Vintage Leeds & Northrup Co Potentiometer 188822
This is a vintage Leeds& Northrup Co of Philadelphia 188822 potentiometer. Former Colorado University(not specified but probably CU) physics department instrument. I'm not sure how this works. So I can't test it out for you. Overall condition is very good, the top has very light wear and damage(tiny chips out of the edges, light scratching) but needs to be dusted and polished, the wooden case has some scratches and dings on the sides, heavier scratching on the bottom. Measures approximately 32 cm x 18 cm x 10 cm tall excluding the height of the knobs and dials. The voltage dial has a small brownish stain at one place on the dial.

Unfortunately I had access to one only. I chose this one. Others chose one each as well. There is NO way for me to know if it works? For there is nothing for me to test out with it. That I feel I could test it without hurting myself. even though it all looks low voltage and wattage. I DID remove the"D" batteries from behind the side plate. The only issues I see are all associated with the cabinet. Two rubber feet from the side standing panel are missing. As is One rubber foot from the bottom position. The leather strap handle is missing as well. Probably rotted away decades ago. According to the cover sheet with it? It covers The" Murray Loop Test" The" Varley Test" and a Galvanometer. I am offering this vintage 1940/1950's Leeds and Northrup#336101 measuring instrument is in great clean condition. The wood base is 13-1/4" long X 7-3/4" wide and 3-3/4" tall. The plastic portion is 12-5/8" long X 7-1/8" wide X 3/8" tall. This instrument weighs 7 lbs. 2 oz. I don't know exactly what is it is but all the knobs and handles are there and the plastic has no chips. Cracks or scratches. The lettering is white and clean. The large revolving portion and knobs operate smoothly. I tried to take enough photos to show the quality of this measuring instrument but if you have any questions or need additional information. This item is a Leeds Northrup Decade Resistor Box. Most likely manufactured in the 1930's or 60-70+ years ago. It still works great even after all that time. This fantastic piece of history would function perfectly as a conversation piece. Or on any electronics lab bench for"dialing-in" whichever resistance you are looking for, from 0.1-1111 OHMS! I have been collecting these items for many years so I have decided to sell all of my duplicates. This item was used in a university physics lab up until recently, and has been maintained and calibrated by our equipment curators, so it is in wonderful shape, and has been well cared for over the years. The multi-meter I used in the photo is the only one I have at home. It alternates between + or- 0.3 Ohms.
