Welch Scientific Decade Resistor Box Up for auction is a used Welch Scientific Decade Resistor Box. This item is in fair condition with some cosmetic wear from normal use. There are a few minor scuff marks and scratches on the item but this does not effect the functionality of the item. The dials are all in good condition and the words and numbers are visible. The connections are in good condition with no dents or cracks. Please refer to the photos below for more details on the item. We connected a volt meter to the item and then turned all four dials to 9. The volt meter read 6 OHM then started to slowly raise. We left the volt meter connected to the item for around 10 minutes. This item is a Leeds Northrup Decade Resistor Box. Most likely manufactured in the 1930's or 60-70+ years ago. It still works great even after all that time. This fantastic piece of history would function perfectly as a conversation piece. Or on any electronics lab bench for"dialing-in" whichever resistance you are looking for, from 0.1-1111 OHMS! I have been collecting these items for many years so I have decided to sell all of my duplicates. This item was used in a university physics lab up until recently, and has been maintained and calibrated by our equipment curators, so it is in wonderful shape, and has been well cared for over the years. GenRad General Radio Decade Resistor 1432-K .1ohm to 1.111 Kohms
General Radio GenRad 1432-K decade resistance standard. This was bought from the old MPI/Seagate design labs and was used as a design standard so it was well cared for. I have had it over twenty years and used it just a handful of times since. I opened and checked for discolored or out of tolerance resistors. No overheated contacts. Contacts were a little resistive until I cleaned them as recommended. My best calibrated meter is a five digit hp. It tested in specification. When using please be aware of the maximum current ratings on each step. Failure to do so will overheat and damage resistors.

Up for consideration is a Western Electric resistor decade box. I purchased this unit from a radio auction. It came with this milliamp gauge. I am not sure why the gauge has been replaced. The gauge does not match the hole it is in exactly. It is close. I cannot find any information on this unit to share with you. What I do know: Box dimensions: 6" x 8.5" x 10" This unit serial number is#582 Was made after 1915. Marked Chicago and New York. Damage to the corner underneath box. Not a big deal for the age.
