German World War II parachute carrying bag Luftwaffe Fallschirmjager
This is a WW2 era German Luftwaffe parachute carrying bag. As used by the Fallschirmjager(Paratrooper Infantry) It features metal snaps to the lid reading'ZIEH HIER' There is a faded stamped number on the lid that I believe reads'983220' This parachute carrying bag is constructed of a tightly woven burlap type fabric. It is approximately 18" wide x 16" high x 11" deep. One of the snaps have come apart(male is stuck inside the female snap) and there is a 1 1/2 inch tear just above it. The snaps are not easily going in and likely need some oiling. Which is sized for badminton or squash racquets, but could perhaps also be used for older, smaller(not newer oversized) tennis rackets as well. The bag is made of very heavy La Coste embossed green vinyl with leather or simulated tan leather trim& accents. It was purchased from an estate, and is made in Taiwan. The exact date of manufacture is unknown. It measures 46” long. Is 11-1/2” wide at the widest point, and 15” from the larger end to the right handle strap. It’s 6-1/2” wide at the longer section. The pouch appears to be large enough to hold two rackets comfortably, and there is a zippered storage pouch for balls or shuttlecocks. The holder is in very good used condition. And both the zippers work fine. The only issues would be a very small stain ... moreon the alligator logo patch, and just a few light nicks”here and there” more so on the leather or simulated leather area at the bottom of the bag. Originally cut down to 19-1/2" It has been refurbished with a 4" drum shell from Precision Drum Co to raise it back to 23-1/2" To cover up the unfinished shell a chrome piece of wrap from Precision to finish it off. The throne is open in the bottom for stands, sticks, or other drummer storage. Except for a little separation of the pearl overlap(See photo#2) this wrap is mint! No lifting anywhere that I see.
