We plugged a power cord from a different device into the Line Input on the side of the unit and the unit powers up and shows what I believe are all the indications of a working unit but I know nothing about this tester and therefore can only attest to its ability to power on and go through the start up visual(the readout goes through a series of prefunction if you will visual indications that show that the readout and unit is functioning/or ready to function.
