Fairbanks Vega Whyte Ladie 12 Inch 5 String Conversion Style R
This auction is for a vintage Fairbanks made by the Vega Company 12 inch Whyte Ladie style R 5 string conversion. This one was made in Boston dates to 1925 to 1930 best I can tell. Serial number is 41# matching dowel number as rim. This one came out of South Carolina. All original parts except for Neck which was made 20 maybe 30 years ago it is straight and true with excellent intonation. I see no wear on these frets. It has the original Whyte Ladie scalloped tone ring. Looks like a pretty old head. Not skin. Old case but not the original to my knowledge. 1 3/16th inch nut width. Stands a good 36 inches tall +/ Scale is 26.25 inch on the money. Measures 13 1/8 inch to fret 12. Superb action! 1/16thinch at 1st fret. 3/16 inch at 12 th fret. Scratches here and there. Nickel in overall good condition with some wear and lack of polishing. The ... moreneck joint looks a little rough but the structure and joint is sound and the sound is awesome. Fairbanks Vega Whyte Ladie 12 Inch Style R 1930's c.
Please read the above under Condition Description. Old used Fairbanks Vega banjo pot assy style R. It has scratches. Small dents. Large 11 and 7/8 inch pot. Dowel included but serial numbers do not match. They both start with the number 8 I believe. Dowel is a little rough but gives it great character. It is solid not broken nor has the portion that enters the neck been drilled out and replaced. Dowel was sweated off the Gryphon neck this evening. 30 hooks and nuts. At least two nuts do not match tehy have flat bottoms not rounded. I have no clue if these are original hooks and nuts. The chrome or nickel is shiny with little if any tarnish. So old pot with the usual blems expected. Tortoise binding in great condition. Beautiful assymbly. $30 shipping UP Ground lower 48. You are bidding on an antique scale made by Fairbanks. It is pre-1928 because Fairbanks became Fairbanks-morse in 1928. The uniqueness if this scale is determined by the arm that has Fairbanks on it. It is labeled 250 lb. capacity but does not have the weights for more than 60 lbs. It measures 27" tall. X 12" wide, x 21.5" wide. I believe it was used as a market scale. This listing is for an extremely clean A. C. Fairbanks mandolin. All original, set up and ready to play. From online articles, and some ebay friends, I've determined this must have been built around 1900. There are no cracks or damage. The action is smooth all the way up the neck. Not too shabby for 110+ years! Very nice ivoroid-black-ivoroid binding, and the brazilian rosewood is just naturally stunning. The sound is not quite as loud as a modern carved-top mando. But the tonal range is very nice- with a good resonance and a bright, clear voice. The number 60, stamped on the back of the head, apparently indicates this is the Regent style. 1890's 5 String Banjo made for H.C.Barnes by Fairbanks
Up for the highest bidder is a 120 year old Banjo that is about as original as it gets. Minus the Grover bridge and strings of course which are new Aquila Nylgut. It was made by Fairbanks for the higher end music retailer of the time H.C. Barnes. I think the Fairbanks version was called the"Senator" The serial number on this Banjo is"23" it is on the ring and pole piece. It has original friction tuners, head, Fairbanks and Cole tail piece and full spun 11" pot fastened with hex nuts and washers. It is in great shape for being over 120 years old. The neck is straight and is missing no hardware with exception of one handmade mop inlay at the 5th fret. The finger board appears to be ebony and the neck mahogany. Description. Up for auction is an antique Fairbanks Grain Scale. This scale is in excellent shape, and I believe was used in a grain buying terminal to be used in weighing a sample for tests such as moisture, grade, and wieght per volume. This scale is mainly brass construction with only a few steel parts. The wieght on the arm of the scale has many marking which I believe may be yearly inspection marks, it is also marked with"Fairbanks" and also a crown with a"CR" inside ... moreof it. The wieghing arm measures 13.5 inches and is marked"Imperial Bushel" and a"59" on the underside. The brass bucket is marked"24 H" and has the same crown mark, it also is marked B.S.M Imperial Quart No. 64252, it measures 5 inches high and about 4.5 inches across. The arm and bucket wiegh a total of 5 pounds 4 ounces. I believe this scale was made in the 1910s or possibly early but I do not know for sure. Over all I believe this scale is in excellent shape, we have left any cleaning or polishing process up to the buyer, some prefer polished and if you are like us like items in their natural state. RARE UNUSUAL ANTIQUE FAIRBANKS CREAM TESTING SCALE !
