Vintage Red WILTON Chicago Bullet Machinist Bench Vise_Fixed Base_935 835_Works
For Absolute Auction Here is a super cool Wilton Bullet Vise. Original? red color. Jaws are 3 1/2" wide. Opens to about 6 1/2" when fully extended. Measures about 14 1/2" from bullet tip to crank when closed. Weighed in at about 30 lbs. This is a fixed. Not swivel, base. Measures 6" in diameter. The side with the crank is stamped with the number 835. While the"bullet" side of the vise has what appears to be the number 935. Not sure how the numbering works on these. SEE PICS of the jaws- these could stand to be reworked. I took it apart and cleaned some grime that has collected over the decades. But did not use harsh chemicals. For this reason, it will arrive oily and in need of some cleaning. Opens and closes smoothly; the internal turn screw is nice and shiny with not stripping. WILTON TOOL CORP VISE No3 Bullet Bench 3" Jaws Chicago, ILL
This is a WILTON"TOOL CORP" so you know it's old! Bullet Bench(Machinist) Vise with 3" actually closer to 2.75" Jaws, made at the Chicago, ILL USA plant, so it could be late 1940's. There is a small tweak to the vise that does not allow the jaws to come together perfectly. It could be I assembled the jaws opposite? Not sure. But I used all the original fasteners. The vise is also missing the end dust cap and has no swivel base. The previous owner did some grinding/filing on the key itself, so I have no solid date to offer you. Just a few words of how I refurbished the vise. Gave it a bath in solvent. Then very hot water. Dried it with compressed air. Then, glass beaded every piece of it right down to bare metal. Polished up the bare machined surfaces. And taped them off. Shot the casting with Rustolium Hammered ... moreLight Blue. Greased all moving parts. And removing the excess lube. Did it- so you don't have to. This vise will most likely be around for your grandkids! I do not issue refunds or accept returns. Vintage 1946 Chicago Wilton Bullet Swivel Bench Vise 3 1/2" Jaws Made In USA
This is a very old Wilton Bullet Vise manufactured when the company was still in Chicago. Before moving to Schiller Park, IL in 1955. This particular vise was made in July of 1946. For being as old as it is this vise is in fantastic condition. I had it stripped down to bare metal and I saw no damage anywhere. A lot of these really old bullets show signs of heavy use but this one was obviously well cared for. The swivel lock-down cap nuts are original to this vintage, before they used the sliding handle clamping nuts. One steel jaw insert has been replaced and the other is original. I honestly have no idea why but the original jaw insert is still in decent condition. They line up well with parallel surfaces and clamping force is excellent. Brand new rubber finger-saver washers were installed on the handle. After stripping it down and surface ... moreprep I applied 3 coats of Hammered Finish Verde Green enamel. Each was baked on at 200 degrees for 30 minutes. This is the best system I've come up with for providing a durable finish. The color is very close to the famous Wilton color, it looks blue in the photos but it's more green in person. For some reason this paint always photographs heavy on the blue. NOTE: Admittedly the photos aren't very good. The vise looks better in person than what's showing here. I had about a ten minute break in Seattle's rain today to take them so I was rushed. If and when we get a pause in the precipitation I'll take some better photos and post them down at the bottom, below the auction text. I applied synthetic lubricant on the friction surfaces; Main screw threads. Horse-shoe retaining collar and slide key-way. It's ready to be bolted down and put to work. This vise functions great and will provide many decades of use if treated properly. By that I mean vises aren't intended to have cheater bars put on the handles or bashed with heavy sledge hammers. This is a Vintage Wilton No.4 Heavy Duty Bullet Swivel Vise 4" Jaws 6" Open, Machinist. Made by the Wilton Tool Corporation, Chicago, Illinois- USA! The vise shows appropriate wear and tear for its age. Please see pictures to get a better idea of the cosmetic condition of the vise. Has one broken jaw- the teeth are broken- it will need to be replaced. The screw that holds the jaw on appears to be broken and extracted so a replacement can be put on. Vintage Wilton Shop King Swivel Bench Vise 4" Jaws 25 Lbs. Made In Chicago USA
