I don't know much about microscopes but this one seems to be in very good condition. The only thing I found that might be wrong is that the fine tune adjust for the platform does not make the platform go up, it will only go down, the knob will turn up but the platform doesn't go up with the small knob, it will go up and down just fine with the large knob. Product Description This microscope is very modular. The central component is the drawtube with focusing mechanism. The body of the instrument is fitted with a long 1 inch diameter threaded flange which is supplied with a locking ring. The thread allows the microscope to be attached to various Gaertner instruments. Such as the precisions cross slides, instrument bases with cross-support arms, among others. The rack and pinions focusing has a range of 38mm. The nominal optical tube length of the microscope is 160mm. Eyepieces are supplied with matched eyepiece adapter tubes so the optical tube length is maintained when switching eyepieces. The tube adapters are usually fitted with spider cross lines and therefore no attempt should be made to clean them These microscopes are all fitted with the standard M250-242 adapter tube with 90 degree ... morespider lines. The ocular is a type M242 Ramsden 10x, also standard. Gaertner objectives are continuously threaded over their entire length(RMS standard thread) and have a locking ring. The continuous thread allows precise adjustment of the magnification ratio of the instrument when using micrometer eyepieces or filar eyepieces. Very nice Leica inverted high n.a. DIC microscope set. It is complete with the universal condenser containing three DIC prisms. DIC prism turret for the objective side containing three DIC prisms(B, C, and D. the D is not labeled on the prism but it works with objectives labeled"D" polarizer/lambda plate, and DIC analyzer. The objective turret filter holder is an exact fit for other Leica models including some upright microscopes. However I'm not sure about how the condenser will fit the upright microscope, but all the prisms with work with both upright and inverted microscopes. Wild M5 stereo-microscope with dark-field base
A nice Wild M5. That I've used for about five years; selling because I've just acquired a Wild M8(with d-f base! This equipment has a(rare) dark-field base- with a trans-illumination option. The eyepieces are x15, but not Wild. Included(but not on the pics) is an epi-illumination lamp, whose arm fits on a ring that sits above the objective. The little fan has a separate mains-plug-in transformer instead of getting its juice from the lamp voltage(as originally) the lamp is a 12v 50w QI bulb under a(cracked but effective) heat filter, fed by banana plugs(I'm happiest with 6-9v) The glass circle stage has a cracked edge, but nearly all of the area is fine. I have been using it to view(among other things. my continuing cultures of Amoeba proteus. A fantastic American Optics Stereo(Dissecting) Microscope Model 569. The optics on this microscope are in excellent condition. The gears on the stand work beautifully as does the zoom from 0.7 to 3.0x. The base plate is not original and custom built from a sturdy 3-ply Norplex bright white plastic. It works better than the original. The frame is also in excellent condition albeit for a few scratches and dings that stem from years of loving use. The stand is missing the screw that keeps the microscope secure to the stand but that can be remedied with a simple screw. I have used this micr oscop e for years but just have no use for it anymore.
