Vintage G.B. Essex Brass Co. Oiler LOT DETAILS A vintage engine oiler made by the G.B. Essex Brass Co. Detroit. Mich. It measures approx. 4.3/8" long. The cylinder has a diameter of 2.1/8" T he glass is smaller then the brass fitting. There's a gap between them which can be seen in the last two pictures. The glass is di rty on the inside. T he brass is scratched up and worn and it's a little bent out of shape. Take a look at the pictures to get a good idea of what the oiler looks like and the condition. I will describe any deterioration as best I can for you. My guarantee is good and my comebacks are practically non-existent so for the most part my descriptions are accurate and my buyers understand the game. I am always glad to combine shipping for you. It may have been used in a locomotive or a stationary steam engine- there is no documentation other that the part number at the base(see image#2) and the DETROIT LUBRICATOR patent information. Detroit Mich. the Glass on the end I bought new in the earlier 70's it's 2 1/4" dia. X 2 1/8" long. I'm starting the bid at the cost of the two new upper glasses with NO RESERVE so help yourself.

This steam displacement lubricator is marked Detroit 1 Quart. 2 of the wooden knobs are nice. The third knob has a crack. The short 3/4" d. sight glass has a crack near the bottom. The top bulb has nickel platting and screws into the top nicely. Seeing it is a different color this may have been switched. It is easy to remove nickel plating. This is a great vintage hit miss oiler engine part with extras. The oiler was made by Michigan Lubricator Company out of Detroit Michigan. Next to that mark is"124642" which I assume to be a part number. The oiler has a top piece that includes a circular wood handle. Below the oiler body there is an additional part that includes two glass"portals" Neither the glass on this bottom piece or the glass body of the oiler has any cracks or damage to it. There is also a on/off spigot piece near the bottom. The photos show what I am trying to describe. The oiler measures about 3&1/4" in diameter and about 2&1/2" tall. The whole piece measures about 8&1/4" tall. This is a great industrial piece and is in very good condition. This is a fantastic antique oiler from an old gas hit/ miss engine. It is labeled Detroit Lubricator Co. The glass is clear and the brass has a nice color to it. DETROIT LUBRICATOR CO. SOLID BRASS 1/2 PINT OILER NO. 229159. IT HAS FOUR VALVES ALL TURN FREELY AND STOP AT FULL OPEN AND AT THE CLOSED POSITION. ALL VALVE HANDLES ARE IN TACT AND IN GOOD CONDITION. THERE ARE TWO TEE HANDLE DRAIN PLUGS. IT HAS TWO SIGHT GLASSES BOTH IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. IT'S 12 1/2" LONG AND 7 1/2" WIDE WITH 1/2 INLET. THIS WOULD MAKE A GREAT ADDITION TO ANY COLLECTION.
