylinder for Wisconsin model TF engine
This auction is for a Fairbanks morse magneto off a 2 cylinder Wisconsin model TF engine. I cleaned it and the spark will jump about 1/4 gap. Has a good drive gear and good snap to the impulse. I see no cracks in either of the two distributor caps. The magneto was removed from an engine that was sitting inside.It was covered with an inch of thick grease.I cleaned it and found the distributor caps to be in very good condition.Caps are not faded. Has a little grey paint on the distributor cap. I also have the two mounting bolts with the special nut listed. Wisconsin made more than one model of two cylinder engines. Not all magnetos will enterchange. Make sure this is the correct part for your engine before you bid. The magneto is a type J. Marked as having a 30 degree lag angle. Turns clockwise. This is an intake valve. Spring and keeper for a 6HP throttle governed engine. It is in good shape and came off of a running engine(see picture) It is about 5 inches long and is right at 2 1/4(about 2 3/16) inches in diameter(3/8 inch stem diameter) Probably wouldn't hurt getting ground again. But might just lap into your head. It has been ground many times and is getting sharp at the upper edge, but is still a very good useable valve. This Fairbanks Morse pre-heater blow torch is for display only. It has the desirable vertical burner. The burner has been repaired but still has some minor cracks. It is in otherwise good condition and will look real nice next to a restored engine or just on a shelf. This torch can be found on page 184 of the Blow Torch Collectors Association publication"VINTAGE BLOWTORCHES" The torch includes the original wrench for removing the pump assembly for filling the tank. The wrench does not fit over the handle. I assume this was done so the wrench would not get lost. It will slip over the pump assembly when the pump assembly is removed. Found recently with some other junk. I believe it's for the plug oscillator Fairbanks Morse but can't remember and haven't looked at one in a long time so you be the judge. Armature is loose and I feel a pretty decent magnetic pull. Unfortunately the pot metal base is deteriorating. There is a number 350210 stamped in the base. Please see pics. Ask questions if needed. 3 HP antique engine muffler, Hit and Miss, Fairbanks Morse, ect
This muffler was in a 3HP Fairbanks Morse engine I had. It is not an original to the old engines, but is a good looking good sounding muffler on them. It is 1 1/2" IPT and stands about 4" nipple length)out from the engine and is aprox 2 1/2 inches thick from that point(muffler itself) total length from the engine is aprox 5" minus threaded end into the engine) It is not all rusted out and is a heavy guage steel. I have been told it was possibly from old Wisconsins or Briggs engines also, but works either way. Please consider the pictures as part of the description and ask any questions you may have. Old Rare French Fairbanks Morse Z Hit Miss Gas Engine Sales Poster Steam Oiler
This is a very rare original French sales brochure for the Fairbanks Morse Z gas engines. It measures about 3 3/4 x 6 inches and unfolds to a nice poster size of 11 1/4 x 18 inches. It is in good condition with minor wear and creasing. It has very detailed illustrations. It shows many different configurations of the engines and has specifications of the engines from 1 1/2 to 20 horsepower. This sales brochure would be a fine addition to your early engine literature collection. It would also look great framed and displayed with your Fairbanks Morse engine at the shows. I have owned many pieces of original sales literature and have seen alot more but I've never seen this particular piece. I don't think there's many left to be found out in the wild. Original Fairbanks Morse Scales Porcelain Grain Elevator Sign Hit Miss Engine
This is a nice original Fairbanks Morse Scales porcelain sign that used to hang on scalehouse at the grain elevators. It measures about 9 x 50 inches and is in excellent original condition with only a few minor woulds and a chip along the top edge. It was made by the Burdick Company in Chicago. It still displays very bright and vibrant colors and could probably even be cleaned up a bit but I left it all original just as it was removed. The back is in great condition as well. All of the original mounting grommets are in place. There are a few very small holes that take very little away from this sign's displayability. These signs are getting very hard to find in the wild especially in this condition. I have seen these signs sell for over $600 but I'm asking a bit less. It would be a great addition to your early advertising collection ... moreespecially if you like Fairbanks Morse scales! The pictures tell the story. You won't be disappointed in any way. Good Luck.

Here is a rare find. This is an all original factory clutch for a 6 HP Fairbanks. It is in good shape and has been in our shed for many years. I looked it over and I don't see anything broken or missing. It Is rusty and will need a cleanup. But it is all complete and looks good. There are a number of 6 HP Fairbanks Morse Z engines out there, but how many have the original clutch pulley? Here's your chance to buy a rare accessory for your engine to dress it up. Here is a complete set of greasers from a 1919 6HP open crankcase throttle governed engine that are all in very good shape. The three larger cups have 1/4" pipe thread and the two smaller have 1/8" pipe threads on them. They are as far as I know original to the engine. But will fit any engine with the same threads. I have not cleaned them so if you want original dirt/patina they come with it. We combine shipping. Thanks for looking and please check out our other items.
