The tin speed control lever is broken off/missing which wouldn’t be a major deal to replace. Gears look good. All moving parts seem to move and are not stuck. Considering the age of this setup I really don’t see any major wear. The 2 mounting holes on the bracket measure about 3 1/2” apart on center. See pictures for the absolute best description. Engine Service Manual-Diesel Electric Locomotives- Fairbanks Morse, 1947
This is a service manual more than 65 years old. Which has seen more than 30 years of hard service. It is an 8 by 11 inch loose leaf manual with a soft cover. It is 160 pages of paper which is made of a heavy stock. In fact most of the pages, except for some greasy fingerprints, seem almost brand new. The binding is intact. There are no loose pages. The covers are worn and frayed around the edges but there are no major tears. It is readable, usable, and a must have volume for anyone wishing to tear down and rebuild a vintage diesel locomotive of this make. Many of the illustrations are in color, and a large number of them fold out, as can be seen in some of the photos.

Are untested and would be good for parts or rebuild?Not for sure of the applications? No cracks or repairs on mag! Turns over freely! I bought over 30 magnetos at an estate sale of a guy who use to work on them. He even had a super cool magneto tester to check them. I know several of the magnetos are in working condition, but do not know which ones, that might have said they work good on them, but I can not test them, so I'm listing them as untested or not working! Old FAIRBANKS MORSE Z Headless Hit Miss Gas Engine Cart Steam Tractor Ignitor
This is a nice old 1 1/2 horsepower Fairbanks Morse headless Z gas engine. It is a true hit and miss gas engine. It turns over nicely and has great compression even though it hasn't run for a few years. It has the original crank guard which is almost always missing. Each of the mounting ears on the crank guard has a very well done old repair on them and they work the way they should. It has an authentic reproduction gas tank and muffler on it. There are no cracks. Breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of. It is missing the fuel line which would be pretty easy to make or can be obtained from several of the hobby suppliers. It is ignitor fired and can be run with a battery and low tension coil. It shouldn't take much work at all to make noise with it! It is on the original cart that it left the factory on and the cart is in excellent ... morecondition as well. All in all this is a pretty nice package with a true hit and miss engine with an open crankcase and on the original cart. I can deliver this engine for free to LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA next year. I can also ship it quite reasonably through Fastenal. Antique Fairbanks Morse Z 10HP? Impulse Hit&Miss Magneto Old Gas Engine Mag Hot!
Very nice original Fairbanks Morse model"R" magneto in excellent condition complete with impulse and gear. The gear has 35 teeth and the teeth are in very good condition. The gear is about 3 11/16 inches in diameter. Also the gear has an impulse and trip on the backside of it which works very well. This magneto came on several different models of Fairbanks Morse model"Z" engines. I believe this magneto came on the 10 horse power"Z" I'm sure that if you wanted to remove the gear it could be replaced to fit all of the other model"Z's" The magneto is in exceptionally nice shape. The pot metal housing and end cover are very nice with no age cracking. The bearings are tight with no play. It has very good spark just turning it by hand. Everything works and moves as it should. This is a rather tough to find original governor for a larger Fairbanks and Morse Z gas engine. I believe it fits on the 10 and 15hp spark plug fired engines but please do your homework to be sure it fits your application. It is in excellent condition with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind. There is very little noticeable wear anywhere on the gear or on the shafts or pins. It mounts with two holes 5 1/4 inches apart on center. It has the throttle arm on it it is ready to go to work on an engine or it would also make a great spare on the shelf. These are getting harder to find every day! The pictures tell the story. Old Fairbanks Morse FMJ Allis Chalmers Tractor Magneto Hit Miss Gas Engine HOT!!
This is a real nice original Fairbanks Morse Type J four cylinder magneto for an antique tractor. These were used on Allis Chalmers tractors as well as many others. It is an FM J4B3A and is in excellent condition and puts out a HOT. Fat, blue spark that is sure to run your engine if it is set up properly. It is a flange mount magneto. The magneto is clockwise rotation and the impulse works perfectly. The leadout towers are in excellent condition. The only flaw that I've noted is a slight crack in the cap which doesn't really affect it's performance but needed to be noted. If you have a dead magneto with a good cap this would be an excellent replacement but it works fine just the way it is. These magnetos are extremely tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets and they usually require several hundred dollars to rebuild. This ... moreone really doesn't need anything. As you can see it is only good for parts. Although it turns and the gear mechanism snaps somewhat. This should be a parts donor or a base for a rebuilder. look it over. Wisconsin Teledyne AENG engine Fairbanks Morse 107 Y Magneto
here is a Fairbanks Morse magneto type Y 107 B. As you can see. It is meant as a parts donor or for a rebuilder. I believe the numbers cross reference to a Wisconsin AENG engine. But please do your own checking. The gear has 33 straight teeth. Magneto turns freely and the snapping mechanism is still strong. I have not tested the coil. This is an AB-34 AMERICAN BOSCH magneto. The mag is stuck. The case the has a chip at the top but doesn't affect the integrity. The bakelite leadout tower is pretty much gone too. Would make a good parts mag or it could be loosened up and repaired. This came off a 3 hp Fairbanks MORSE.

