C49 Here is a very good used machine tool taper. For a lathe or screw machine, or etc, but I am puzzled as to what to accurately call it. I am hoping a very experienced toolmaker will see this listing and help me out. I will add your responses to the listing. The taper is 5 3/16" long overall, with typical small radiuses on each end, so the large and small diameters do not exist at the very ends of the taper. A#7 morse taper is supposed to have a taper/ inch of.052. A Jarno taper is supposed to have a taper/ inch of.050. The result of my measurements shows a taper of.051 per inch. My tools are not the most precise so a small measurement error could easily shift the results.001" either way. The large od is 2.934" the small od is 2.678. Jarno tapers that are not the full theoretical length are sometimes known as Reed tapers. ... moreThis taper has an internal#5 Morse taper. So it is either a shortened Morse#7 or a shortened Jarno#24. Though I have never seen a Jarno chart that goes above#20, nor have I ever seen a Morse adapter that has the configuration of this one, so my thoughts lean toward it being a Jarno. The pictures include showing a twist drill with a# 5 Morse taper with the adapter on it to show relative size. The twist drill is not included in the auction. Fadal mill cnc 4th axis tailstock possibly ROT-0026F
I believe this tailstock is a Fadal ROT-0026F. But I can't be absolutely sure because it has no part numbers printed on it. It was associated with a Fadal VH-65 4th axis that was sold without this tailstock. Because the tailstock was found later in a cabinet. The included center has a chip. But it appears to be a replaceable part so perhaps thats not a big deal? See picture. I've emailed a fadal service center to see how much a replacement tip costs. I will update the listing when I have more info. For all I know. These tips are standard items and easily available anywhere, I just dont know because I'm not familiar with tailstocks. It also has light surface rust from sitting in an enclosed cabinet. The distance from the point of the center to the bottom of the mounting plate appears to be about 6.5" Not including the two ... morecircular protrusions on the bottom of the mounting plate. I measured this by hand with calipers so this is an approximate measurement. I.e. if you need to know within.010" to match your 4th axis this measurement is probably not accurate enough to ensure it will match. If you need a more accurate measurement let me know and I might be able to do that at work somehow. This tailstock goes for $1000 new. So if the tip can be replaced, this could be a great deal!
