REID MODEL CASTING KIT Oil Field Hit Miss Gas Engine BURNS AND HORNER
Here is a casting kit for a Reid oil field engine by Burns and Horner. As far as I know these kits are no longer being produced. I have owned a couple of these as finished models and I can tell you they are very sought after. What you see is what you get. I think it is complete but I don't know that for sure. I do not have any plans or blue prints but I think some could be had one way or another. I think these were offered in two sizes, this is the larger one. Some of these also had an aluminum main frame this one is cast iron as you can see. This is a very hard to find casting kit. 14-1/2" diameter flywheels. Heavy 112 lbs. Maytag Model #92 1927 Hit and Miss Gas Engine Vintage
This is a 1927 Model 92 Maytag ringer washer hit and miss gas motor. It was completely redone about 7 years ago. The aluminum parts were burnished and cast was blasted and painted. The Champion spark plug was new. It has a lot of detail with quality(not broken or cracked) parts. I made the exhaust pipe for it and it makes smoke rings when it's running. This motor hasn't been started for two or three years it ran fine last time it was started and all the fuel was drained. I haven't tried to start it because it's very cold here. But I checked and it has good spark. It mounts on an oak cart that I made and has old steel wheels. This motor has a lot of detail and will be shipped in a well packed large box with wood floor. It is missing the insert for the crankshaft and the handle on the end. The crank measures 9.5 inches in length. It has 9756 T as a part number in the casting. This is a vintage Maytag Model 92 hit and miss engine. The serial number is faint but the number is 262757. Which means it was made between January 1st and March 30th, 1928. It is mostly complete. But is missing the exhaust and air intake assembly. It may be missing other things, I do not know, please see the pictures. It looks like the kick start catch broke and was welded at one point, please see the pictures. It does not turn over. When I first got the engine, it turned over smoothly and seemed to have compression. But it has since become stuck, I don't know if condensation got inside or what. I did not try to start it, and I did not measure the compression. The kick start mechanism works but will need to be lubricated. Overall a nice vintage piece. Sold as is. You are bidding on a hard to find. Model PR Wico magneto. These mags work great, better than an EK in my opinion. This one is in very nice shape, and has good spark. The lead out tower is pretty bad, but I'm including a brand new one in the sale. The only thing this mag is missing is the front cover and I'm almost sure you can buy them new from a number of suppliers. The coils look like NEW, they very well could be, it looks like this mag has been gone through in recent year, and it appears like they did a great job, I believe the man I bought it from said he sent it out and had it rebuilt, but I can't guarantee that. Head for Fairbanks Morse Model T Upright Hit Miss Gas Engine
Here is a tough to find piece. This head is for a 2 HP Fairbanks Morse upright gas engine. It is in tough condition. But should be repairable. The piece that is freeze cracked out is missing. A piece will have to be fabricated and welded back in. The old valves are stuck in the guide. There are a couple other cracks around the freeze damage and pieces broken out of the mounting holes on one side. It is a project, but is better than a non-existent head. Pretty tough piece to find in any condition. I'm listing a number of different parts and pieces for early gas engines, so please check out my other listings. This is a model 92 Maytag Engine with the“short. Deep” fuel tank. It carries a serial number of 769379 which makes it a 1937 built(approximately) in the month of February of that year. I bought this engine from Zach Northway of Flywheel Supply with intent of using it for show, but it has become obvious I am never going to be able to do that. The engine looks good and is a“prime” piece of American history. I don't see any cracks, breaks, or welds. It was checked over by Zach and he gave it sufficient run time in his shop. Old Vintage Rare Monitor Baker Windmill Company Evansville. Wisconsin Model VJ Pump Jack Hit Miss Gas Engine. Very nice old original Monitor pump jack engine found in old pump house. Has original hand crank and inside of crankcase is clean. This is the later style with an oil dip stick. Engine is not stuck, valves are all free, pump jack turns ok and clutch works. Pump jack has a clamp plate for holding pump. Has original name tag. No cracks, welds or repairs. Can be shipped to your local large town Fastenal store that has a fork lift.
