This is a extremely hard to find original Wico AX high tension magneto for a hit and miss gas engine. It is fresh out of an early collectors estate and is untested. The case looks to be pretty good with a few minor blemishes and the leadout looks to be real nice. These AX's are the big brother to the Wico EK magnetos and were a bit earlier. They were made for an extremely short period of time! They were used on some of the Novo. Hercules, Economy, and Domestic engines and possibly a few others. I believe that of the parts to rebuild them are available as they are the same as PR parts. It mounts with two holes 1 1/8 inches apart on center. If you've been looking for one here's your chance. CW rotation The good: 1: very nice points 2: condenser passes test 3: t urns but is a bit stiff(have oiled it for testing) 6: mfr tag is intact and readable The bad: 1: needs cleaning 2: distribution cap is missing 3: rotor is missing 4: doesn't produce spark 5: some rust 6: replaceable drive gear for rotor is missing 7: coil has broken lead wire. Original Brass Wico EK Magneto Hit Miss Gas Engine Steam Tractor Oiler HOT!!
This is a real nice original BRASS Wico EK magneto for a hit and miss or throttle governed gas engine. It has MANY applications in the gas engine world. It is in excellent condition for it's age with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind. The case is in nice condition and not all beat up like a lot of them that you see. A new condenser has just been installed and the magnets have just been recharged. It puts out a hot, fat, blue spark that is sure to run your engine if it is set up properly. This magneto has the STOP button on the front cover which is a nice feature to shut your engine off instead of messing with the needle valve. The roller pin in the bottom of the armature clevis has been replaced with a cotter pin and should be replaced before using the magneto. These magnetos are tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets ... moreand usually require several hundred dollars worth of repair work. Don't miss your chance on this one. It would even make a great spare on the shelf. It's pretty crispy and the pictures tell the story. I've had several of these over the years and this is one of the nicer ones I've had. WICO 184B Series "C" 4 cylinder magneto
This WICO Series"C" 184B mag has been on our shop shelf since before I was born and I am 64. I have no idea what it is off of except the box it was in is labeled Fairbanks-Morse, FM-X4A11, CW rotation, 35 degree Lag Angle. I do not know if the WICO was replaced with the Fairbanks-Morse or if was just in the box. The corner on the mount got broke(not all the way) when it slid out of the box when I picked it up. Everything appears to be in tact inside and the cap looks fine. All I have done is wipe the dirt off and do a visual inspection. Sells As Is! It has the original Wico name plate with no. 501956 and lots of patent dates. These magnetos were used on many different types of engines. This particular one came off a 4hp C8 Cushman Binder Engine. Up for auction is a Used Wico magneto for a vintage Hit and Miss gasoline engine. This mag has spark and is in good shape. It has a few small dents and scratches but overall is very nice.