I don't think it is for eggs though those prongs would certainly work great. The weight measurements are 0. 3, 4 1/2, 9,18G. There are two levels plus the fine adjustment weight on the beam. It is embossed fairbanks on the iron base as you can see. The levels are not broken. The scale does need some cleaning but I don't see anything broken anywhere- just needs a little elbow grease. I would love to learn more about this one. If anyone would like to share what this scale is used for- please let me know. This item is a vintage Vega Fairbanks Tubaphone banjo pot. It is in excellent usable condition. It measures 10 15/16 inches in diameter and has a complete set of brackets and nuts. There is mounted a new Remo plastic head. The dowel stick is from a Vega style N tenor banjo. The serial numbers of course do not match. The dowel is usable and will fit the pot. But needs some adjusting and a neck brace. A usable end bolt is included. It is NOT gold plated.

Fairbanks by Vega Tu-Ba-Phone Style M extended fretboard tenor banjo with 20 frets. Serial number 49269. Overall length 31" Scale 20 3/4" Head 11 3/4" Grover tuners. No Knot tailpiece. Unmarked armrest. Hardware very clean with some pitted bracket hooks but no corrosion. Neck looks straight with 3/16" action at fret 12 with 1/2" bridge. Fretboard is smooth. Moderate fretware in first two positions. Back of neck is smooth with no dings. Peghead veneer is cracked at 2nd string and appears to have been home remedy stabilized with a cloth washer( seen in photo 2. One bracket bolt sheared off and shoe attached with bondo material and non-original hook replacement(photo 4) Purchased from family friend of original owner(a"will" in case compartment) so otherwise banjo thought to be all original but cannot say with ... moreabsolute certainty. Comes with hardshell case that banjo came in so it may be the original. Case is scratched but is whole and all latches work so is sufficient to protect banjo. I'm not an expert in these things so all I can do it to tell you what I see. All of the cast iron is great. The wheels measure 31 1/2" across center and both are marked: Fairbanks Mill, Chicago, Ill. We do have the original wheels for the stand, but don't have a photo of them. You can change to turning wood knob to either wheel. There is only one wood knob. The rubber that goes around each wheel is outstanding for its age, all is present. The wheels turn freely. The inside is pretty clean for cast iron, no build up of rust. Inside the solid wheel reads: Pat'D Nov. 9 1886. One end cap is missing from one wheel. The tin ground bucket or container has ... moreholes in the bottom. As seen in photo it is evident that the copper coffee hopper is a sad replacement and has been fabricated from a lidded copper vessel. To make this fit into the grinder it was filled with spackle and a piece of electrical conduit pipe was inserted. A hole then was cut into the copper pot and held down with a nut. The spackle does chip away fairly easy, but will take alittle elbow grease. Please examine all photos carefully and closely and ask any and all questions. If there is something else missing, I'm not aware of it. This is my first floor model grinder, so please examine photos. I will do my best to answer them. vintage fairbanks cast iron and brass scales in grams weight unknown use
up for auction is a small fairbanks scales. It is made of cast iron with a nickle plated brass beam and brass weights there is some nickle worn off. the base is 3 1/2 inches wide by 4 1/2 inches long. it is 4 1/2 inches tall to the top of the 2 1/2 inch pan that has four, 1 inch tall pieces of wire soldered to it. the beam is 8 inches long and is marked in graduations of 0, 3, 41/2, 9, and 18 grams on both sides. there is light rust on the underside but it appears to be complete and works. thanks for looking and good luck.

