Antique Mid 19th Century Engine Turned Decoration Strong Box w Key
Mid 19th century or earlier? handsome and decorative metal locking strong box that looks like it is made of carbon steel to me but I can't be sure. It weighs 3 pounds 3 ounces and measures 6 1/4 long. 4 5/8 ths wide and 3 inches tall. All the sides have the same engine turned decoration. The seams are dovetailed as pictured and the hinge is strong. The top has no decoration but has a great handle. The locking mechanism is working and it comes with one key. The 11th picture has the only mark I can find on the box and it is near the middle on the bottom. There is patina as pictured, light wear for age, and no damage, seam splits, losses.

It's marked Voltamp and from my research it's a dynamo or generator. It could also be used as an electric motor. It is in excellent orignal condition with no cracks or breaks. The base measures about 4 3/4 x 5 1/4 inches and the unit is about 3 3/4 inchs tall overall. It turns freely with little wear in the bearings. I have tested it with 6 volts and it works fine! It has a pulley for a belt. It may have some connection to hit and miss gas or steam engine models. The pictures tell the story. It also has a buffing wheel that it can run from that pulley(needs a belt) Could have been used by a jeweler or perhaps it's a model. For sale is an antique. Engine turned silver matchbox holder, dating I'd imagine to the early 20th century, circa 1900-1910. The holder is in good condition, with only one small, not very noticeable dent. The holder is marked on the base of the spine. These hallmarks appear to be Russian to me, but I'm not 100% certain. The holder measures 4.3cm long, 2.9 cm wide, and 1.3 cm in depth. If there are any further questions, please ask. International buyers please pay using Paypal. Let me start off by saying I am not 100% on this one. I know it is an antique electric motor of some type. I am not sure if it is for antique toy ran by steam engine or maybe a patent model. There are no markings anywhere on it. It does look like the arm that makes contact with the shaft the flywheel is on was replaced at one time. Other than that it seems to be all complete. My parents found them in their 100 year old home/farm and have asked me to help them sell them and get them to people who will appreciate them. Some light house tenders, some tug boats, stern wheels and ships boilers, and lists of the different ships boilers and whatnot. Some are of some logging equipment, and some miscellaneous. I am not a historian. Or a blue print collector so I don't know the official terms for conditions of them. From what I can tell most of these in this grouping are various Large Ship’s engines. Boilers and arrangements of piping, parts, equipment and mechanical engineering stuff. Rare Antique Essex Steam Engine - Pat. 1903 - Old & Original
An old Essex Steam Engine. The engine has a patent date of March 24. 1903 on top. Designed to be a working engine to operate small tools and equipment. And not a toy. It is 18" long& 6 1/2" tall to the top of the wheel. It weighs almost 12 pounds including the board it is mounted on. The wheel turns and the long rod moves along the side. The other end where the rod connects doesn't go in and out. I don't know if it is froze or if it will pump when it is heated up. There is an old weld repair on the cast iron part that connects to the wheel(last picture) see enlarged pictures) All the parts we have for the engine are pictured. We haven't tested the engine and we are selling it just as it is. Stored for many years in a Missouri estate. Very Rare. Might be a fun project for a good steam engine man. My grandfather used to work for L&N and knows most of the histo ry of this bell. It was made around 1942 and used for about 31 years. The engine it was used on was scrapped in 1973 and t he bell has be en in storage ever since. L&N bought 16 diesel locomotives in 1942(everything before was steam) and this bell belonged to one of those original 16. The bell is made of solid b rass with cast iron fittings and striker. There are various ra ised numbers and letters on it. On the ou tside of the bell there are two set s that a ppear to read EMD and 8004156. The square bracke t at the top has 8044623 REV A. And supposedly took these picture was named Chas. W. Bale. He lived in Portland, Oregon. He did work for Willamette Iron and Steel. Detroit Shipbuilding Engineering Company, Great Lakes Engineering Works and several others. So far we have seen blueprints of Ships’ cross sections. Some light house tenders, some tug boats, stern wheels and ships boilers, and lists of the different ships boilers and whatnot. Some are of some logging equipment, and some miscellaneous. Now we are getting into the glass negatives that were left there.

ANTIQUE STEAM ENGINE BRASS FLYBALL FOR GOVERNOR?
This came for a old farm estate. I beleive it is a type of flyball for a steamengine's governor. It is solid brass with a metal spindle. The flyballs go up and down with centrifugal force. They are atteched to jointed arms that are connected to a lower main brass piece that the spindle slides through. This main piece does not move up or down and I'm not sure if it even should. And if so it is possible that it is frozen on the spindle because of dissimilar metals. The upper brass body is attached to the spindle by one screw which also is frozen. The end of the spindle is twisted like a drill bit and has a point at the end. Spindle is 7" long. The balls ar 3/4" in diameter and when straight out reach 4 1/2" apart. This is a great antique 1914 twin cylinder model steam engine. Double wheel and double fly valve. Has one gear drive most likely to power a tram or something similar and one belt drive most likely to power a mill or similar thing. Cast iron base has plaque that reads'Built by A. Amann, 1914, Rochester, N.Y. Wheels turn and pistons move. Overall measures 14' h. x 20 1/2' x 18' the actual machine not the oak base) I am far from an expert in these engine types(although I do sell live steam engines from time to time) and other pieces may be missing I am not aware of.