Old Headless FAIRBANKS MORSE Z Hit Miss Gas Engine Magneto Gear Steam Ignitor
Here is a real nice original cast iron magneto gear for a Headless Fairbanks Morse gas engine. It is part number DJ 142 and measures about 3 3/16 inches in diameter with a 1/2 inch face. It has a 3/8 inch hole for the magneto armature shaft and the keyway is in great shape. It has 30 teeth and they are in great shape. They have very little noticeable wear if any at all. This gear has no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind and is ready to be put to work on an engine. The gear you receive may not be the one in the photos but it is just as nice as it as I have several of these. These originals are getting pretty tough to find. Don't miss it. Good Luck.

This is a very hard to find original cast iron starting crank for a 6hp Fairbanks Morse Z gas engine. It is in perfect condition with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind. It fits a 2 1/4 inch crankshaft and would certainly work on any engine that it fits on but it came from the factory with a Fairbanks Morse engine. The clutch that grabs the keyway is in great shape and the spring works perfectly. This crank is ready to go to work starting an engine! This is a VERY hard to find original dealer sales manual or full line product catalog from Fairbanks Morse. It is catalog#60 from 1908 and is in good condition for it's age with very minor wear. And soiling. Page 2 is loose but is there. It measures about 6 1/4 x 9 inches and has 656 pages! It shows everything that Fairbanks Morse offered for this time including their N and T engines in all types of configurations and setups. It also has windmills, railroad equipment, scales, dynamos, motors, steam engines, boilers, pumps, clutch pulleys, compressors, mining machinery, rock drills, and the list just doesn't end. It is HEAVILY illustrated with great detailed photos and would be a great reference piece for the Fairbanks Morse or early machinery collector. Rare Fairbanks Morse Jack Of All Trades Hit And Miss Antique Gas Engine Cart
A very hard to find antique stationary gas engine cart or wagon. Cart has about 12 inch wheels with 21/2 inch face and are cast iron as shown in pictures. All castings are original and I could not find any cracks breaks or welds. Top wood is not correct but the back bolster is and still has some original red paint and looks in good shape. Wheels have some green paint. Wheels do have rust but all look good original. This cart should fit the Jack Junior engine.The smaller verticals type T engines and the 2 and 4 hp type H stationary motor. These carts are very scarce buyer can pick up or can ship via Fastenal. It was used on the Fairbanks Morse ZD and some of the Z engines and could probably be used on several others. It mounts with two holes 3 3/4 inches apart on center. This magneto is stuck and doesn't turn but the pot metal case and distributor cap seems to be in great condition. The back cover has some wear on it but should work fine the way it is. I'm sure with a little elbow grease this could be a nice working mag. These magnetos don't turn up very often and usually the pot metal is in very poor condition. This rebuilt Fairbanks Morse XD1B7R single cylinder magneto would bear the Wisconsin part number Y-107. According to my dealer manual. It fits the AGND. It includes the driven gear for that engine. This magneto is ready to be bolted on. The magneto throws a nice hot spark. The cap is in very good shape with no cracks. I call my magneto rebuilds"refurbished" magnetos. I check these magnetos over completely top to bottom. Everything comes out and everything goes back in only if it matches the specifications. Old FAIRBANKS MORSE ZD Hit Miss Gas Engine Magneto Gear Steam Tractor Oiler NICE
Here is a real nice original diecast magneto gear for a Fairbanks Morse ZD gas engine. It measures about 4 1/2 inches in diameter with a 1/2 inch face. It is 1 1/8 inches long through the hub and has a 3/8 inch tapered hole for the magneto armature shaft and the keyway is in great shape. It has 43 teeth and they are in great shape with very minor wear. This gear has no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind and is ready to be put to work on an engine. These originals are getting pretty tough to find so if you need one to complete a restoration here's your chance. Don't miss it. Good Luck.

