Vintage G.B. Essex Brass Co. Oiler LOT DETAILS A vintage engine oiler made by the G.B. Essex Brass Co. Detroit. Mich. It measures approx. 4.3/8" long. The cylinder has a diameter of 2.1/8" T he glass is smaller then the brass fitting. There's a gap between them which can be seen in the last two pictures. The glass is di rty on the inside. T he brass is scratched up and worn and it's a little bent out of shape. Take a look at the pictures to get a good idea of what the oiler looks like and the condition. Swift Lubricator Co. This oiler was pataneted on mar.21.1882 by the Swift Lubricator Co. in elmira N.Y. Condition description All the brass is good with no cracks and the wood is not cracked either. Everything turns on it and the inside still has oil in it. I would say you could put it on your engine as soon as you get it. When cleaned up with the buffer. If you decide to do so, I would say it would be a 10 out of 10 oiler.

The two inner tubes are cracked at the threads as seen in one picture. The glass tub has a bruise on the top as seen in one picture. But no crack in the glass.

The glass is dirty from use as you can see in the photo. But I was also trying to the beautiful ripples in the old glass, which didn't come through in the shot. This is a great vintage hit miss oiler engine part with extras. The oiler was made by Michigan Lubricator Company out of Detroit Michigan. Next to that mark is"124642" which I assume to be a part number. The oiler has a top piece that includes a circular wood handle. Below the oiler body there is an additional part that includes two glass"portals" Neither the glass on this bottom piece or the glass body of the oiler has any cracks or damage to it. There is also a on/off spigot piece near the bottom. The photos show what I am trying to describe. The oiler measures about 3&1/4" in diameter and about 2&1/2" tall. The whole piece measures about 8&1/4" tall. This is a great industrial piece and is in very good condition. Here I go again with another offering from my multi-generational farm estate that is for one of the largest oilers for a hit miss engine that is a FULL QUART drip oiler for a hit and miss engine made by the Michigan Lubricator co of Detroit Mich. It measures 13" high by 6 1/2" wide and is 4" deep or diameter. It is all brass and signed by the maker and also Ohio Brass who supplied the brass for the making of piece. As you can see from the pictures the glass tubes are out on both sides but I understand these are not hard to replace amonst the people who know hit and miss engines. Its a gran-daddy and I have never seen one this big which leads me to believe it was to a larger commercial or heavy engine. Two Drip Oilers Nathan Mfg. Co & Detroit Lubricator Co. Hit & Miss Engines
We have for bids two hit and miss engine oilers that someone has screwed them onto blocks of walnut for desk adornments. They have just used the threaded part on the bottom of the oilers to screw into a hole in the block of wood. The large one is made by Detroit Lubricator Co. and there is a number either 601 or 607. The number is under the oil fill hole and the cover hides part of it. The spring mechanism is working fine. It measures 4 inches to the top of the lever The smaller is Nathan Mfg. Co. New York. It measure 2 3/4 inches to the top. The spring is not working on this but you can see inside the glass that there is a lever and the spring is there. The glass is good on both of these. I have tried to take pictures so that you can see these better than I can describe them. Happy Bidding.

Antique Brass Detroit Michigan Lubricator Co Oiler Hit Miss Gas Engine Vtg Tool Up for bids is an old brass oiler. This item is in very good condition. With no breaks or repairs. The top is clearly stamped: Michigan Lubricator Co; Detroit. Mich" With number 48A32B. The top sight glass has a small curved hairline crack, but is solid. The bottom sight has no problems. Everything seems to be working as it should, but could probably use new gaskets. The fill cap is missing, and previous owner has a cork in its place. The bottom threads are 1/2" diameter, and appear to have no damage. This small oiler will be a welcome addition to your project. Parts bin or collection, offered at a Low start price with no reserve.
