Powered by This is a Very Early Hewlett Packard 200B Audio Oscillator that has been in our family for at least 45 years. We used this unit as kids. We had a riot testing audio gear to its limit. Speakers, other radio transmitters and gear with this unit. We had a ton of fun making low frequency sound(smoke) cannons with drivers and carpet tubes, as well as high frequency hand wound transducers and speakers that had the ability to shatter glass/ ice icicles and much more. We are thinning our collection and will have more stuff available as we cart it into the shop for sale. Condition: The unit is still working as seen from the pictures. Notice the actual waveform. The paint is worn and has some spotting as shown in the photos. Its old. The power cord is the original as it is still laced inside the chassis. It will surely need further restoration due to age, perhaps bad caps, cleaning selectors, etc. Testing: We utilized a 8K resistor to load the unit for testing purposes. We hauled this hulk up the stairs with about fifty trunk loads of other gear in my fathers car. We remember the gentleman well. And everything he had worked perfectly, he was very meticulous. Hewlett-Packard HP-200C audio oscillator HP-200CR SN# A10860 This HP-200C is very close in design to the company's initial product. It is a Wien bridge resistance-tuned oscillator with the famous light-bulb stabilized negative feedback circuit designed by William Hewlett while doing graduate work at Stanford. Patent#2268872. Application filed in 1939 and granted in 1942) The original HP-200 was built and sold out of Hewlett's garage with fellow Stanford grad David Packard. Marking the founding of Hewlett-Packard. Output for the 200C is specified as 100 milliwatts. 10 volts into a 1000 ohm load. Although this is labeled an audio oscillator, and it does indeed cover the full audio spectrum, its upper range is well beyond audio, in the VLF radio range at 200 KHz.