RARE FAIRBANKS MORSE HIT AND MISS ENGINE BLOWTORCH
Rare Fairbanks Morse Hit and Miss Engine Blowtorch– This heavy. Quart-size blowtorch was manufactured by the Fairbanks Morse Co. of Chicago, Illinois. The torch has a welded steel tank, steel pump assembly, cast iron drip cup, sheet iron burner windshield, and massive bronze burner. These blowtorches with their vertically-oriented burners were designed to heat the glow bulbs on early stationary engines prior to the incorporation of the spark plug. I have never seen one of these Fairbanks torches with its windshield in place. With its windshield, I think this torch is especially rare. The tank measures 4 1/2 inches in diameter and is almost 5 1/2 inches in height. Total height of the torch is 13 1/2 inches. The marking“YF1214A” Cast into the bottom of the drip cup(see photo#9) is believed to be a part number as this same drip cup is seen on ... moreother Fairbanks torches. The lower left side of the burner is marked“YF1209A” see photo#10) and the left side of the“U-shaped” burner jet is marked“YF1210A” see photo#11) both believed to be Fairbanks part numbers. The applied label soldered to the front of the tank(see photo#12) reads“CAUTION DO NOT USE GASOLINE” and“FAIRBANKS MORSE& CO. As the photos show. The torch has been thoroughly reconditioned and is in excellent condition. The“T-shaped” pressure shutoff/pressure relief valve is free and operable and the pump builds pressure in the tank. Old 3hp FAIRBANKS MORSE Z Hit Miss Gas Engine Motor Ignitor Steam Tractor Oiler
This is a pretty nice old 3hp Fairbanks Morse Z gas engine. It is a throttle governed engine. It turns over nicely and has decent compression even though it hasn't run for a few years. There are no cracks. Breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of other than a vinyl connecting rod bearing. It might work with this bearing or they are available rather inexpensively from some of the hobby suppliers. It has a good gas tank under it. The engine is an earlier Z model as it has the Sumter Plugoscillator ignition setup on it. It will need a magneto and a trip finger to run. Everything is loose and seems to move as it should. It does have some wear on some of the moving parts but most things do when they're close to 100 years old! I think this engine was in the process of being restored and never got finished. It has a reproduction muffler ... moreon it and will need the fuel plumbing finished. It has the original larger brass serial tag on the front of the hopper. The head doesn't seem to ever have been broken or repaired which is somewhat of a rarity for these engines. It has an older paint job in the correct green color and although it has some wear and chips here and there still displays pretty nicely. I can deliver this engine for free to LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, next year. I can also ship it quite reasonably through Fastenal. Fairbanks Morse FM Magneto VH4D Wisconsin engine and others - REDUCED
Fairbanks Morse Magneto Wisconsin engine VH4D and others in super condition. REDUCED FROM $395.00 Magneto is guaranteed operable. Has been once serviced by magneto professional and will fire up any 4 cylinder engine for which this FM-XZE4B7 model is designed. This magneto will operate without further attention other than installing four spark plug connectors. Magnetos of this vintage are very seldom in as pristine condition as you see here. This magneto has been kept protected in a closed box on a shelve inside a warm and dry dust free environment for most of it's life. The vent caps. Two on each side of the body have been removed to illustrate the immaculate condition of the copper and screen filters, then the four vent caps were reinstalled. Rotating the gear clockwise(looking from the gear side) as the impulse activates produces a ... moremarvelous" jaw dropping shock" while holding onto the ignition lead with ones other hand. The two mounting holes measure about 4" center to center with an elongated rotation adjustment on the lower hole. I counted 27 teeth from its timing mark around the circumference of the gear. The gear is pristine and held in place with a cottered nut. The four shielded plug leads are approximately 2 feet. More or less in length. The Magneto body itself is about 9 inches long by 6 inches tall and 4 inches thick in width. Note: magneto is equipped with aircraft style screw-on positive contact(spring loaded) sparkplug connectors which could designate as conforming to government or aircraft ground unit military spec. Please see cutaway chart part listing on last photo for interior detail This Fairbanks-Morse Model FM XZE 4B7 Serial Number is#4490988 and will operate the ignition for several of the 4 cylinder engines for which it was designed. Original FAIRBANKS MORSE Z Hit Miss Gas Engine Cart Truck Wagon Steel Wheels WOW
This is a rather hard to find original cart for a Fairbanks Morse Z gas engine. It was used under the 3hp Z but would look good under any engine 1 1/2 to 3hp in size. It has the original handle on the front axle. It is ready to put to use under an engine! The wheels measure 12 inches in diameter with a 2 inch face. It is in great condition with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind and with the exception of one of the wheels having some very nice welding around the rim end of the spokes. I've owned this cart for a long time and never even noticed this. It's extremely well done and very hard to notice. There are also a few nails used as cotter pins to keep the wheels in place but these would be easy enough to replace. Factory carts like these are pretty hard to find in the wild or even at swap meets so don't miss your chance ... moreon it. It would certainly make moving your engine around easier! I can deliver for free to LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, next year. It can stay here as long as needed as long as it's paid for. You are bidding on a very nice cart for a 1 1/2hp Fairbanks Z engine. This cart is correct for dishpans. As well as the spoked flywheel Z's 1 1/2hp and 2hp. This cart is not factory made. I very knowledgable welder and machinist built this cart from scratch to an exact copy of an original cart. When I bought this cart with an engine on it, it took me a few weeks before I even noticed it wasn't factory made. He went to alot of trouble to make it, he rolled the wheels, made the spokes, bolsters, swivel in the front, the pull handle, etc. All welds look flawless, take a look at the pictures and you will agree. This would look great under any engine, your not buying somebodys afternoon project, this took time and skill to make, and make right.