Working Antique Fairbanks Doctors Scale Iron & Steel Great Restoration Project
This auction is for a Fabulous Antique Doctors Scale in Very Heavy Iron and Steel made by Fairbanks. It would make a Perfect Restoration Project. It appears completely intact. Including the adjustable height measuring rod that measures someone up to 78 inches tall. And it is in working condition and in fact is very accurate based on my tests. The scale will measure someone's weight up to 300 pounds. There doesn't appear to be any breaks or damage to the scale. There are several coats of old white and whitish paint as you can see from the photos. You can see. Although faintly, the old Fairbanks logo beneath the paint at the top of the scale(see last photo) It is also marked Fairbanks on the weight bracket at top. This is a completely restored 1914 Vega Fairbanks 17 fret tenor banjo.All parts are original.the only piece replaced is a Fiberskyn3 head for the instrument. Selected from brown dog banjos to fit this pot.All wooden parts received a light sanding to not remove aged patina and 6 coats of hand rubbed Tung oil applied. This auction is. From what my research tells me, a fairly special banjo. It is a 4-string banjo which bears following markings to the Dowel Stick: Impressed mark which reads: Fairbanks Banjo Made By The Vega Company Boston Mass Either Side of the above mark is a further 2 impressed marks of the word VEGA within a circle within a 5-point star. Impressed mark which reads: PAT DEC 30 1890 JAN 10 1893 JULY 27 1909(Please note this mark is difficult to read so dates quoted may be in error) To the right-hand end of the Dowel Stick is a plate stating: Made Expressly For OLIVER DITSON CO. Boston– New York To the side of the Dowel Stick is the impressed mark: WHYTE LADIE To the side of the Dowel Stick and to the inner edge of the Pot is the number: 36259 To the reverse/under side of the Dowel Stick is a hand-written pencil annotation which appears ... moreto read: WL- 2 By reference to the extremely helpful site I believe the serial number“36259” dates this instrument to around 1917/18. The pencil reference to“WL– 2” presumably refers to this instrument being a Whyte Ladie- Model 2. The instrument has the following approximate dimensions: Head Length(to Nut) = 5½” Neck Length(Nut to Rim) = 19 10/ 16” Diameter Head = 11” Diameter Back = 12 9/ 16” Hoop Thickness = 3/ 16” The neck and pot appear to be made from maple whilst the fingerboard appears to be ebony. The head vellum has an inscription(beneath the tailpiece) reading: REMO Weather King BANJO Made in U.S.A. In terms of general condition I would firstly make clear that I do not know much about banjo’s other than what I have just researched concerning this particular instrument however. In my untutored opinion, I would say the condition is good. There is no noticeable damage other than: At some time somebody has marked the‘vellum’ Beneath the strings, with the letters C G B D. We’ve enlarged it a bit to show all the great detail) It’s uncut with the white background still attached. There’s also lots of advertising on the reverse. It’s in beautiful condition, especially considering it’s way over 100 years old! This rare and desirable Boston-made Fairbanks banjo is one of the few"Electric" models you're likely to find on EBay and since we're lovers of real old-fashioned auctions we're offering this fine example with no reserve so the winner will set the value. You should know that we're lifelong antique dealers but not musical instrument specialists nor musicians, so please take our description vocabulary with a grain of salt and make sure to look at the photos carefully and ask questions in a way that we can understand. We do estate liquidations every week and you never know what we'll find. Recently we found this banjo way back in a closet ... morewhere it has sat for a generation or more. We wiped off most of the dust and brought it to a guitar store to get new stings put on it. Otherwise everything is original to our knowledge or at the least old(who knows what service it received over the years) From what little info we could find on-line, it has that patented scalloped tone ring that was considered to be quite an innovation in it's day. Considering this instrument was made in the 1800's the name"Electric" is quite a hoot. obviously a homage to the fact that for it's day it was considered to be quite innovative and modern since electricity was just replacing gas and steam power during that time. From what little else we could learn about this banjo it appears unusual that it uses ivory friction-type pegs rather than geared tuning pegs. We don't know if this makes it early or unusual but it seems so to us and we're sure one of you will tell us. Note that at least a few of these pegs have been replaced over time and we're not certain that any or all are ivory or some other similar material. There are subtle signs of quality everywere. There are some minor dents in the large brass pan. Fairbanks is engraved on the brass arm. This US A based Company began in 1830 in Vermont. The base is in a fishtail or crowsfoot design. SUPER RARE ANTIQUE FAIRBANKS SCALE BEST HAND PAINTED DETAILS ON EBAY MUST SEE!
Here's your chance to get your hands on a super rare Fairbanks scale. In my opinion this scale has the best hand painted details that you will find on Ebay. The colors are great and most of the hand painted details are 95% there. The quality of the calligraphy is beyond most of the stuff you see these days. It has the Fairbanks name cast in a wavy banner flag design. I believe it goes up to approximately 10 ounces or so. It is fully functional and in great as found condition. I have not cleaned the scale other than a light dusting. I will leave that to the new owner. I am open to serious offers. Thanks for looking! Please check out my other items.

The Large Whiskey was likely Blown at the Lyndeboro/Lyndeborough Glass Factory in New Hampshire ca1870's.also the Small Aqua Med.have dug peices/colors of both forms In my years of Collecting and research I have seen one of these exact bottles in a private collection with"Druggist" so I consider it a rare find on a large Whiskey!
