1926 John Deere 6 HP Model E Hit Miss Gas Engine
This listing is for a 1926 John Deere 6 HP Model E His Miss Gas Engine. The serial number is 260923. 1926 was the first year for the John Deere Model E 6 HP engine. The following repairs have been done to this engine: block was bored and sleeved back to the original 6" bore; new intake and exhaust valves. The guides where sleeved and the valve seats reworked; new valve springs where installed; new main bearings installed; new points installed in igniter. Also had a new spring installed; new brushes installed in magneto; new fuel line and check valve installed; new needle and seat installed in carburetor; the original steel fuel tank was resealed and reinstalled; new camshaft and governor bushings installed; new piston rings installed; new oil pan installed; new decals from K& K; engine was then repainted. Do have all receipts for ... morerepair work done and all parts purchased for this engine. There are no welds or cracks on the engine block or head. This engine does start and run on the magneto that is installed. This engine is mounted on the original skid that came with this engine. Original 1 1/2hp BRASS TAG JOHN DEERE Type E Hit Miss Gas Engine Steam Magneto
This is a pretty nice original barn fresh 1 1/2hp John Deere Type E hit and miss gas engine. It is the early brass tag version and has the original serial tag and correct side cover on it. It is unmolested as can be seen. It has some original paint on it and I think there's more to be found under the grease. It turns over nicely and the exhaust valve is stuck open. There are no cracks. Breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of except for POSSIBLY a crack in the bottom of the water jacket. It's very hard to tell and it isn't pushed out. It doesn't leak and if in fact it is a crack has probably rusted shut over time. It's very hard to notice. The engine has the factory cast iron belt pulley and muffler on it. The original gas tank looks to be in great shape as well. This should be a pretty straightforward project and ... morewill be a very respectable original engine when it's done. These original brass tag John Deere's don't turn up very often so don't miss it. I can deliver this engine for free to Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, later this year. I can also ship it quite reasonably through Fastenal. It can stay here as long as needed as long as it's paid for and I accept many forms of payment. Original 1 1/2hp JOHN DEERE Type E Hit Miss Gas Engine Steam Tractor Magneto WOW
This is a real nice original barn fresh 1 1/2hp John Deere Type E hit and miss gas engine. It is unmolested as can be seen. It has a good amount of original paint on it and quite a bit more to be found under the grease. It turns over nicely with very little wear anywhere. There is even original paint on the ignitor trip finger. There are no cracks. Breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of except for a fresh break on the rocker arm because the exhaust valve is stuck. This will be an easy repair of reproductions are also available. A 1922 John Deere Waterloo Boy 3HP Model H Hit & Miss Old Gas E Engine D B
This relatively late John Deere produced 3 HP Model H Waterloo Boy gasoline engine has a serial number of 228.881. Both of the fragile original brass tags are in very nice original condition. According to the site this engine was built in 1922 with production ending in 1923 when John Deere introduced the Model E 1-1/2. 3 and 6 HP gasoline engines. This engine is stuck and is missing the mixer. Igniter, fuel tank, governor cover, connecting rod guard, intake valve spring and cylinder drip oiler. As is often the case, someone a long time ago substituted a spark plug for the original ignition system. This engine is worthy of a restoration so any help in locating these missing parts would be greatly appreciated. The speed control lever still moves but everything else seems to be seized up. The cylinder head has been frozen and broken and arc ... morewelded with nickel rod. The cylinder water jacket and water hopper appear to be fine with no cracks or welds. The very fragile and often broken original rocker arm is fine. The pivot for the rocker arm is broken but both of the pieces are present. One piece is still bolted to the cylinder head while the outer part is attached to the original rocker arm. I have looked very carefully at both flywheels and am very confident that neither one have any cracks in them anywhere. Someone drilled and tapped a pair of holes in the back of the top of the water hopper to attach a pair of strap iron pieces that may have held a gas tank at one time. These straps also attached to the back of the engine base where