Single Antique Cast Iron Hit Miss Engine Cart Wheel, 6 1/8", old vintage factory
Here is a heavy antique cast iron wheel. This is a single wheel that is 6 1/8 inches in diameter. The axel hole is 3/8 inches in diameter. The tread is 1 3/8 inches across. This wheel has a rustic look that makes it a great addition to a collection of wheels decorating your home or garden. It would also be useful if you were trying to gather a set for your hit& miss engine cart. Industrial style coffee table, or other project. There is rust on the tread and wheel. There are spots of roughness and chips around the edge of the tread. Old cast iron wheels are reasonably priced way to add great visual interest to your loft or rustic house.

Here is a very nice set of some early Hit miss motor carts. I am not sure what they are off but i do have some numbers etc that are on the wheels.The Letters and numbers are on the hub and they say F& H and HA and 914 The diameter of the wheel is 12 1/4 inches and they are 3 inch wide. They have 4 spokes and are in very nice shape. If you know what engine these come off please tell me so i can add it to my post cause i am unsure myself. Wheels. Bolsters and wheel locks or dust covers all from an original engine cart. I bought this cart needing a good front bolster and this is what is left. The 2 matching rear wheels are in a seperate auction. The wheels are 8" x 3" and all parts are for a 1 1/4" pipe axle. The bolsters are part# P159 and I do not know what engine originated on this cart. There are 6 wheel locks. The cart had 2 for each rear wheel and 1 each on the front as bolster was inside axle width on front. 1 lock is chipped but wont affect function. Hit Miss Gas Engine 1 1/2 - 3 hp Fairbanks and Morse cart
Here is what was a 3 hp cart. It used the angle iron rails. One rail has been cut off. So I am placing the 1 1/2 hp pressed steel frame with this, to make it more appealing. If using this tin frame, the front bolster riser, the pressed steel support) would be too wide for the tin frame. One would have to find on for this application, or bend this one to work, or replace the one cut off angle iron and use it as a 3 hp, and have the pressed tin frame for a spare. The tin frame is in good enough condition. I see no major flaws. There are no washers with this cart. It does have a handle that needs a little attention. The wheels are ok. I am going to work on this a little. And take some more pictures. Only one rear bolster sells, and I plan to remove the hitch pin thing. I do not accept offers as a general rule. This is a very nice original John Deere Type E 3 Horsepower Statinary Hit& Miss Gas Engine from a local collection. The engine was cosmetically restored when the owner purchased it. But he doesnt know what work was done to it internally. We believe every part to be original to the engine and it turns over fine and has good compression. We dont see any chips, cracks, or repairs and the engine seems to be in great original condition. According to the Serial Number 311215 it was manufactured in 1930. Original Hercules 5 or 7 HP Hit Miss Gas Engine Truck Cart Stationary Antique
Old Hercules Hit& Miss Gas Engine Steel Wheeled Engine Truck. This set is for the 5 or 7 HP engine. Steel wheels are 24" Dia. Front. 32" Dia. rear, both with 4" faces. Steel channels are 7' long. No visible cracks, welds or other repairs. Last photo is old catalog print showing an Hercules Portable. Truck would work for any large stationary engine around the same size. See Photos! Auction is for one Hercules truck. The cart is for pickup only here in North Central Kansas, I don't have a tractor or any means to load it, but I can help take apart and load in the back of a pickup, as this is how I moved it. I replaced the rear axle bolts with correct square headed bolts, as the original ones were rusted out and bent. The bar axle is 28 inches long and I planned to shorten it a bit. The front caster is 4 inches in dia and I left the strap on it so you could weld to a frame of your own design. weight is about 28 lbs. I am selling the motor for a friend and he said it ran great when it was put into storage a few years ago and shouldn't take much to get it running again. 1 1/2 HP John Deere Hit and Miss Engine on Original Factory Cart
Up for sale is a nice little 1 1/2 HP John Deere hit and miss gas engine. This is a nice complete engine on the original factory cart. The original factory Deere carts are even rarer than the engines! I've sold these carts for $600-$700 before. But this one is in excellent condition and goes with the engine. The serial number is 319964 making it a 1930 model. I don't see any missing or broken pieces on this engine. No repairs that I can see. I also looked and didn't see any freeze cracks. That all being said, this engine is 83 years old and has to be sold as it due to the age. I turned it back and forth a little bit and the engine seems to be nice and smooth and tight(no knocks) but I didn't want to turn it over before the magneto and rocker arm/valves are loosened and oiled. I took this engine out of a shed where it had been ... moresitting for probably 40 years. It is a nice original barn fresh engine that would make an excellent project for someone. It shouldn't take a lot of work to have it up and going. The fuel tank even looks really good from the outside. About the only thing I can see that is worn is the pulley. It has some holes in it from having a belt wrapped around it and being wet, but it shouldn't hurt anything for just being a show piece. We have here a Galloway 6 HP Hit and Miss Engine. Looking at pics of others I think its a Masterpiece 6.Has been in inside storage for decades. I have not tried(or know how to) start it. The gentleman I bought it from said he can remember his dad running it when he was young. I have not cleaned it at all. It does turn over easily and looks complete less the cylinder oiler.It has the webster tri-polar magneto. The fuel tank has been changed. It is on trucks but I doubt it is a factory original. The front wheels have dried concrete on them so it probably ran a mixer. Took plenty of pics to show the good condition. If you have any questions I will try to answer as best I can. 4 Antique cast iron curved spoke wheels 5", 5/8" bore hit miss engine cart scale
This is a matching set of 4 cast iron wheels. Each is marked"PA13" They are 5" in diameter with a 1- 7/16" tread. 1- 1/2" hub and a 5/8" bore. We gave these a quick cleaning with a wire brush to remove the loose dirt and rust, but they still have a little rust on them and a little old paint. There are 5 photos where the wheels are stacked. We rotated the stack counter-clockwise about 70 degrees for each successive photo so the sequence shows the entire rims. Some areas of the rims are more heavily rusted(less smooth) than others. Also, one wheel has a couple of minor rim chips(see final photo) Despite the flaws. This is a nice set of wheels.
