And with the spring they can be mounted and used in any position. The light spring gives them a very low cracking pressure, in other words low fuel pressure will open the valve. If you have need for even lower pressure you can simply remove the spring as show in the picture. With no spring the valve needs to be installed in a vertical position so the ball falls down to seal. VINTAGE / ANTIQUE MAYTAG MODEL 72 HIT & MISS STATIONARY ENGINE
For bid is a Maytag model 72 hit& miss engine. This engine is complete and in running condition. I worked on it last fall and got it running. Today. I put some gasoline in the tank and it started up with no problem. It runs very smooth. It was running when I took the close up pictures of the flywheel. I could not slow the shutter speed on my camera enough to show it running. There is a weld(braze) on the starter kick pedal as can be seen in a couple of the pictures. The repair was done very well, but nevertheless, it was repaired. This is an underslung type mount. There is a wrench included which is also shown in the pictures. This engine is used and is being sold as/is. Anyone in the 43402 area is welcome to contact me and inspect this engine.

1929 MAYTAG 92 HIT AND MISS ENGINE REBIULT
Totally rebuilt 1929 Maytag 92 hit and miss gas engine. I sandblasted all parts cleaned them and painted them with hammered finish paint. The mag was re charged new crank bushings.Cylinder was honed and new rings installed. New plug wire and plug. Gasket set and rebuilt carb Decals come with it but you will have to set them.This is a great running engine and fun to watch. I ran this engine for about 3 min and was fine. A 16to1 oil gas mix to break it in was used. I was told to drop to 20 to 1 after that. Will be bolted to the stand and a wooden crate built to it for shipping. Thanks and good luck

MAYTAG FRUITJAR HIT AND MISS GAS ENGINE RESTORED GREAT RUNNER 72
Here is a MAYTAG FRUITJAR engine. It was restored for the previous owner and I put a rebuilt(by Zack Northway) carburetor on it. It runs like a top. We only fill the fuel tank into the iron base. Not in the jar. There is a crack in the aluminum lid and there is no gasket so the jar will not hold gas, it could have been fixed, but who's crazy enough to put gas in the"factory made molotov cocktail? It has fantastic spark and compression and with a good hand has been flipped to start. We use a pull rope though. Two people said they thought it was an original. More than that though have said it is a reproduction. It is being sold as a reproduction! The serial number is 108738, which is in the proper range. Extremely Rare Unique Nelson Brothers Stationary Hit Miss Engine Not Maytag
This in an extremely rare example of an early overhead valve. Push rod actuated hit and miss engine built by Nelson Brothers. Overhead valves were a fairly high tech system when this engine was built, and were typically only seen on motorcycles, airplanes and the occasional car. The engine turns just fine, not locked up, and seems to create decent compression. The carburetor looks to be complete and intact, but a piece of fuel line that leads into it seems to be missing, It is also missing the oil fill cap, but these things should not be difficult to find/replace. I believe it is four stroke, but I am not sure, it seems to have some rather complicated plumbing that I do not fully understand, as I work with Briggs and Stratton engines more commonly. The carb looks great the gov arm isn't broke I turned it over and got a nice jolt I was tole it ran but I didn't run it my self. It will need a fuel tank but I think that is all it is missing. ANTIQUE 1937 MAYTAG RESTORED VINTAGE GAS ENGINE HIT AND MISS WRINGER WASHER
Last year I had sold just about all of my Maytag engines off ebay. Up for sale is a very nice Maytag Model 72 long frame Antique hit miss Gas Engine. The flywheel has serial# 816216 stamped on it which was in production 1937. I have been restoring these engines for over 12 years now and I sell a lot of them. I also used to restore Maytag ringer washers and put Maytag motor's on themas well. This engine was completely taken apart and sand blasted and bead blasted clean and painted with DuPont paint. I take a lot of pride in these motors and I like to do a little extra detailing like the lettering and some of the numbers as you can see in the pictures. I think it makes the motor's stand out better. Lots of people like to take the same pictures as I do and try to confuse the buyer. I don't like the way they do things but I have no ... morecontrol of that. But I put my own trade mark on my engines then I know it is on that I restored proper. It has new rings, condenser, spark plug wire with new ends, new spark plugs. I also honed out the Cylinder jugs. This engine has been restored and freshly painted and the tank and top plate was sealed so it will not rust again. I did have pictures of tank and top plate after they were seal but could not find them so I put a picture of the last 72 tank so you can see what it will look like. I do not paint the flywheels like some people. After putting it all back together I ran 1 tank of fuel through it and it runs just fine. Detailing with the correct decals finished it. I cannot put a warranty on these motors do to the age of them BUT I will guarantee it will run great for you when you get it and keep running well. I have sold a lot of motors and washers and never had a complaint yet. All it needs now is fuel and you can start it with your hand, it is that easy to start. The kick peddle will be unbolted while in shipping so you would have to bolt it back on. The buyer agrees to pay an extra $35.00 packing fee.