Full specs at the bottom of listing. Art Deco and vises go together like ice cream and pie. The Shop Kings are absolutely stunning vises and it's a shame this great sense of style in manufacturing was lost somewhere along the way. Shop Kings were first sold by Wilton in 1951 and production didn't continue but for a few years before they changed to a different model. That was a real loss in my opinion as I consider them to have some of the most handsomely designed lines for any vise ever sold. Their striking appearance just can't be denied. This 4" Wilton Shop King is in remarkable condition. All of the edges are crisp. It has very few signs of usage and is in overall excellent condition. Clearly it was either extremely well cared for or it hasn't seen a lot of work. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about it. The action ... moreis outstanding and the jaws(Which are in wonderful condition. close up squarely and snugly. Both pipe jaws are included as is the hardy. The hardy isn't original however. It was fabricated from a steel bolt and two nuts welded in place and then shaped, that's why you see signs of a thread pattern on the chisel faces. So while it isn't perfect in appearance it will still make a fine hardy. Ultimately, most of these are missing and it's better than nothing, right? This vise was completely refurbished by myself. A complete cosmetic overhaul. The old paint was removed entirely with gel stripper. A bare metal, thorough inspection revealed no hidden damage or repairs. The cast iron pieces to be painted were warmed to 200 ° and three coats of each color enamel were sprayed. Each paint application was cured at 200 ° for 30 minutes each. There is no paint on any friction surface. The colors are Satin Leaf on Cobalt Blue Metallic. All hardware was cleaned and made to function as new. The vise was then reassembled with a very light coating of synthetic lubricant on the main screw. You don't want to much because it attracts dust. The end result is the beau

Vintage Wilton Shop King Swivel Bench Vise 5" Jaws 30 Lbs. Made In Chicago USA
Full specs at the bottom of listing. What your eyes are gazing upon is a Wilton Shop King with 5" Jaws. These do not come up very often. I've had a lot of Shop Kings pass through my hands but this is the first 5" model I've ever seen in person. It's a nice, big hunk of a vise in that gorgeous art-deco styling. These are absolutely incredibly handsome vises in my opinion. The 5" version opens to a staggering seven inches. This one came to me in very good condition and clearly these are well made vises. It is missing a pipe jaw and, unfortunately, I don't have a spare that fits it. However, I think with just one jaw it should do an acceptable job of keeping a cylindrical object from moving around. The hardy is original. The only part I had to replace was a stripped out jaw screw, the replacement is in the front ... morejaw so you'll never see it. Thankfully this vise was well taken care of and had very few work scars. It has no structural damage. No repairs, welds or cracks. I did smooth out some of the metal just a tad which goes a long way in making it a better looking tool. I removed all the paint with gel stripper and cleaned all the steel hardware. The cast iron was warmed to 200 degrees and three coats of each color paint were applied. All of them were individually baked at the same temperature for 30 minutes. The finish should hold up as well as paint can for you. Every single piece on this vise was improved to as good as possible in way or another. It functions absolutely perfectly with zero issues. The action is really smooth all the way in and out. The jaws line up flush with even pressure across the board. The jaws are in pretty good condition too. You can see for yourself in the dozen large gallery photos that it looks very nice. Let's talk about the colors. The top color is Satin Granite enamel. That's a good name for a color; Granite! Full specs at the bottom of listing. It would be difficult to find something from 1947 in better condition than this vise. This cute little guy is in amazing shape and all original too. Just look at the 12 large gallery pics for yourself. I really couldn't believe how nice it was when I started getting it cleaned up. Dream job for me really; small and easy. The only thing I had to mend was a shallow divot on the anvil space. It was filled and then sanded smooth so now that divot is gone. I did this only for cosmetic reasons. There's no structural damage, welds or repairs on this vise. Everything here is drop dead gorgeous. These are really, really small vises. Look at the photo of it sitting with a soda can and you'll get the idea. This is for precise work holding. Obviously this is a Chicago made vise before Wilton moved to Schiller ... morePark. I stripped it with gel. Cleaned up the hardware and then prepped the metal for paint. The metal gets warmed to 200 ° and then three coats of Satin Leaf enamel are sprayed on. I bake each coat for 30 minutes at 200 ° and in