Vintage G.B. Essex Brass Co. Oiler LOT DETAILS A vintage engine oiler made by the G.B. Essex Brass Co. Detroit. Mich. It measures approx. 4.3/8" long. The cylinder has a diameter of 2.1/8" T he glass is smaller then the brass fitting. There's a gap between them which can be seen in the last two pictures. The glass is di rty on the inside. This steam displacement lubricator is marked Detroit 1 Quart. 2 of the wooden knobs are nice. The third knob has a crack. The short 3/4" d. sight glass has a crack near the bottom. The top bulb has nickel platting and screws into the top nicely. Seeing it is a different color this may have been switched. It is easy to remove nickel plating. All valve turns nicely as they should. The total length is 14"1/4" Notice the solder patch on the side. It looks good but could be smoothed some. This is a Hydrostatic lubricator. It looks just like a Detroit Lubricator but has Michigan Lubricator stamped on the side. It has a one quart capacity. Unfortunately sometime in its life it has frozen and cracked. The ball on top has been repaired as has the bottom of the body next to the drain valve(see pictures) The repairs appear to be brazed and very solid. Not the typical low quality"soldered" fix. It is missing a number of parts. Please look carefully before bidding.

This is a very old engine lubricator/ oiler. Made by the Detroit Lubricator Co. It has a patent date on it of 3/30/15. The oiler is glass and nickel plated brass. And it is complete. It is 3/8 NPT 18 pipe thread. It measures 5 1/2 inches in overall height. The glass is 2 in. x 2 in. The oiler is in good condition and ready to use or to display.

Everything seems to be working as it should, but could probably use new gaskets. The fill cap is missing, and previous owner has a cork in its place.