the connecting rod cover originally attached. I removed the straps because I am sure they are not original to this engine but they are included if the new owner wants them. This engine still has traces of it's original John Deere paint intact and appears to never have been repainted. If you collect John Deere tractors or engines. This is a VERY hard to find original dealer sales manual or full line product catalog from John Deere. It is catalog#4 from 1924 and is in good condition for it's age with very minor wear. Soiling, and some very slight water damage(mostly to the cover.the pages are very good with minor staining) It measures about 8 x 11 and has 260 pages. It shows everything that John Deere offered in the agricultural line for this time including the Waterloo Boy tractor, Type E engines, and also Waterloo engines. It shows plows, planters harrows, grain and corn binders, corn shellers, hay presses, the Dain corn cutter, cement mixers, beet tools, cultivators, elevators, wagons and trucks, rakes, hay loaders, mills, grinders, potatoe equipment, and the list just doesn't end. You will be hard pressed to find one any greaser than this one. A true barn find. This 1928 John Deere 1.5 hp. model E. starts and runs well on the magneto with good compression. I have found no damage or repairs to the engine or to what I believe to be the original cart. Only down side other than the dirt and grease. Is oil in the gas so it will need at least a new pan gasket and possibly a new pan. The gas tank appears to be solid. Clean it up or leave it dirty the choice is yours. Here is my old John Deere hit and miss stationary engine. It sat inside a huge old building full of antique equipment for decades. Out in the desert. I replaced the gas tank last week with a new one. For purposes of filming the video. I removed the crank case cover, and the timing gear cover so you can view the internals operating. Originally you would have oil in the crankcase, and a little fan blade inside splashes the oil all over to lubricate the engine. That tends to make a mess after a days running out in the field. When we run these to display them. We pack the bearings with heavy grease, they run fine and do not wear the bearings. A lot less messy! This does come assembled with all the covers. This is a stuck Model E John Deere 1 1/2 hp hit and miss engine. The serial number indicates it is a 1929. The things that are missing that I know of are: Intake valve and spring. Magneto side plate, the hand crank pin and spring and crankcase plug. I see no cracks except for the exhaust lever and I see no welds or repairs. There is a gas tank but it may need replacing. You will look a long time to find another 2" Pickering in this good of condition with no serious damage(driven pulley has two chips) and no repairs. Valve throw adjuster works as does the valve tension device. And what looks like some sort of override also functions as it should. The horizontal shaft/bushing is showing some wear mainly on the out board end no doubt in the direction of the drive belt tension(wear is mostly horizontal) This old beauty spins easily by hand and the spring are good. Plenty of grease and grime but I do believe this one could be pressed back into service if the need is there. I personally have never seen one this complete or damage free. Good old farm implement speed wrench. Hand crank used for mounting and adjusting farm equipment. The remnants of paint suggest IH Farmal but so far I have not found any logos or such. This one is in fair useable condition or it would look great hanging on the wall. Small end is 1 1/16" large end is 1 3/8" and has small crack in the end and it just over 36" long. Handle has a slight bend to it that could be straightened if you find it necessary and of course missing paint. Rust and dust. This antique engine crank ships to the lower 48 States only. John Deere 1 1/2 Hp Model E hit and miss engine can ship fastenal at buyers cost
I have to relist this engine due to the non payment by the buyer. They bid on it and a hour later sent email saying I can't buy this engine I have no money. Good running John Deere E 1 1/2 hp engine for sale. It has very good compression 3 turns and it fires right up. Has very good magneto also has rebuilt igniter. All new gaskets and we have had this engine a long time. Always used this engine for doing show's. Had it running a well pump and a corn sheller and it never let us down. But we need to sell it now. The magneto and igniter alone cost over $600.00. We have bought some big wood crate's and can ship this engine through Fastenal at buyer's expense. We will get the engine packed in the wood crate and drop it off. Buyer will be responsible for shipping cost.
