This neat 1890's to early 1900's era Educational Steam Engine Counter Display or Early Teaching Model was very nicely made of mostly painted cast-iron with nickel-plated brass. Aluminum& steel components along with a solid wood base by the Columbia School Supply Co. Indianapolis Indiana/IN/IND. founded 1895) It measures about 3-5/8 inches wide(the wooden base) by 11-1/2 inches long and is one of the hardest to find old steam engine teaching models. All parts/linkages/etc. move freely and properly including the Piston. When the Flywheel is turned you can see the sliding valve move inside of the visible Valve Chest.pretty cool! I've heard that their early models had a visible glass cylinder to let you see the Piston move inside the glass cylinder but was changed to a solid(aluminum) cylinder in later production due to glass ... morecylinder fogging/scoring& breakage problems. I bought this while on vacation in Florida. its runs great. it sets on its own stand/toolbox with 1 drawer under it it has the battery and coil in the box(sealed) Tis engine is headless meaning that the intake and exhaust valves ar in a manifold on the side of the head. it has an incomplete water jacket but it can run indefinitely and not get hot I was into this stuff until my partner in crime(my dad passed away.After that the gas engine shows just wasnt fun for me anymore this can go to somebody else, but it was 1 of my favorites I cant just give it away. a couple of hours and you will have a nice engine. set it on your table at a show and the people will swarm you good luck the flywheels are no more than 6 inches across and overall the engine is no more than 10 inches long I weighs about 20 lbs this was not a cast kit meant to look like ... moresomething else, it was machined from memory and trial and a lot of error

You are bidding on a very nice model of an Olds hit& miss engine. This model has been 95% fully machined. Only thing left to do is balance the flywheels and it will be ready to run. The man that machined this model, machined probably over 100 hit& miss models in his lifetime and was a machine shop owner his whole life, so if your worried about quality, dont be. This was the last model he was working on when he died a few years ago, that is the ONLY reason it is not finished, the family just decided to sell this engine recently. The flywheel hubs are just a touch too thick yet, so they will need to be milled in a lathe, which wont take more than a few minutes. The engine has excellent compression, all parts are machined properly, once you balance the flywheels by drilling a hole or two in the rim, and shave a pass of two off the hubs, ... moreit will be ready for paint, and then the shows! I don't have a lathe or mill, or I would certainly have done it myself. The hard stuff is completely done. Don't pass up the chance to own a very nice Olds model! Maytag model 92 engine # 442136 Manufactured May 1930 Hit Miss washing machine
Up for consideration is this Maytag 92 engine. I know very little about these motors. What I do know is that it turns over freely and will shock you if you hold the wire. I bought it from an estate. The owner was third generation on the farm and he was a 55 year old Doctor who had recently moved back to the property, he didn't even know what it was but said it had been on the property his whole life. It had a cover that goes over the kick start that looks to be missing. The gas tank smells like gas, I do believe this would run if someone knew what they were doing, Please feel free to ask any questions.

This Auction Is For Two Very Nice Old One Cylinder Engines That Were Recently Taken Out Of Service In The Oilfield& Replaced With Electric Motors! There is a Fairbanks Morse Model Number 208 that turns over& a 346 that also turns over. Both still have good compression when the flywheels are turned over by hand. They are mainly missing the magnetos. Push rods and carburetors but a couple other carburetors are included. These two engines may very possibly be in good running order. They can be safely stored where it is UP TO 6 MONTHS if need be at no additional charge but will need to be paid for within 7 days of auction's end! John Deere Hit & Miss engine, Model E, running on original Magneto
Here is my old John Deere hit and miss stationary engine. It sat inside a huge old building full of antique equipment for decades. Out in the desert. I replaced the gas tank last week with a new one. For purposes of filming the video. I removed the crank case cover, and the timing gear cover so you can view the internals operating. Originally you would have oil in the crankcase, and a little fan blade inside splashes the oil all over to lubricate the engine. That tends to make a mess after a days running out in the field. When we run these to display them. We pack the bearings with heavy grease, they run fine and do not wear the bearings. A lot less messy! This does come assembled with all the covers. When I inspected and greased the bearings. They looked great. Also, no significant wear in the cylinder bore, and the piston is nice and tight. ... moreThis engine has great compression. Here is a Briggs and Stratton engine. It is a model FH or FHI. I am not sure which. This is from an estate and I did get the original paperwork with it which is listed in another auction. It would be nice if they went together but I realize some people might not be interested in the manuals. This motor had always been on the same farm since new. It appears to me to be mostly complete. It turns over, the carb throttle is free and the pushrod/ valve opens and closes as you turn it over. It is missing some screws for the flywheel cover and the flywheel scrapes on the cover as you turn it over. Looks to me like this would be a great winter project. Someone with some know how and tinkering skills could probably get this running pretty easily. This is very heavy and somewhat large. It was last run about 15 years ago. The fluids were removed and it has been in dry storage since then. The flywheel moves very smoothly. And there is good compression. John Deere 1 1/2 Hp Model E hit and miss engine 1929 Project
This is a stuck Model E John Deere 1 1/2 hp hit and miss engine. The serial number indicates it is a 1929. The things that are missing that I know of are: Intake valve and spring. Magneto side plate, the hand crank pin and spring and crankcase plug. I see no cracks except for the exhaust lever and I see no welds or repairs. There is a gas tank but it may need replacing. This is an extremely hard to find original catalog from the Bathe Manufacturing Company in Philadelphia. PA, for their model marine and stationary steam engines, boilers, and model steam supplies. It is from 1925 and measures about 6 x 9 with 38 pages and is in excellent, lightly used condition. It is heavily illustrated with all of their engines, boilers, combination setups, and related equipment. It would be an excellent addition to your early steam or model engine library. It will likely be a long time before another one turns up and it probably won't be this nice. The pictures tell the story. You won't be disappointed in any way. Good Luck.

You are bidding a Antique Briggs& Stratton Engine Model FH. The Brass tag has 1926 on it. The Man who restored this engine had a passion for restoring Oliver Tractors. It came out of his Oliver Collection. So the color speaks for its self. Who knows this engine may have come off some Oliver Implement back in the day. This engine was restored 12 years ago and went to two tractor hit& miss shows and has been stored in a controlled environment ever since. I put fuel in it and it fired the first kick and started and ran perfect the second kick. Then started first kick everytime after. The engine has less than one hour run time since it was restored. The motor is show quality in every way. Sits on its original cast iron gas tank and mounted on a solid oak plank. This motor and crate weighs 100 pounds. The crate I have built to ship it ... morein measures 23 1/2"X 23 1/2"X 14 1/2" You can use these measurements and weight to calculate shipping from zip code 64855 to yours. The oak plank will be screwed to bottom of crate from the bottom. Engine will also be wrapped in bubble wrap. I removed the kick start for shipping. Probaly needs to go UPS. Maytag Model #92 Hit and Miss Gas Engine Muffler Exhaust System
This is for the Maytag model#92 gas engine muffler exhaust system pictured. I have added 9 pictures total which will show the measurements. I think this may be an original exhaust system for a Maytag model#92 gas engine but I am not exactly sure. It measures a little over 8' long. There is rust. Grease, and grime but everything looks to be in good physical condition with no breaks. The only thing I was able to find was where the hose enters the connector it looks expanded out. It may need to be redone on that end or it may be fine just the way it is. I don't know for sure. This can be seen in the 7th picture.