the end we get a nice looking. Tough paint job. The color is decently close to the mint-hospital-green paint Wilton used way back when. Then it all goes back together with some synthetic lubricant on the friction zones and, in the end, we have ourselves a nice little vise. I have nothing even remotely negative to mention here, zip. The action is unbelievable, feels like it's never been used. Jaw reaction is immediate and precise. The jaws look fantastic and they line up flush and square. Honestly, everything on this vise is amazing. If you're looking for one of the little Wilton bullets you can stop searching now because I'd be amazed if you ran across one nicer than this. This one here is a freak in how nice everything is. This is one package you'll love to get in the mail. I promise. This"baby Wilton" is in perfect working condition. She has been oiled and every moving part turns freely. She has the usual nicks. Scrapes, paint and rust that tools of this age have. Even a few sets of initails have been scratcched out thru the years. But even with these flaws I could not think of giving her a facelift. 1941 WILTON BULLET MODEL 930 VISE WITH SWIVEL BASE - CHICAGO USA - 3" JAWS
Estate find. This auction is for a original 1941 Wilton 930 bullet swivel base vise with 3" jaws. Chicago, USA. They were original made in Chicago before moving to Schiller Park, Illinois.The slide is stamped 4- 46. Wilton original gauranteed their vise for five years and stamp the end of the expiration date on the slide[ 1941 + 5 years = 1946. The vise was taken apart and all paint stripped before being spraying with self etching primer and then 2 coats of rust-oleum hammered verde green spray paint. Research found that was the closest paint match to the original color. The jaws are original[ smooth surface inside] I flipped the jaws so the the better looking edge is on top- the other edge were hammered on a little and are now facing down. see photos] There are a few marks also on the top of the body from use[ see photos] The\original ... morejaw attaching screws were a little messed up[ threads were fine- just hard to get screwdriver in screw slots] so I replaced them with the proper sized 10-32 x 1/2" cap screws. see photos] The only other[ new] thing I added besides the cap screws was a washer under each of the capped nuts for the swivel base[ see photos. Everything else is all original and in very good shape. I lightly greased the parts that needed to be before they were reassembled. The vise opens and closes and swivels side to side smoothly with one finger operation. Weight is about 20 lb and length about 12 inches. As with all my auctions this is sold as is so email all questions before bidding. I offer parcel post or priority mail shipping and can just squeeze this into a medium flat rate box if you wish to save you shipping cost.

Vintage Wilton Shop King Swivel Bench Vise 5" Jaws 29 Lbs. Made In Chicago USA
Full specs at the bottom of listing. This is as good as it gets. If you follow my vise auctions at all then you may know I'm always on the lookout for good quality Shop King vises and. In particular, the hard-to-come-by 5" jaw versions. I've had more than my fair share, I won't pretend I haven't. So it's with sizable Shop King experience that I say this is easily the nicest one I've ever come across and that's really saying something too because I've brought home some beautiful examples over the years. Just look at the dozen large gallery photos. How many times do you think this vise was used? A dozen maybe? For as old as these are, early 1950's, this one is amazing to me. After a refresh it looked even better. The original red paint was in nice condition but it had some other color paint spills on ... moreit plus things just get old looking over time so I wanted to spruce this up. The thick red paint was stripped with multiple applications of aviation gel then I gave it a quick media blast and rinse. It looked really nice naked and I halfway entertained the idea of selling this one with just bare cast iron and a clear coat. That would have worked here to show off the pristine metal condition. But. As I'm sure you're well aware, I enjoy painting things and I chose a nice color combo for this one, a little more reserved for me than usual. The top portion is Flat Aluminum enamel and the bottom is Hammered Verde Green which is a match to Wilton's current finish on their bullets. That's a good connection to Wilton vises of today. Before painting I warm the pieces to 200 ° and then spray on three coats of each color. Every application of paint is baked in the oven at 200 ° for 30 minutes. This makes for a great finish. All of the steel hardware is cleaned to work and look as new as it can possibly be.
